Chapter 30 - It really wasn't my fault

Stella winced as Simon poked around the wound, "I'll tell you. Stop the bleeding first."

Simon sighed and opened his suitcase and busied himself with Stella's leg.

He straightened up after some minutes and carefully removed the bandage from her shoulder. Though there was not much wound there, he still cleaned it and put on a band-aid.

Simon then turned away as Stella was again fighting a dizzying feeling.

She snapped back and said, "Wait!! You're leaving?"

Simon turned back with a kind smile and said, "I'll be back."

Stella slumped back into her bed. She dared not close her eyes, as everytime she did, Den's hungry face with those fiery red eyes flashed before her. She fought off the tiredness for about a minute before she realised that Simon's I'll be back could mean that he would come back tomorrow or any other day.

Stella staggered out of bed and pulled away the dress she was wearing, which was now in tatters. She sighed, "I'll have to apologise to June. I ruined her dress."

She confirmed her suspicions about her previous wounds opening up as Stella noticed the bandages on her waist were strained with blood.

She pulled on one of Den's t-shirts that he had given to her before she asked June for some dresses. Stella was struggling with a pair of boxer shorts when she suddenly lost her balance and would have fallen down if not for a firm and cold chest that she bumped into.

Stella's heart was seized with fear when she felt the coldness, but she was also a bit giddy as she thought that Den would finally stop being angry with her. Stella slowly turned around and was disappointed, though she should have been happy or relieved, to see Simon.

"You're back!!" Stella smiled as she clung to him for support. Simon helped her to the bed and then helped her put on the shorts.

He put a brown paper bag in her lap and said, "Here."

Stella opened the bag and her eyes lighted up upon seeing a big double burger and fries in it. Simon spoke as he walked towards the door again, "I admit it's not the ideal meal, and hardly something a doctor should give his patient, but this was the best I could find at this hour."

Stella opened her mouth to ask where he was going, but he was gone before she had a chance to. Stella barely had time to change her expression when Simon was back, a carton af milk and a glass in his hand.

He said as he set the glass on the table, "Eat. You need some energy. Whatever it may be. I can tell you're almost at the point of fainting."

Stella gladly dug in. It had been some time since she had eaten fast food. As Den always made her home-cooked food and she didn't have any money to buy for herself.

Stella spoke as Simon settled in a chair, "I think some previous ones opened up."

Simon narrowed his eyes, "What the hell were you doing!?!?"

Stella put up her hands in defeat, "This time it was really not my fault. I'll tell you everything after I've eaten."

"Everything." Simon muttered as he pulled up her t-shirt to check the wounds.
