His thoughts then turned to his people. His and the other Lord's scouts had not been fruitful in the least at locating any pure blood females, they did not even care that had not lost themselves. They just needed the females, but that was a faint hope that was practically nonexistent now. Knowing a pure bloods fate once they lose themselves, they almost always become no better than the feral beasts they created out of humans forcibly. Lack of direction, and the queen's balancing effect, most pure bloods go crazy and eventually die. Especially if they have lost themselves to the point where they partook of animal blood in a feeding frenzy. Botan leaned back in his chair as he covered his eyes with one hand, pressing his fingers hard against them. Far too many things he cannot control and yet so many things left to do. All he could do at this point was make sure they kept studying on vampire laws and customs. He also wanted them to focus and to begin to practice using their inward abilities. At this point, it was the only thing he could figure to do to help them focus on something, anything really. With a heavy sigh, he finished the glass that had been sitting on the table in one gulp and got into bed.
The next morning, Kaida got up, stretching hard, she walked over to the chilled container and took several sips off of its contents. She then gathered up her new kimono she laid out the night before, wrapping it neatly, she gathered up some scented hibiscus and lavender leaves to add to the water. She slowly opened the door adjoining their rooms and seen her brother still passed out on the floor. Smiling she shook her head as she pulled the covers over him gently. Shutting the door behind her, she headed out toward the hallway and headed down the corridor to the baths. One of the house maids had come out of the baths and lightly bowed to her. Smiling, the maid let her know the baths were cleaned and ready to use. Walking in the rest of the way, the maid closed the door as Kaida placed her kimono on the shelf and proceeded to undress. Putting her night clothes in the laundry basket, she proceeded to get into the tub. Dunking herself all the way into the tub, she came up with a sigh as she added the hibiscus and lavender mix to the water. Scrubbing her hair, she gently worked in the leaves till her hair lathered. Getting out of the tub, she took a bucket and scooped some water out of the bath.
Hanging her head over the side, she rinsed her hair thoroughly, carefully running a comb through to make sure all the leaves were out. Climbing back into the tub, she sat in the tub a little longer, she sighed heavily and got out. Softly toweling herself off, a soft knock on the door made her look up. It was one of the house maids checking on her, having them come in she asked them to help her put on her new kimono before breakfast time. Once the sash was fitted properly, the maid then helped her put her hair up and placed a beautiful hairpin through the bun on her head, leaving the length that draped down to the middle of her back. Smiling happily, Kaida smiled to the maid and headed out of the room toward the dining hall. To her surprise, her brother and all the lords were already gathered at the table chatting happily, one she entered the room, they all looked up from their glasses.
Not understanding precisely why, she was being stared at for so long, she simply walked over to her chair and took a seat, picking up the wine glass that had been poured for her. Swirling it about, she lightly took a sip as she continued to wonder why they were staring so intently. Frustrated by the stares, she spoke up.
Kaida Endo: "I have been wanting to ask this since I got in this room, why on earth is everyone so intent on staring at me? Have I got something on my face that I am not aware of?"
Botan Date: "No it is not that. Your new kimono is absolutely stunning. You chose well on that ream of fabric. It turned out absolutely superb."
Tsubasa Endo: "He is right about that Kaida, it looks absolutely stunning on you."
Kaida Endo: "Oh okay. Here I thought it was something else. Okay then, get over the outfit I am wearing. I have others too, though I am looking forward to studying some more. I have got to learn the rest of the history and figure out a training method for myself. You stated my powers were that of absorbing and transferring power for the most part."
Botan Date: "That is correct. What did you have in mind for a training session?"
Kaida Endo: "Well after a few hours of studying, I was thinking that you might be gracious enough to help me use the absorbing technique and then transferring it to my brother here as practice. I know he may have his own, but that was the best thing I could come up with for training."
Botan Date: "You are right. It will be the most effective method. As for Tsubasa, we will have to work with him to find out what his is. With any luck, he will have a decent power within."
Tsubasa Endo: "You think so. I wonder what it is, I guess I will have to practice with all types to find out. Will I not?"
Botan Date: "No, actually we have a harnessing crystal in one of the halls attached to the library. Belonging to the previous queen, it is the most powerful harnessing stone in existence. It was hid to keep it far away from the lords that have lost their way. When you focus your energy into it after placing your palm on it, it will radiate with a color letting us know what you will specialize in. If two colors become present, you will specialize in more than one area. But I have never seen that happen for anyone other than the queen."
Tsubasa Endo: "That sounds quite intense. Will Kaida have to do that as well?"
Botan Date: "There is no need for her to use the stone. As queen she will naturally be able to absorb any kind of power from any of us to use as her own or transfer abilities from one person to another for that added boost in battle when needed."
Kaida Endo: "So because of the queen's natural ability to absorb and transfer powers, the stone that you use to determine skill has no effect because unlike you all, I will naturally specialize in all of them."
Botan Date: "That is correct. Unlike the rest of us, you will most likely not make the stone bear a particular color, it will remain black due to that fact, or at least it should not generate a color. It has been quite a long time since a queen has touched the stone. But the color dictates what ability one will have."
Tsubasa Endo: "Well then, I suppose after we get some studying in, we head to the stone room and find out what I will specialize in. That would be interesting to know."
Botan Date: "We can do that then. Shall we finish breakfast then and head to the library then? No time like the present, so most say."
Kaida Endo: "Alright then, sounds like we have come up to an agreement then."
They all looked at each other, nodding in agreement, they finished their glasses and headed toward the library through the long corridors. Kaida walked over to the table that still held the books she had been working on two days before. Reopening the books, she sat down and began reading through the books once again. After sitting in the same chair for about three hours, Kaida leaned back stretching over the back side of the seat. As she did, one of the house maids came over with a fresh glass in her hands and set it on the side of the table. Leaning back forward she thanked the house maid taking a small sip. She remembered Botan telling her that they only needed to feed twice a week, was he wanting to make sure that part of his share went to her or something? At any rate, Kaida then turned her eyes back to the book she had been reading. After another couple hours had passed, Botan came and got both of them and took them to the room with the specialized stone. As she entered the room with her brother and Botan, she stared at the enormous crystal that was affixed to a most impressive carving of what appeared to be vampire females holding it firmly in place. It appeared to have at least four standing females leaned against the stone. One female vampire in between each of the four females standing sitting as their hands were raised high as though something could be placed in them. Perhaps weapons of a special nature for the queen. She was impressed with how masterfully crafted it was, the kimono garments adorning the women's figures so elegant in design. Even their facial features and hair were exquisitely done. The crystal itself, the oddest smoked color of greyish black she had ever seen. Walking in further, Botan then explained how the color system on the stone worked.
