Laughing in an evil manner, Kael ruthlessly shoved the glass bottle with the Verilli into the mouth of an unfortunate Naves that was caught. Upon swallowing it, the Naves trembled in fear within his evil clutches.
After what felt like forever, he finally released it from his hands. The Naves hurriedly ran away into the shadows, leaving behind a blazing trail of fire. Chuckling wickedly, Kael raised his hand, which held an empty glass bottle- is what I'd like to say. Unfortunately, that bottle is now filled with an inky black liquid. I dare not ask what he plans to do with that.
"Kael, isn't that kind of overkill just now? You seriously look like a demon bullying the weak," I called out to him, ultimately deciding not to ask anything about the inky liquid he had taken from the Naves.
Kael flashed me a grin. A sort of evil grin as he said, "No...? But if I don't do it like that, it's hard to hold it down and make it stay still. Unlike you, I have no such ability to deal with those Naves. All I have to rely on is my brute strength to protect myself."
'Liar... Even a blind person can tell that you did that simply because you're actually enjoying it. If there's truly any other reason, it'd because you wanted its saliva for some unknown reason which I dare not guess,' I silently exposed him inwardly as I stared intently at the bottle in his hand.
"I feel rather anxious just by knowing the fact that you're actually an angel. It's like the world has gone mad," I sincerely expressed my thoughts.
Kael dropped his evil facade and narrowed his eyes at me, "Seriously, do you have to be so rude? What did I ever do to you? Do you have a grudge against me?"
"Did you contact the White Angels already? When will they arrive? I'd prefer it if you could give me an estimate," I changed the topic without so much of an expression.
Sighing, Kael looked up at the sky and answered, "Already did it last night. They should be arriving in an hour or two. Give or take. Anyway, you're absolutely sure the Naves hadn't noticed your presence today, right?"
"Yeah. Aside from when I was getting rid of the ones that was near Serafi, I always made sure to keep myself hidden," I replied. Besides from doing my duty, Kael had explicitly told me to ensure that the Naves don't notice me.
"Good," Kael said simply, nodding his head.
"Well!" I said, clapping my hands together, "Then, we should hurry up and follow after the Naves now."
Kael glanced at me, turned around and started following after the fire trails without a word.
The Naves seems to have gone through a few back alleys, entered other buildings and out again.
After awhile, from what I could see, the fire truly didn't burn anything. The fire trail had gone through many flammable items and yet it hadn't burned any of them. Even a cat was capable of sleeping peacefully with the fire trail burning on top of it.
"Kael, how long exactly will the fire keep burning? It's fire from a creature of Hell. I seriously doubt it will just go out on it's own like normal fire," I asked, glancing at the tiny Kael from the corner of my eyes.
Without turning to look at me, Kael just nonchalantly replied, "Ahh.. It.. won't..? Unless the Verilli dies, the fire trail will just go on forever."
"What...? So you mean to say that this trail will never disappear?"
"Just kill the Verilli and be done with it. Don't fuss over it. But, well, there is another way of dealing with it..." Kael trailed off as we turned towards a corner.
There are multiple boxes stacked together, forming a tiny hill. The Naves seems to have climbed up the boxes to reach the tiny open window at the top, entering what appears to be a warehouse. The place seems to be giving off an odd aura and an unbearably foul stanch.
"Uh... Do we enter, Kael? Somehow, this place gives me the creeps," I asked, turning towards the child next to me.
"Indeed," He said, having already scaled through the boxes. He peered into the tiny window, "This should be the hideout of the Naves's leader. I can see the Naves we caught earlier. We should take this chance to kill it off."
Glancing at his back, I floated upwards to his side, looking inside through the window. Inside, I could indeed see the Naves with the fire trail. Moving along as it neared an door leading elsewhere. "Should I go in to end it?"
"Wait," Kael stopped me, taking out something from his pocket, "We should use this. Less conspicuous."
What he had taken out was a glass bottle. But, inside wasn't the inky black liquid but another Verilli. I widened my eyes as I stared at him. "You had another one? What are you going to do with that?"
Kael smirked evilly as he opened the bottle, taking the Verilli out. The Verilli squirmed in his hand, attempting to escape from his grasp but to no avail.
He looked at the burning bug in his hand as he mercilessly squished the bug to its death. With a poof, the Verilli exploded silently without a sound. There was nothing left of it.
Raising his head, Kael looked at me as he said, "Look at the Naves."
In my confusion, I followed his words and looked at the Naves inside. It started to glow red when suddenly, with a poof, it also exploded without a sound. The trail of fire from the Verilli also disappeared along with the silent explosion.
Abruptly turning my head, I asked, "What did you do? How did that happen?"
"See. The fun thing about this Verilli is that it can also explode remotely. Verilli typically mate for life. You kill one, the other dies. Best part of all is that the explosion is very quiet. There's hardly anything left of it," Kael explained with a proud face.
"You demon. You separate a couple, used them and mercilessly disposed of them, " I gave him a judging look.
"Do you have to make me seem like a bad guy? It's a bug. Don't you dare tell me you've never kill a bug before. You don't normally hesitate when killing an ant or any other bugs either, right?" Kael rolled his dead eyes at me.
"Let's go," he continued, "We already know where the leader is. We should get away before it notice us."
I nodded my head and turned around when I suddenly noticed something odd. "Uh... Kael? This isn't part of your plan, right?"
In the shadows of the alley behind us, inside the buildings, I could see something moving there. A lot of things, squirming. In every shadowed area that I look, I could see something squirming. The Naves.
Kael looked around with a grim face. He clicked his tongue, "Damnit. This is definitely not part of the plan."
"Then what do we do?!" I asked anxiously.
"Run!" He yelled back.
"That's easy to say! There's hundreds of them!" I yelled back at him. Those things are all over the place that it's even covering the sky. It's impossible for me to even fly away.
As I frantically smashed down any that got close, killing them with my right hand, I got close to Kael, "How did this happened? How did they know we're here?"
"Well. I did say Devils are very cunning and manipulative. Apparently, we had fallen under his trap," he replied with mixed feelings as he beat down the Naves with his fists. But unlike with me, the ones that was hit didn't die. It reminded me of the time when Kael said that he didn't possess the abilities of a Guardian Angels. He can't kill them. As least not as easily as me.
"So it's a trap?! We fell into a trap?!" I asked frantically.
"The devil must have somehow found out about us. Thus, the trap. I can't defend myself and you're just a weak angel that's hardly even a fledging. All we can do is pray that the Whites get here in time to save us." He said with a resigned voice.
I wanted to snap back at him but in this hopeless situation, I couldn't afford the time to do so. The Naves kept increasing and getting closer. Before I knew it, I heard a sudden voice in my head;
[[ Pathetic ]]
And lost my consciousness.
