Chapter 6
After three or so days of sleep, Kaida finally began to wake from her elongated slumber. Turning on her back, she stretched really big as she yawned. Looking to her left, she seen her brother passed out against the wall sitting on the beds edge. She smiled softly as she looked at him. Lightly nudging his leg, she tried her best to shake him awake. After a few minutes of trying, Tsubasa stirred grumpily as he slowly opened his eyes seeing Kaida sitting up in her bed. On instant reaction, he grabbed Kaida and hugged her tightly. Shaking ever so slightly as he did so. She pounded on his side trying to get him to release her. After a few moments, he finally let go. Breathing a heavy sigh of relief as he did. He then looked his sister in the face as a shouting rant left his mouth.
Tsubasa Endo: "Do you have any idea just how afraid I was that you were not going to wake up for close to a week. I had to feed you fluids like I did when you were a child and could not eat much."
Kaida Endo: "Oh okay, that explains why I am not as hungry as I know I should have been. How long was I asleep for anyway?"
Tsubasa Endo: "About three days or so now. I am not quite sure on exact number, I was up most of it, so my days are blurred. Botan should be arriving anytime now with another fresh bottle to add in the bucket. I fed you at least two of them while you were asleep already."
Kaida Endo: "You will not believe what I was dreaming about. It is like the stone was passing on the knowledge of all the other queens as I slept. Apparently, this is a normal occurrence when the queen tries to use more than two separate powers at the same time. The days of sleep increase with each additional power used. I used four, so I slept four days. That is the tradeoff. As long as I am near the stone, it will help to keep me stable."
Tsubasa Endo: "That is utterly amazing. I believe now you are going to want to make sure that is added to the records now. Am I right?"
Kaida Endo: "Yes brother, you are right. But first, I want a bath and something to drink. I feel gross after being asleep for four days. Please make sure the maids change out my bedding with some fresh ones."
Tsubasa Endo: "Alright, I can take a hint. I will head to my room now that you are awake. You get some fresh clothes and a bath in. Botan should be here shortly with that fresh bottle. I will see if I can find a maid to get those beddings changed out."
Kaida Endo: "I sure appreciate that brother. I could so use a bath and a nice soak. Thank you for making sure the bedding gets changed out."
Getting a fresh kimono from the closet, Kaida gathered up everything needed, including a new set of shoes. Holding onto her stuff, she headed out of her room as she proceeded down the hall to the baths. Knocking on the door, she entered once no sound was heard. Placing her clothes on the bench, she grabbed a bath bomb from the shelf and added it to the water. The scent of lavender and roses filled the air as she began to disrobe. Sitting on the stool, she began to take the bucket and fill it with water from the bath as she poured it over her for an initial scrub down. Taking a rag, she scrubbed hard, trying to get everything off. Four days without a bath and she felt absolutely filthy. Once her initial scrub down was finished, she got into the bath and started to soak. Pouring water over her head periodically, she lightly scrubbed the petals of the flowers into her hair. After about ten minutes, she dunked herself all the way under the water, making sure to loosen all the petals out of her hair. Taking a comb to make sure they were all out of her hair. Standing up, she wrung her hair as dry as possible toweling herself off. Kaida hollered for a maid to enter and help her put on her clean kimono properly. Coming in, she helped Kaida straight away, getting each piece organized and even helped her put her hair back. Placing a hairpin through her bun, she smiled at Kaida. Nodding back in satisfaction, she thanked the maid and headed out toward the dining hall area after checking her brother one last time. Once she seen he was still sleeping, she closed the door. As she entered the dining hall, there was a look of shock on all the vampire lords faces. Merely shrugging her shoulders in response to their shock, she took a seat in her normal place as she picked up a filled glass and slowly drank.
Botan Date: "My queen, you have finally woke up and even got a bath in without me even realizing it.
Kaida Endo: "Well, I had been asleep for several days and just felt filthy. Of course, I was going to take a bath first thing when I woke up. Apparently, my brother was up for the most part with me again."
Botan Date: "Yes he basically did. He was feeding you as if you were sick and could not eat on your own. But I guess it worked to a small degree."
Kaida Endo: "Yes, well he has always done that when I was sick or could not eat on my own very well. It is no surprise that he would do that for me again this time."
Botan Date: "You are right my queen; I tend to forget that bond you guys already have. It is already deep in him to take care of you in such a way."
Kaida Endo: "Oh, that is right, I now know what part of the queen's stone's purpose is. It holds all the ancient knowledge that has been lost. It was telling me about the different powers and how I could use them as well as how long I will sleep if I try to use more than two. I intend to start archiving all the information so that there is a record somewhere, including the fact that the queen's stone will tell the next of their duties."
With a look of absolute disbelief and amazement at the same time, Botan and the other lords faces said it all. It was as if it was something, they had never known about the stone being held in the room. So, she proceeded to tell them everything that she had experienced while she was asleep. How it was filled with all the knowledge of the past queens, proper usage of the stone to tell one's powers, and how it helps to recharge the queen after having to use more than one power at any given time. All of these things are only afforded to the queen and her direct bloodline. She sat swirling her glass once again with an overly curious look upon her face. It was as though years of knowledge had been poured into her in mere moments. The little girl look on her face had now clearly been replaced by a look of aged wisdom. She could only wonder if it was this way for all the queens that had come before her.
Botan Date: "The look on your face gives an age that far surpasses my own. What exactly has the stone shown you that no one else gets to see I wonder?"
Kaida Endo: "I am afraid it would take far too long to even explain. I cannot explain it to myself let alone anyone else. I can only say that I will start writing detailed records of anything that stone tells me in detail. I will have plenty of time to figure it all out."
Botan Date: "I suppose you will. I guess there are just some things still unknown to even this old soul. I only hope that you will give us the information to enlighten us all."
Kaida Endo: "That is what the archive is for. I am determined to make sure that it is not lost again. I am sure previous queens have written down this information, it has just been lost and destroyed through the years. Look at the state we are in now."
Botan Date: "You are correct on that. I suppose rebuilding is the only way. We will try to build a system to keep everything safe this time. I am just not sure how at the moment."
Tsubasa had finally woke up from his nap and changed into a clean set of clothes after taking a quick bath. Once he left the bath, he told the maid about changing out the bedding in their rooms. With a smile, she bowed with a "yes sir", and went to work. Walking into the dining hall, he sat in his usual place and picked up the freshly poured glass. Swirling it lightly, he took several gulps before placing it back down. He just seemed to sit with an odd expression upon his face as he was still thinking on all the things his sister had told him. So many new and wonderous things that even the other older lords knew nothing about was truly intriguing to him. Knowing his sister was the one to be able to control it all, was that much more entertaining. As he sat silently, the vampire side of him was just screaming volumes inside of him. As all thoughts kept evolving around Kaida's abilities. Knowing he would soon surpass Botan and the others, his only thought, "I must keep myself in check as I take my rightful place to her side". Botan could only imagine what thoughts were running through his head because he and the other lords were most likely all thinking the same thing or something terribly similar.
