Stella nodded and walked over to Allen. She did not notice June signalling something to Allen behind her back. Stella started cleaning his wounds and Allen winced in pain, "Ouch. Careful. Look at June. She's doing it so nicely. Den doesn't even seem to be in any pain."
Stella: "Two reasons. I'm not June. And Sharp's not as weak as you."
Allen laughed, "You really are something else. Tell me something Stella, how are you able to live among vampires so easily, knowing that you could become food anytime?"
June snapped, "Allen!!!!?!"
Stella smiled, "It's fine June. Well, first of all, there's only a chance that I'll become food while living here. And...well let's just say it won't be the first time for me."
Allen seemed to be taken aback by her response as Stella continued, "And also, there's the fact that I've nowhere to go. At least until I'm healed, I need a place to live. I will search for work when I'm healed."
Seeing Allen's expression, Stella chuckled, "You seem to be taken aback."
Den said from the other side of the room where he was in conversation with June, "You have that effect on people."
Stella: "I guess." She then went back to cleaning Allen's wounds before saying, "So, now is it my turn to ask something."
Allen, "Ask away."
Stella: "How come your wounds are not healing instantly?"
Allen: "What do you mean?"
Stella: "I knew some vampires before you guys. Their wounds healed instantly."
Allen's eyes dimmed a little, "It would probably be because they fed on human blood."
Stella responded with a small "oh". She could not think of anything else to say.
Allen continued, "And as I've never tasted human blood, my healing capacity is not much. It's almost as slow as humans."
Stella pouted, "There you guys go again. Always insulting humans." But even as she said this, her eyes seemed to brighten up a little. Hearing that Allen had never fed on human blood, she had a newfound respect for him.
Allen said, "Is it now my turn?"
Stella rolled her eyes, "We're not playing 20 questions."
Allen put his hands over his heart, "Oh my god. So cruel. My fragile heart can't take this."
Stella chuckled, "Ask away, drama queen."
Allen: "How old are you?"
Stella gave Allen a weird look, "What kind of a question is that? I believe June must have told you."
Allen: "But I don't really believe her. I want to hear it from your mouth."
Stella sighed, "I'm eighteen. Go on, make fun of my height."
Allen patted her head and said, "I'll save it for sometime when you're not in direct contact with my wounds, shortcake."
Stella chuckled, "Wise decision. Now, what is this mark on tour chest?"
Allen's shirt had been pulled down a little when he had clutched at it. It showed a horizontal line.
"Oh this?" Allen further pulled down his shirt to reveal a 'J' on his chest.
Stella was suddenly aware of stares from the other side of the room and knew that Den and June were listening. But there was no harm, if it was something forbidden, Allen would not tell and the matter would be forgotten.
But Allen said, "It's a soulbond mark."
