"Boel! It's perfect! Two, reassign designation as Boel."
"Designation reassigned, is that all?"
"Yup, you can go back to sleep mode now if you want."
"Yes sir."
"Why did you suddenly change speech patterns?"
The door shut on Boel's charging room.
"Weird. Needs further study."
"You know what actually needs further study? Us. You keep putting work in front of me." Laura was finally fed up with my neglect.
"No, I don't. I just have a lot of work on my plate." I said without a second thought
Laura's anger was tangible.
"So you don't talk to me for a WHOLE WEEK instead, staying holed up in your dorm, building a golem, and you expect ME to believe that YOU are putting me FIRST?! What do you take me for? An idiot?"
"No ma'am!" I subconsciously started building skeleton armor as flight beat fight.
"What's with this 'ma'am' bullshit?! I'm talking to you!"
'Calm down Ingen, Laura is not a threat, you just have to calmly respond to her and fix the situation.'
"Right," I said aloud to avoid making my eyes go colorless. "I'm sorry. I had a golemancy exam and I was very stressed out. I cope with stress by making things." I showed Laura a useless trinket I had been changing in my hand over and over. "See, you scared the shit out of me."
Laura drew into herself and spoke meekly "Sorry."
An odd atmosphere fell over the room, and both of us were silent for a while.
"It's too quiet! Let's go on a walk." I finally spoke up after twenty minutes of stillness.
"Agreed."
"Orin, you stay here, Denny, you're up on security."
"Why Denny?"
"Well Orin can speak and understand us, he can read my mind later but this way I only have Spirit to give me an advantage in a war of words, and we definitely need security if we go by my track record."
"Ok, I can't argue with that." is what Laura said
'So he expects to get into a fight? I'd better prepare.' Is what she must have been thinking
We collected our things and started our journey around the school. After ten minutes nothing happened, and it was starting to get on my nerves.
"Denny, stop."
"Why are we stopping?"
"Hold on tight." My wings unfolded and I grabbed onto Laura.
"What? AHHHHHHH!"
With a thought, a protective layer of air appeared in front of us, stopping bugs, birds, and dust from reaching our faces.
"You're way too quiet when things get tense. So I figured I'd show you something that would wake you up." I shouted over the wind and Laura's screams.
"You are SO lucky I didn't wear a dress!" Laura reminded me of the normal attire of a lady.
"What are you doing?! Open your eyes!" I still had to scream to get Laura to hear me.
"NOPE! Too scary! What if you drop me?!"
"Ha!, Like I would let you off that easily!" My prosthetic and skeleton armor had changed shape to securely grab onto Laura's waist and legs, she couldn't fall unless the whole glider fell to pieces.
Laura opened her eyes and immediately shut them.
"AHHH! Why do you have to do this to me?!"
"I want to show you my world, where flight is everywhere, people don't fight, and Eneru is for everyone."
Laura opened her eyes once more and tried to force herself to not shut them.
"I want to see your world, but all I see is fear and falling!" She shut her eyes again.
I flew down to Denny and let Laura out of her securing restraints.
"It's ok, that's because it's my world. I'm sure I would be afraid of your world." I started to clean off the graffiti on Denny, he was all alone with no orders so when people wrote on him with chalk, he did nothing.
"What makes you so sure!? What if my world is amazing and pretty?"
"My world is amazing and pretty to me, but you found it scary and new." There was not a hint of malice in my words.
"Well, maybe invite me to your world some more and I'll get used to it." Laura was suddenly bashful.
"Will do, but I think I'll call it a night soon." I sat on Denny's shoulders, I was holding up so many spells at once to make the flight comfortable that I had nearly exhausted myself. "Wanna hang out in my tree?"
"Sure."
"Denny, accommodate."
The golem flexed and let us sit on each one of his artificial biceps, and I laughed about how macho he was the whole ride. When we got back to the tree, the atmosphere was much lighter and we chatted until night, despite my exhaustion. Needless to say, my mug got a lot of attention.
"Shouldn't you be getting back to your dorm? It's kind of late."
"I mean, it already is late, it would be dangerous to go out."
"Well, you have to sleep somewhere."
"Right here is fine." She laid down on the floor to show her point.
"You've got to sleep upstairs, school rules."
"Ok, sure." She said while barring the door. "I have yet to say this, but it's been on the tip of my tongue all day, but..." Her feet wouldn't sit still "I think I- I love you." she looked away with burning cheeks.
"Well I'll be goddamned, I thought you already knew that." I slyly kissed her and assembled her bed and my bed on separate floors.
"But I wanna sleep on this floor, it's lower so it stays cool."
"I can do that." A divider split the room in half with my bed and her bed separated by a wall.
"I can work with this, good night."
"Good night! Love you!"
