As Simon started the car and started driving, Stella looked at him, "Why did you bring your Jeep?"
Simon said as he continued to look at the path, "To take you of course."
Stella slightly pouted, "I would have preferred if you ran."
Simon: "And left you behind?"
Stella: "No I rode on Allen's back once. It was great!!"
Simon shook his head, "So you got a taste of that huh? I've got to say you're a weird one. Most people would be horrified if they ever rode a vampire."
Stella chuckled, "I think we already established I'm weird. Most people also would not be hanging out with a vampire after being fed on by another just 24-hours before."
Simon looked at her in horror and Stella shrugged, "That's just who I am. If I'm able to joke about something, you can rest easy that the matter has become something I've accepted."
Simon looked disappointed, "I really did not take you to be one to surrender to fate."
Stella: "And you were right. I will never ever surrender to fate. But I'm a patient person. I'll wait for my chance. After all, I escaped the clutches of five vicious vampires all on my own. You guys, with your mellow brains, would be like a breeze."
Simon was taken aback at her statement. It really was difficult to understand what went on in her mind. Seeing Simon absorbed in thought, Stella probed, "What are you thinking about?"
Simon: "Well just that, if you can run away any time you want, why are you still here?"
Stella put a finger under her chin and thought for some time. She smiled childishly at Simon and said, "I need you to heal me, don't I? And I get to live rent free with Den, though I will pay him back. And you too. And well...you guys are more interesting than you all think."
Simon was dazed upon hearing her last sentence. He had heard that one before, about a century ago, but it seemed like a lifetime.
Simon snapped back to see Stella gazing enquiringly at him. "Was that too frank and weird?" She asked with a tilt of her head.
Simon shook his head and changed the topic, "Tell me about yourself?"
Stella shook her head, "No no. You said you would tell me on the way. You guys are able to eat!!!!"
Simon: "Yeah I guess that's right. Well yeah we are. And that's about it."
Stella: "So, how does it work?"
Simon: "Whatever do you mean?"
Stella: "Can you guys survive on food alone? Without blood?"
Simon: "No. We need blood, whether animal or human, to stay alive."
Stella: "Then, does food serve any purpose to you all?"
Simon: "I guess it does. It helps us to mask our inhumanity in front of humans. We can easily dine with them."
Stella: "Does it have the usual human effect?"
Simon: "What in god's name do you mean by that?"
Stella: "What does it taste like? Do you get full?"
Simon: "It tastes like, well, each food has a different taste, like every person's blood. And yes, we do get full. Just like when we drink."
Stella: "What about the taste? Is it different than humans for you guys?"
Simon: "I don't really know. You will have to ask Allen for that."
