I ran, I sneak, I stalk.
Here I am, at the place of my targets. Waiting at the door, within their apartment unit.
A happy couple, holding hands with their child at the center. I had given them enough time to enjoy Christmas, but that's just all.
They have to be killed, because they're ordered to be kill. If only these couple accepted the invitation, then this wouldn't have to go this far.
But still, do I also have to kill the child? I believe only the couple are the targets, but do I have to include their kid as well? Because I don't think I can do it...
I gnashed and clenches my fist, 'This is unacceptable...'
As the couple approaches and was about to open the door, I suddenly summoned my sword and pierces it through the door, all the way to the man's chest.
I couldn't see their reaction, but I believe they have only one reaction in this situation.
I then slammed the door wide open. The man is lying on the ground, drenched in his blood.
The woman grew her eyes widely in shock, trembling from hands to knees.
She then shouts at her child, "Shoto! Go! Don't look ba-"
I quickly slit her throat. Blood splats everywhere and continued dripping on the ground.
The child trembles in fear, but that doesn't stop him to run.
I was about to catch him, however, I held myself back, 'Do I even have to kill this kid?'
So, I decided to let the kid go. I guess I'm just being myself, cold yet warm...
I looked at the bodies and saw them lying on the ground, holding hands with each other.
"How sweet... Even at their death, they still hold hands." I murmured.
I then chanted, "Incinerate."
My sword's blade began to light in an orange color. I then slashes their bodies and it began to burn.
Incinerate is a kind of skill that burns a slashed body.
It is a tradition, a requirement to burn the bodies of those we kill in order to erase evidences. In case the locals investigates.
As I leave the scene, I then asks myself, 'Have I made the right choice? It is clear that there should be no witnesses, but I can't kill a child or should I?'
I shook my head and slapped my face, "My decision is final. I'll let the child free, in exchange for punishment. I am sure it is not anything major."
Morning after that night, Yuna texted me, "Hi Ryu, would you like to watch movie with me today?"
I replied, "Sure, what time?"
"Around 13:00. Let's have lunch here at the café first."
"I'll be there!"
"Great! See you!"
I felt an excitement and I believe she's excited too.
After a while, I soon head to their café to meet with Yuna. As I enter the café, I saw Yuna smiling right at me.
She waved her hands, the corner of her eyes crinkled, and the corners of her mouth slid upwards. She was so happy to see me...
I feel shy to look at her in the face. I mean, after everything that happened last night. Did it really happen? Because if it is, then it's my first...
I looked down, my heart is beating so fast, and I'm having an uneasy breathing. I can't look her in the eyes. What's this feeling?
She then suddenly pokes me, "Ryu!?"
I got startled, "Ye-Yeah?"
"Are you there? Hello?"
I just stared at her blankly and she laughs at me.
"What happened?" She asks.
"Nothing... I mean about last ni- I mean, about the movie... What are we watching today? Hehe."
"Um... Yeah, we are watching horror today."
"Horror? I didn't know you like horrors?"
She looks away shyly and fidgets her fingers on the table, "It's not that I like it... I mean, now I'm confident to watch it because you're here..."
Is she about to make a move again? Just why am I the reason of her confidence to watch a horror?
I smiled slowly and chuckles. She on the other hand, saw me.
"What??" She asked with pouting face.
"Nothing. Well? Shall we have our lunch?"
She sighed, "Yes of course. I'll bring our food here."
"Ok."
After we ate our lunch, we then head to the cinema.
It was a horror full of blood, jump scares, and drama.
Yuna held my hand tightly, while also holding my arms with her arms around. I can feel her trembling in fear. Now I know why I was the reason of her confidence upon watching the horror. It's that so she can cling to me.
I feel embarrassed, but at the same time, enjoying. Because after all, the person who is clinging right next to me is my dream girl.
I slowly put my arm around her shoulders. She then leans on the side of my chest while locking fingers with me.
I feel comfortable, and so as her. Her tremble slowly fades, her body began to calm. She may have made her move, but don't forget that I also make my own move as well.
She then looks at me with a smile, and so I smiled back.
After watching the movie, I walk her to the café before saying goodbye. She seems very happy and had full of energy.
She said she will be busy tonight. Because their dessert buffet is still ongoing. It is ok. Because after all, I'm sure someone will come to me about the witness last night. It will be risky if I have her with me tonight.
However, no one came... 7 days in a row, no news or no new missions. What's the reason?
It's the 31st of December. Everyone is preparing for the New Year's Eve.
Yuna texted me, "Hey Ryu? Wanna come help us prepare for the New Year's Eve?"
"Sure! What time?"
"Around 14:00, no rush!"
"Ok! I'll just be there around 14:15. See you!"
"Ok! See you!!"
I prepared myself like the usual: Styles my hair, puts on deodorant, and sprayed perfume a little.
I feel so confident that maybe the hoarders did not find out that I let a witness go.
It was exactly 14:00 when I'm about to leave the apartment, when suddenly, three men in their black trench coat approaches me from the door.
"Ryu. Because we found out that you let a witness go, you are sentenced for punishment."
I rolled my eyes down, "Damn it why no-"
One of the guy suddenly hits me from the back of my neck and knocks me down.
I lost conscious after that. I wonder what happens now?
What about Yuna? I bet she's waiting for me.
I just hope I didn't worry her...
