But Den snapped, "What do you want me to do then? Take responsibility for her? Keep her in my home forever? You guys don't know..."
He put a hand on his forehead and said, his voice cracking, "What else can I do? Her blood...crazes me. I-I don't think I can control myself when she is around."
June put a hand on his shoulder, "That's true. She really must have special blood. It's difficult to control my desire when I'm around her too. And this is when I've only drunk human blood once or twice."
Allen: "It doesn't appeal to me much. Sure, I want to taste it whenever I smell it, and the desire is a little stronger compared to when I'm around other humans, but..."
June looked at him, "It's because you've never tasted human blood. It's easier for you when you don't know the taste. Den, on the other hand..."
Den composed himself and said, "Doesn't matter. I'll take her to the council once she is healthy again."
June spoke again, "No Den. You can't do that. If it's difficult for you to keep her here, we'll take her. It will be easier for me and Allen."
Den looked away again, "You two don't understand. I've tasted it...."
June and Allen both looked horrified upon hearing this. "You've. . you've tasted it...?" June stammered.
Den nodded and then said in a small voice, "She's special."
June almost fainted and Allen caught her and said, "She's special.....and you've tasted her... That means...."
Den nodded again. The three were quiet for a long time before Allen said, "Does she know?"
Den: "She's knows I've tasted her blood. Doesn't know she's special. And there's another reason I can't let you guys take her."
June and Allen looked at Den's face.
"The Zukao brothers have tasted her." He said in a solemn voice.
"Shit!!!!" June exclaimed.
"Oh fuck...!!!" Allen slapped his forehead.
Den looked at the two of them, "If she went to live with you, they would very easily track her scent. It would not be difficult at so less distance."
Allen stood up, "That's all fine. But what I still don't understand is why you have to give her up to the council?"
Den also stood up, "That's my decision. I found her."
June snapped, "That's right. You found her, not made her. So she's not yours. She's her own person and should be allowed to make her own choices."
Den was about to say something when Allen cut in, "Oh hey, shortcake. You finished your lunch?"
Stella walked in the room, nodding.
Allen rubbed his hands together, "What do you say we go for some ice-cream?"
Stella chuckled, "Take permission from June first."
She looked at June who forced out a smile, "Of course."
Stella then turned towards Allen and said, "Let's go then. Dessert after food is the best."
The two then walked out of the room.
After they were gone, Den said, "He's a really good actor."
June looked at Den, her face dark, "Not as good as you. You've been with Stella for a month and she doesn't suspect anything."
Den smiled, "Oh she does. She's just too smart and knows too much about vampires to confront me face to face."
