Chapter 5
This behavior unfortunately would become an unwanted habit. One that he did not realize he was doing as the months progressed. For his unconscious side was talking to him as he slept. It was as if the vampire in him was telling him what, and who he was. And how he was supposed to act regarding his sister, despite being the only known female. With the law being what it was, there was no way to stop the inevitable. The cursed fate of their family was truly a cruel one. And there was nothing that could be done to help elevate the crushing feeling that comes from bearing that curse. Even Botan was not sure how he could stop these occurrences. Only the overwhelming feeling of absolute jealousy was trying to force its way through. He knew it was probably the same for the other lords as well, though they seemed to be doing a much better job of hiding it from everyone.
Botan sat once again in his favorite evening chair, as was his usual habit, he slowly sipped on the contents of the glass. Swirling it around and around, he dove deep into thought once again, as an array of things flooded his mind once again. Even if he were to have the adjoining door removed, they are next to each other, main doors side by side. Even if he moved him to another part of the building, he would still make his way to her room in his unconscious state. Botan knew it was going to be trying, for it was the same for them once upon a time ago when there were still enough females. Only problem now, all the vampire lords were starting to have to fight the same urge as Tsubasa. Kaida was the only female they knew of and nothing could change that fact. Only one fact was clear, would she accept them all, or would she make most of them all continue to suffer at the overwhelming female shortage? He had no answers for any of these questions. All he could do was have his men go out again, to scour for any signs of any other female pure bloods. Even if they had lost themselves, it was still better than just Kaida alone. But he already knew that that nagging hope was still far too small.
Kaida and Tsubasa had been training hard and trying to perfect the use of their abilities over the past few months. Though it never did seem to be enough, constantly working hard to perfect their abilities. As a constant precaution measure, each of the lords sent out their best scouts to search the lands once again. This was done once a month to ensure the safety of the people in their care. Other than sailing to unknown parts, this was all they could do to try and search for any other females within their own country. The only thing they found, were several sets of male vampire lords that had banded together. With this issue known, immediate action would most assuredly have to be taken to solve this pressing matter sooner rather than later. Gathered in the inner hall, all six listened intently as their scouts made their reports. Sitting quietly in the new chair that had been designed just for her, carved out of one of the larger bamboo trees, it was inset into the trunk as the top half was carved into a beautiful design. Wings wrapped the backside of the chair as curled arm rests were placed on the sides of the seat. Kaida sat with her hands on the armrests as she listened to the horrors they were wreaking.
Apparently, they had been crossing the barriers on the far outskirts of their domain and forcibly removing the humans in their care. Enraged by the news, Kaida furrowed her brows with a severely displeased look. Knowing full well the only ones who could get through their barriers were another pure blood. Getting up from her chair she approached the scout as to confirm for herself just how many the stray lords have taken.
Kaida Endo: (Standing before him with a domineering presence, her anger was clearly emitting from her…) "Just how many do you figure those rouge lords have taken from our lands? Tell me now."
Scout: (Looking flustered and embarrassed, he was unsure of what to make of her domineering presence…) "The exact count is not known my queen. When we spotted their group, we just verified that they were in fact pure bloods and made sure of their numbers before coming back here. The known count of humans missing is unknown at this point."
Kaida Endo: (A look of rage filled her face in such a way that it even made the vampire lords standing by her shrink back some. As pure anger seemed to pulsate from her very being…) "How dare they come onto a territory that is not their own and take humans from our barriers. I will have to perfect making stronger ones. I will not stand for this."
Looking at the scouts she demanded they go back out and track down where they possibly went, making sure to try their best to make note of how many families have missing loved ones. She then turned to Botan and the other lords.
Kaida Endo: (With a determined look in her eyes, it was clear to see she was anxious to try out her new techniques on those who had stolen from them…) "After they come back with a preliminary report on the peoples missing loved ones, I want us to immobilize and track them down. They will pay for harming the peace we have established, and they will remain protected under me."
Tsubasa Endo: (Looking at his sister for confirmation…) "Are you sure Kaida? Is that what you want to do?
Botan Date: (Looking at her just as puzzled...) "Is this an order my queen? It might be quite the battle for your first time."
Turning she walked a few steps forward, making sure of her resolve, she turned back looking at all five of them. A determined stare if they ever saw one, made half of them shiver at the mere sight. The stone had unleashed her presence to its full extent, and they were feeling it now. All they could do was just stand there stunned as she proceeded to make her thoughts known.
Kaida Endo: (With a hard resolve, she stared at them all unmoved…) "I am more than sure. They came onto our territory and took the humans we care for. Their families will be devastated. There is already a shortage on humans and here they are taking what few we care for. UNFORGIVABLE! They will not be pardoned by me. They will die."
Jumping slightly at her statement, all five just bowed and said simultaneously, "As you wish my queen". With a nod of her head to acknowledge that they heard. She sat back in her chair and picked up her glass, she was just to furious to drink anymore, instead she threw the glass across the room. Trying to calm herself, she shut her eyes and took in a few deep breaths as she tried to steady her rage. The other three lords left her and went to the barracks to prepare a garrison to move out. Only Tsubasa and Botan remained as she tried her best to calm down. The two could only stare at each other as the energy surging from her could kill them at any moment if they were not careful. One of many scenarios that scared even Botan. Tsubasa seemed to be sensing something similar as they nervously sat on either side of her. Within mere hours, the garrison was on high alert and some of the scouts had come back with a preliminary count. In three days', time, they had stolen at least seventy-five workers from the outlying fields. Various family members had been pouring into the clinic in the city making noted accounts of who had disappeared.
A flash of anger sparked in Kaida's eyes as Dai Haku walked in informing them that the garrison was ready to move out at the command. With a hard resolve, Kaida stood up as started heading toward the front door. Apparently, that was their sign to get off their ass and move out. Following behind, the lords just looked at each other not sure what to make of her dominating presence. It had been so long since they had anyone to follow besides themselves, and it was messing with them badly. Making it to the armored carriage, Kaida climbed in just as one of the scouts returned. Botan just put his hand up to Kaida letting her know to stay inside.
Botan Date: "I see you have finally made it back. Have you located the possible area the rouge vampires are in? And if so, did you see any of the people that were taken?"
