today is the day, the hot summer air flooded the lungs of Xavier
as Xavier set the last of his boxes in the trunk of the car, he lifted his shirt to wipe the sweat off his forehead. Xavier sat down his shirt, suddenly he felt the firm grip from his Mother's small and fragile hand on his shoulder. Xavier drew a smile across his lips, turning his head to look down at his teary eyed Mom, "that's the last of them Bubs!" his Mom sighed as she brought her hands up and just as quickly put them down. Xavier could feel her stress magnified by the way she gripped her hair for a few seconds, the same thing she did when she was tight on money or paying hospital Bill's. Xavier pulled his Mother into a tight hug. "Mom" he let out a tiny groan, and set his chin on her head. They rocked together in place for afew seconds. the mumor of her voice vibrated Xaviers chest. "pardon?" he had pulled away to hear his Mother talk. "I said," she used a sassy tone. "I'm going to miss it here." she mentioned in a low voice, Xavier can see the hurt in his Moms eyes.
Xavier watched his mothers brunette silky hair sway with the wind, Xavier shook his head and crossed his arms. "We will always have the memories of this place no matter where we are. you're my home Mom," he scoffed and pointed in desguist. "not this old creeky thing, alright?" Xavier smiled, he needed to be strong for his hurting Mother. "what about that one girl?" his Mom asked desperately, wanting a clear answer. Xavier set his hands in his Jean pockets. He shrugged with uncertainty. Xavier's baby sister, Piper-Anne, died in a fatal car accident with his Dad that previous spring. Since that day, Xavier's Mother was never the same. she couldn't sleep in the bed she shared with Dad, her even thinking about Piper would cause tears to form in her eyes, so Xavier never brings it up. Xavier turned to the car, avoiding his mothers questions. "let's hit the road, yeah?" xavier bit his bottom lip, he dangled the keys over his short Mom. Laughter came from them both when she failed to grab the keys from Xavier.
Then the, Tanned, Brunette, bad-ass 17 year old strides his way to his Mothers car, and climbing behind the driver's wheel. "San Francisco here we come." Xavier sighed out, his Mother grabbed his attention as she slammed the passenger side door shut, she was sad. of course, who wouldn't? leaving 12 years of your life behind to live out your dead daughters dream, tragic.
