Allen held June's face in his hand and said, "Sorry my queen for worrying you. We ran into some circumstances."
June really tried to stay angry, but even Stella could see the anger fading from her eyes, being replaced by tenderness, "What happened?"
Before Allen replied, Stella cut in, "Sorry. It was me." She pointed at her bandaged palm.
June stood up from over Allen and walked over to Stella, her beautiful face contorted with worry, "What the hell happened? Why do you have new bandages? And why couldn't you come straight back? Simon will be here any minute, it's already dark."
Stella opened her mouth and closed it again. She did not know how much she was supposed to know. Allen spoke up, dusting his behind, "Her hand was cut really badly. There's was too much glass and blood. Even I was barely..."
He did not finish. Both Stella and June understood. Suddenly, Stella was glad that she had been with Allen when the accident happened. He said even he was barely able to control himself, Allen, who had never tasted human blood, so it didn't appeal to him as much. Stella was sure that June would have lost her composure, despite her strong will. And Den..... Stella even shuddered to think that there was still a chance she might become a pet again, a source of food.
As soon as she shuddered, both Allen and June's head snapped in her direction. June asked, "What's wrong? Are you cold? It's not really a cold evening, I think."
Stella smiled. Of course, the vampires were always cold. So they dressed up in warm clothes even during the warmest of months. She said, "No I'm not cold. Where's Sharp?"
Stella looked around. Even with all the commotion they had caused, Den hadn't come out.
June replied, "He went to Simon's house as soon as the sun set. He had something to talk to him about, I think. Anyway, let's go inside."
The three walked into the cottage and the two kept Stella company.
As they sat, Stella looked up from her new mobile on which she had been playing a game.
She held her face in her hands and looked at June and Allen, who were sitting talking about something. "So, what's the story?" she asked.
Stella noticed that both of them stiffened instantly. "What story?" Allen asked, recovering first.
Stella suppressed a smile, so there really was something they were hiding from her. Seemed like she would have to heal really quickly and try to escape. Stella tilted her head, pretending to be innocent, "Why, your story?"
Both Allen and June blinked in confusion. Stella loved how their actions seemed to be in perfect sync.
Stella giggled as she said, "Your love story, idiots."
June heaved a sigh of relief as Allen let out a small oh. He scratched his head and said, "Well, I guess you could say that it was twilight all backwards. Just not that dramatic."
Stella: "What do you mean?"
Allen: "Well, I was a human, and I fell in love with June."
Stella turned towards June, "So, you turned him?"
June nodded. She looked a little melancholy for some reason that Stella could not fathom.
Stella asked again, "Are you a turned vampire like Allen too?"
