Chapter 16 - You're almost treating me like a human

Once they were out of the cottage, Allen had proposed that that they should run there.

He had said that they hadn't brought a car as running was easy and faster.

Stella slapped her forehead, "Are you an idiot? I cannot run as fast or as far as you guys."

Allen chuckled, "I'll do the running. You can get on my back."

Stella was a little hesitant, "Will it be okay. Won't I be too heavy for you?"

Allen: "Come on. Don't you know anything about us? Look at you, I could probably lift you only on my palm. Now come on. We need to stop by somewhere to get me a cap or something."

He squatted down and Stella climbed on Allen's back, saying, "Is it safe?"

Allen said, "Nothing exciting in life is perfectly safe." And the next second Stella felt the air leave her chest as the wind hit her face so hard that it stung, and her long bushy hair flew out behind her.

Stella lifted her face and closed her eyes.

Allen's voice rung in her ears, "Keep your face down if you feel the wind if too much."

When Stella did not reply, Allen slowed down a little and asked, "What's wrong? I can slow down if you want."

Stella spoke, a smile on her lips and eyes still closed, "I'll kill you if you slow down. This is the best feeling ever!!!!!"

Allen turned his head to look at Stella. He said, "You really are crazy."

Stella replied, "I would be crazy not to have gone crazy after seeing and hearing so many crazy things."

Allen was confused and chose not to reply. He had met this girl today only, but he was coming to like her more and more.

Soon, Allen and Stella stood in front of a high-end ice-cream parlour. Allen had his nose and lower part of the face covered with a mask printed with skeletons and a baseball cap on his head.

Stella looked at him and rolled her eyes, "This way you'll be attracting the most attention."

"You don't know the stuff kids are into these days. Many people wear these." Allen said as he walked inside.

Stella shook her head and also entered, a little embarrassed by her plain clothes and trying to pull down her top to hide the bandages that were wrapped around her waist.

Allen turned to her and said, "Go order something. I'll go and look for a table."

Stella: "Don't you want one too."

Allen smiled, though Stella did not see that, and ruffled her hair that were already very messy and fell a little lower than her waist. He said, "You're almost treating me like a human. Aren't you shortcake?"

It ws then Stella realised that she had indeed forgot for a moment about Allen being a vampire. He was so easy to be around, very much unlike a certain someone she lived with.

As Stella walked over to the counter, the girl taking orders eyed her with suspicion. Stella did not mind that and smiled at the girl.

It was nice to be among humans after so much time. She did not mind even if some of them did not like her.
