Chapter 45 - Yes Drill Sergeant!

I did not follow Professor James' advice. In the heat of the moment, I said I would stop improving, but the more I looked at my enchantment, the more problems I saw with it, and the more I wanted to fix them. It now has a 90% accuracy.

"Hmm, I know! I'll just copy the enchantment down and apply the weaker one."

'Wow, such revolutionary thinking, I would have never thought of keeping a copy of my easily reproducible enchantments.'

'Shut'

I started towards the golem workshop after I enacted my master plan. I was curious so I asked what the record for accuracy in golem analysis was.

"Ah, for enchantments, it's 62% and for people, it's 92% and I hold that record. As for the enchantment that you showed me, it's gotta be around 86%." Professor James didn't show any suspicion at all.

"So, with that out of the way, what's my budget for my second golem?"

"Alright, I'll answer that with a question, how much money do you have? You have to pay for all of your materials. This lesson will teach you how to manage money, build affordable husks, and control more than one golem at the same time."

"Well, it's a damn good thing I've got Matter Manipulation."

"Look, Ingen, I get that you're an adolescent now, and thus allowed to swear, but it's still disrespectful to be so familiar with your senior."

"Sorry, it's a bad habit. Anyway, so the only thing I get is a spirit core right?"

"Yes, you also need to arrange for a workspace, be that your dorm or some rich relative's golem factory is not my problem, from now until you finish the only interaction I will have with you is grading."

"Yes sir!"

'Finally! A project!'

I left the golemancy shop in such good spirits that I almost forgot that I had a Dueling lesson in five minutes. After a quick flight to the outdoor training area, I was immediately berated by a Drill Seargent from the army.

"You are LATE trainee!" she yelled at me point-blank with knife-hands in my face.

"Ma'am I am precisely two minutes and thirty-six seconds early!" I said, instinctively becoming tense and standing up straight.

"Five minutes early is ten minutes late in this class maggot! You will arrive on time next class or so help me I will skin you alive trainee! Am I clear!?" For some reason, I believed that was not an empty threat.

"Yes Ma'am!"

"Now hit that target!" she pointed towards a dummy with many battle scars.

I instantly obeyed, I made a spear out of the wood I keep alive on my belt and threw it with all my might, enhancing its acceleration with telekinesis. The spear flew at breakneck speed and impaled the dummy with enough force to knock it out of its fastenings.

"You are WEAK trainee! You didn't even confirm that I was your teacher before you destroyed the target! You just cracked under the pressure of a loud voice! PROFESSOR UNDA!"

Professor Unda appeared from a shed where she was gathering up training dummies.

"What Clara? Can't you see I'm lifting heavy things?"

The dummies did not look heavy in her hands.

"This little traitor in training looks fit as a fiddle, why don't you let him do it?"

"Sure, my arms are tired anyway."

Thud!

The seven training dummies met the ground.

"You have until class starts to move these to their place." Professor Unda said

'One minute and forty-three seconds.' My glasses had a clock.

I ran to the dummies and evenly distributed the materials of my arm to each one since my arm was conductive and the dummies were not. With only one arm and telekinesis, I pulled them to the other end of the range. The next part was the hard part, I consolidated the parts of my arm into one of the dummies and put it in place.

"Time's up!" my glasses agreed with Unda's assessment.

"That's -huff- the best -huff- I -huff- can do," I said, reforming my arm and wiping the sweat off my face.

"By the end of today, you'd better be able to finish that task! Or I will make you do it again tomorrow!" Clara got back into my face and was just as loud as before.

It's at this moment when I realized that there were other kids that had arrived after me all standing in formation with fear and laughter in their eyes.

'What did I get myself into?'

"Oh! And I didn't forget about you assholes! You'll pay for being late! Not to mention you all ignored your comrade's plight! Moving seven dummies should be child's play to a group like this! You will all enter your mandatory military service next year and if you aren't prepared I will personally rip your head off and shit down your throat! Understood?!"

'But I'm only nine, how am I supposed to keep up with the adults?'

'Don't worry, they'll train your body, and your in the stage of your life that you're getting muscle at a rapid rate.'

'I guess, I just hope they don't break my tiny body.'

I felt a flick on my forehead.

"I get that you have a superior spirit, but that doesn't mean you can skip out on lectures! Stay in this realm and I'll let you keep your eyes!" I still couldn't detect a single trace that she was making an empty threat.

"Yes Drill Sergeant!"
