Chapter 42 - What is she doing here?

Cindy held a fork to her throat, "NO ALAN! PLEASE LET ME DIE!!" while Alan held both of her hands, "Cindy, I'm just stopping you with one hand. Is that how much you wish to die?"

Waiters came running with the manager, "Ma'am, please don't do this in our café or else boss will kill us!"

Cindy: Oh just push me in front of him when he is on it! I—

Alex stepped in front of Cindy, "What are you doing here?"

Cindy loosened her grip and tried to keep her so-called disguise, "Excuse me Mister but do I know you?"

Alex: Yes, in fact, for a very long time.

Cindy: You got the wrong person.

Alex turned toward Alan, "Hello Mr.Shephard".

Alan slowly put the knife on the table, "Hello Alex..."

Cindy face palmed, 'He didn't even see your face!'

Alex turned toward Cindy, "Now may I know the reason for all this?"

Cindy: I...

Cindy's eyes fell on Isabella who was already staring at her, 'Bella? What is she doing here?'

Isabella quickly hid her face, 'Why today out of all time!?'

Cindy looked back at Alex and stared at his face.

Alex: What?

Cindy threw a sarcastic smile, "Nothing. I'm just here to grab a coffee with Mr.Alan."

Alex: Then what was all that about?

Cindy: I don't remember owing you an explanation.

Alan sat there awkwardly, 'Jeez these two, thank God I love my wife dearly'.

Isabella sighed and walked to Alex, "Thank you for the coffee Mr.Robinson, I'll see you later".

Alex: Oh, I'm really sorry Miss Lawrence.

Isabella: It's alright, it was fun to get to know you.

Isabella turned toward Alan, "I'm sorry I couldn't greet you earlier Mr. Alan, I'm Isabella Lawrence".

Alan: Oh yes, I know you. Nice to meet you.

Isabella bowed, "I'm sorry I'll have to leave now, I got urgency".

Alan: Yeah sure, go ahead.

Alan looked at his watch, "Well office hour is almost over. You both should go and sign out now".

They both nodded obediently.

Alan: Cindy, we'll catch up later.

Cindy: Yes sir...

After reaching the company, Cindy packed her stuff on the table and walked outside. At the entrance, she saw Alex standing by a pillar.

Cindy: hmph

When Cindy walked past him, Alex called out, "I'll drop you home".

Cindy coldly replied, "No need".

Alex: It's not for you, I'm gonna pick up mom anyway.

Cindy: Not like I thought it was for me.

They both stood there quietly not knowing what to say.

Alex: I'm sorry...

Cindy: No need.

Alex: Is that your new catchphrase.

Cindy: think whatever you want and why are you even sorry?

Alex: For behaving with you like that.

Cindy tried to walk away when Alex held her wrist.

Cindy: What are you—

Cindy looked at Alex in surprise who was looking down trying to hide his face.

Alex: I'm really sorry.

Cindy: It's alright...Please let go now.

Alex let go of her hands, "I'll drop you home if no one's coming to pick you up".

He still didn't look up to see her face.

Cindy sighed, "Alright".
