Birdie didn't know what to do. She could decline the offer, but it would seem rude. Her mind didn't know what to choose, but she had to do it fast.
Her mouth betrayed her mind and she agreed without thinking, "Sure, it would be my pleasure" she said. Birdie started thinking what she wanted to play while she woke up from her sit and went over to the piano.
She thought she would play something that wouldn't impress a lot so it wouldn't be so noticeable that she could really play the piano. She looked at the audience in the TV set and saw a kid with a Mulan doll. She always loved that movie, so she decided on "The Reflection". She would make it a bit more complicated than the original version and then she could go back to her interview.
Birdie sat in the piano stool like so many times before, started playing the piece. She knew it from the times that her mother and her watched the movie and then played the songs together. She made a few arrangements that to her just were a few additions, but for the audience it was the most difficult way they ever saw this piece being played.
Birdie finished the piece with a boom and as alway happened with whatever she did, the audience was stunned. Birdie got up and bowed like the pianist do, and then went straight to the dofa again.
"What the hell !!" yelled Kurtis "You pursued the wrong career if you ask me" he added. He couldn't believe how good she was. It was insane. Otherworldly. "You're a piano Goddess if you ask me, and I think everyone who saw this could agree" he said again. He couldn't get past the fact that she was one of the best pianist he ever heard play.
Birdie then realised that she maybe did too many arrangements on the song and now they were all like wow she's a really good pianist.
"Thank you " she said. That was the only thing she thought of saying.
"Well now that we now that you're not only talented with computers and business but also with music we won't be letting you alone for some time" Kurtis said.
"Unfortunately, the time is running out and we only have some minutes left so I'll finish the interview with the question that we are anxious to hear the answer to, who is this mysterious boy that was seen kissing you yesterday night ?"
Birdie knew this was coming, so she had prepared an answer that would make her look mature enough to not be followed around to see if she had any more lovers.
"That was my boyfriend, whom I've been seeing for a while now. He was in the party yesterday and came before we left to congratulate me. And before you ask I will not tell you who he is, I would like to keep his identity private for now" she answered very politely.
Birdie had to lie on this, she didn't want to continue talking about Asher for two reasons, the minute she talks about him she starts blushing and all she can think about is the kiss. The second one is that she doesn't want him to have his identity as secret agent exposed. What she didn't realise is that she wasn't doing it only to protect his identity, but because her feelings towards him were making her feel protective over him.
Kurtis saw her blush just mentioning the mysterious man and tried to pry a little more to find out her feelings about this man are.
"So how's your relationship with the mistery guy and how does it fit in your work" he asked.
"Well, I'm still adjusting because, since the accident it's really hard to trust people, so I'm trying to open up to him and make this work. He on the other hand is super sure he wants me all the way, and he's letting me do my thing you know ? So it's cool"
Kurtis saw her blush again and pointed it out, "Hey you're blushing there, that's so cute" he said and she blushed even more.
Birdie decided to say some more "I actually have a date with him tonight"
"You do ? What are you going to do ?" Kurtis asked. This interview was really coming together. He didn't know what to expect since she is still young and just started in the business world, but she was so interesting she managed to fill and hour interview and could continue.
"Well, I don't know, it's a surprise" Birdie answered. She was getting really excited about the date and seeing Asher. She missed him which was weird since she just started to meet him, but she did feel kinda safe when she was with him, and that is a feeling she never really had since her family passed away.
"Well you'll have to tell us some other time, for now this is all you can tell us since the interview has come to an end. We are so glad that you could come and I think I speak for everyone saying that we are really looking forward to your next project" Kurtis said.
He gave Birdie a hug and they said goodbye to the TV before going backstage to get their stuff.
Kurtis approached Birdie, "Starbuck in front of your office, tomorrow, nine a.m. yes or no ?" he said whispering.
Birdie was out of words for a second but managed to come out of it and answer "I'll be there" she said. Now she was curious as to what he wanted to talk about.
She was going out through the back door since it was possible that after the show was over some reporters would want to interview her, and she didn't know she had a surprise coming.
Asher was in front of the door, leaning against his range rover and looking handsome as ever.
Birdie didn't know what came over her but she run to him and hugged him so tight as if she didn't see him this morning.
Asher didn't expect that reaction but wasn't going to complain so he hugged her as tight, "You ready ?" he asked. Birdie nodded but didn't let go. Asher really thought there was no way that a person this cute ever existed.
