(4 days later)
At around 10 am, Peter walked in CEO's office with a bouquet of daisies in his hand. Mark sat leisurely on his chair, almost dozing off for not getting enough sleep. He slowly looked up when he heard footsteps approaching him.
Mark: That's quite a big bouquet...
His words were sluggish,which was quite unusual as Mark always had strong work ethics.
Peter smiled, "Fatherhood is really taking a toll on you".
Mark: Tell me about it. I didn't get enough sleep for last 4 days, it's lagging me.
Peter: Don't worry, employees are working extra hard.
Mark: Thanks Peter, I know I can always count on you.
Peter Hannigan studied in the same elementary school as Mark and Alan. For generations, Hannigan family has provided assistance to the Shepherd family. Initially, they only devoted themselves to the Heir who will own Shepherd group but Mark and Alan broke the norm of the family. Seeing the fight for the next heir between siblings and cousins, they decided to back away from it and start their own company, M&A entertainment. Peter joined them and decided to be their assistant instead of going for the Chairman of Shepherd group. Seeing Mark's enthusiasm toward entertainment, Alan decided to sell 30% of his 50% share to Mark making him the rightful chairman with 80% share.
Peter: Mr.Smith has sent daisies to congratulate you.
Mark: Wow, when did he know about the symbolism a flower holds? It's very thoughtful of him.
Peter: it is indeed.
Mark's phone rang suddenly, it was Matthew.
Mark: Hey, I just got the flower you sent. Thank you, it means a lot.
Matthew: I'm glad you liked it. How's the new father doing?
Mark: If I had known, I would've fixed my schedule and make time to sleep.
Matthew: pfft, that's why I never plan ahead of time.
Mark: Should've listened to you.
Matthew: Well I need to ask for a favour.
Mark recalled the conversation he had with Alex and could guess what Matthew was going to say.
Mark: sure, what is it?
Matthew: tomorrow I'm going to Shanghai with Cindy and her kids. I want you to give her a 1 week leave.
Mark: I wish I could but right now it's not possible for me. You see my wife just had a baby for which I can't give enough time at work and the employees are under pressure for that. Moreover, Cindy is handling Emilia Love's interview. I'm sorry man, I can't give her a break now.
Matthew didn't request much, "I see... well, ok but do give her a break after Emilia Love's interview is done".
Mark smiled, "Sure, I will".
Matthew: I won't take much time, congratulations again. Bye!
Mark: Thanks, bye.
After hanging up the phone, Mark heaved a sigh of relief.
Mark: Peter.
Peter: yes?
Mark: Dial Mr.Robinson and ask him to meet me right now.
Peter nodded and left the room.
