Birdie didn't know what came over her. She kissed Asher. She still could believe it, she kissed him back, and boy wasn't it wonderful. He seriously knew what he was doing, and she really enjoyed it , but she shouldn't have done it. She was told to leave the WSIA alone and she just kissed with their best agent. Now she was making an attempt to run away from him, but she knew it would be difficult.
She started to accelerate in her car, and took a turn, but she knew he would be right behind her so she continued to do this turns and changed os pace between seconds and after about half an hour she missed him. At this Birdie couldn't believe it but was also relieved. She also had this feeling that she couldn't explain, like regret that she lost him.
As she realised that that was it, she shook her head and tried to clear her head. She isn't supposed to like him at all, not as a friend, and certainly not as she was starting to like him. This was so frustrating.
When Birdie got home she went inside and was immediately bombarded with questions about what happened and why she was so late. Her group was there, and Jason was the most worried one. They all knew about the WSIA as she told them to help her, and they were anxious to know if something happened to her or if Asher did something to hurt her.
"Nothing happened, we just talked and i came home. No biggie" she said. She didn't want to lie, but she couldn't tell them what happened either. "Anyway, what are you all doing here ?" the only thing she wanted to do now was play the piano to clear her mind. She had a turmoil of feelings and she didn't know what they meant.
"We agreed to meet here to celebrate remember ?" answered Alice. They did arranged to celebrate at their house and comment the party. "I'm sorry, I totally forgot. Ok, can we do a quick review of the night ? I really need to play the piano, if you let me. If not then we celebrate and then I play, whatever you want" she really hoped they would let her.
"Of course we let you B, let's do this quick and then you will give us a concert alright ?" said Jason with a wink at the end of the sentence. "Alright COO fill me in on how product is selling and how is our next project going" and thus they continued the evening. The "meeting " lasted for an hour and half, but it wasn't as heavy as the one they had in the office. They joked all the time and drank at the same time, toasting from time to time for the successful evening they had.
"Alright I think we got everything wrapped up, good work, I'm really proud of you all. Thank you for your hard work really" Birdie was really grateful to be able to count on a team this good and that were her friends at the same time.
"Well I guess it's time for us to listen to our master" Scarlett joked, Birdie was relieved that she was going to be able to relax after the horrible day she had. She got up and walked over to the piano and sat down. She started warming up with a simple but melancholic piace, Venetian Gondola, by Felix Mendelssohn. When she finished her friends applauded her, but she just nodded and stretched her arms to get ready for the piece she was going to play. She decided to play a piece that her mother played sometimes, it was one of the most difficult pieces she would ever play, but still it got her mind off things. after all all the concentration she put in the piece helped her to put her mind at rest.
She started to play the sonate "Pathetique" by Beethoven, the piece lasted for twenty minutes, and it was in three parts. The first one was potent, with really loud and big chords, that reminded her of someone screaming for clarity. She played with strength and she got lost in the fast and loud song till she finished the first part.
The second part was slow and quiet, it was also very melancholic and sad, and Birdie played it with such emotion. She closed her eyes and felt the song. When she finished the second part she paused, breathed and started the third part. This one felt like a release for her, it was really fast, but it was a combination of the first two, and it felt like a battle for those feelings to go and to move on.
After she played for the twenty minutes straight, her arms were a bit cramped, but she felt much better. Playing really helped her and she was now calmer and more clear-headed. She turned around and she her friends with their mouths agape. She knew the piece was impressive, but she still didn't think it would cause this reaction.
"What the hell" murmured John, Birdie just laughed, now in a better mood, "I think you're in the wrong career" said Alice. At this Birdie and Jason, who already knew the extent of her skillfulness with her instrument laughed openly.
"I'm pretty sure about my career, but thanks" Answered Birdie still with a smile on her face. "I'm flattered" she really was, it was important for her that her friends liked her music as much as she did.
While this was going on, Asher was punching the punching bag he got in his room in his room in HQ (headquarters), he didn't know how she could get away from him. She was better than he thought. He could still feel her lips on his and he could still taste her in his mouth. She was driving him crazy. He had to do something to clear his mind of her. He had to find her, and he panned to do do it tomorrow in her work, but he was getting impatient. All he wanted was her. He was going crazy, he never wanted any woman, he only messed around but never got romantically involved with anyone, but now he was head over heels with this girl.
He had to find a way of making her listen to him. He would find her tomorrow.
