Chapter 47 - His favorite food will fix his mood

Pile of files were stacked on Alex's table as he looked through the papers in his hand. His eyes were sleep deprived and lips were dry. From one look, anyone could say his insomnia was affecting him way too much. He was scanning his eyes through the papers when the telephone on his table rang.

Alex: Hello.

Peter: President Shepherd told you to come to his office.

Alex: Alright, I'm coming.

Alex took a deep sigh and got up from his chair. He had one thought in his mind, 'Cindy should not get hurt'.

He quickly paced to president's office and slowly knocked on the door. A deep lazy voice replied, "Come in".

Alex slowly opened the door and walked toward Mark's table after closing the door behind him.

Mark glared at his exhausted face, "What happened?"

Alex: ??

Mark: Why is Matthew's life in danger?

Alex: I first need to know if you gave Cindy permission to go with him, Sir.

Mark: I didn't.

Alex took a deep breathe, "A person very close to him told me that, I can't disclose her name".

In a serious tone Mark replied, "Look Mr.Robinson, this is a very serious issue and if something happens to Matthew, business industry will topple because he is the heir of Smith group as well as President of Ultraviolet records. We have to take legal actions here before something happens".

Alex: The person who told me about this, is being tracked every single second. If by any chance they find out she told me or anyone, they will kill her as well as Matthew Smith.

Mark leaned on his chair and thought about it. After a while, he continued, "How much did she tell you?"

Alex: Everything. She wrote it down on a paper and gave it to me.

Mark: Do you have it now?

Alex: Yes.

Alex took out the brown envelope from his pocket and handed it over to Mark.

As Mark read the paper, his eyes widened. After he finished reading it, he folded it and gave it back to Alex. He gulped in the lump in his throat, "I always knew, Davis and Smith group were rivals but I didn't know Davis would stoop this low..."

Alex was determined, "I must save Matthew. He is important to the person I care about".

Mark: We only have 4 days in our hand.

After an hour, Alex was lost in thought while he was going back to his office. He almost bumped into someone which Cindy noticed.

Cindy couldn't help but think what was going on with him. She realized his face looked more haggard than usual. 'Why is he overworking himself?' She went to the cafeteria to eat away her thoughts, yet she couldn't help but give a second thought on if she really should go and talk to him. After a moment, an idea struck her mind.

Cindy: Waitress!

She called out louder than usual making everyone stare at her.

Waitress quickly came to her, "Yes ma'am".

Cindy: I want you to deliver 3 chocolate glazed donut and a soothing cup of tea to the Chief editor Alex Robinson.

Waitress: Okay ma'am.

Cindy took out some bills and gave it to the cashier.

Cindy: Please deliver it before the tea gets cold.

Waitress: I'll go right away.

She left with the package right away and Cindy went back to her table with an uncontrollable smile, 'His favorite food will fix his mood'.

Few minutes later, a sudden realization struck her mind, 'WHY DID I DO THAT!?' She looked around her and saw some of her colleagues staring at her and whispering.
