Rayla's POV:
"What do you choose?" Ever since I got the choices, I have been weighing the pros and cons of every situation and have finally made my decision.
I exhale deeply as I tell him, "I'll come with you, but I won't be a courtier but will be an assassin. " Akatsuki's face erupts in a smile, "Good." It is the first time I have since him smile when he got me, except the wicked grin but that doesn't count.
"Now, until you get the whole handbook, there will be two rules you have to follow."
"Rules?"
"The first rule is to always call me, Sire."
"Sire?"
"The second rule is to always obey me."
"Obey?"
"Are you going to repeat everything I'm going to say?" he asks, suddenly angry. I quickly shake my head and mumble, "Sorry."
"You have to change into this." he hands me a pile of black clothes. I nod my head as I take the pile of clothes and go to the toilet to change.
I untuck the clothes and find a black shirt with a pair of black pants, black socks and black shoes. There is also a black cloak. I quickly put the clothes except for the cloak, unsure what to do with it. I walk outside and see Akatsuki sitting on a seat, checking his phone.
I clear my throat, trying to get his attention. "Wear the cloak and put the hood on." He instructs, without looking up. I wrap the cloak around my neck and clip the two clips on the edge. I then put over the hood over my head so only part of my nose and my mouth, plus a few strands of my black hair show. "What's the second rule?"
"Um..." I search my brain, "Always obey you?" It came more like a question.
"Good. Now follow, keep your eyes downward and don't talk to anybody. Do you understand?" I nod my head. "Words, Raylana."
"Yes, Sire."
"Good." He starts walking out of the plane, with his bodyguards flanking his sides. As soon as we exit the plane, my footsteps halt. I look around in wonder.
The streets busy with activity. Different people buying and socialising, salespeople shouting out discounts. The weirdest thing is that all the females are wearing hoods over their heads. "RAYLANA!" I see Akatsuki glaring at me. I gulp, as I start walking towards him.
He grabs my arm and pulls me forward. "I told you to keep walking." Suddenly we go through a person. I scream, "AHHHHH!" I hand clamps on my mouth, "Will you stop screaming?" I shrug my shoulder, not sure of my answer. Akatsuki's eyes suddenly turn black, "I'm going to ask again, will you stop screaming?"
I nod quickly and he removes his hand from my mouth. "We put a spell on ourselves to protect us. Nobody can see or hear us." With that, they start walking again. I put my head down and start following them.
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
I don't know how long we have been walking, but legs have started having cramps. I haven't complained ever since The whole black-eye incident. We haven't even stopped to take a rest. Right now, we are trudging up a cliff.
I stop to take a deep breath. Sweat is running down every fibre of my body. The bodyguards, who I the names are Michael and Jackson, are watching me with amusement in their eyes. I growl.
Not eaten anything for the past, I think, five hours hasn't done anything to control my Urges. "Stop growling, we're almost there," comes Akatsuki's voice. We walk to the top, "There it is, The Assassin's Keep."
My mouth falls open, as I graze at the castle in front of me. The whole structure stands proud, as the four towers are held high. As we near it, I see stone covering every inch of the castle, no cracks in place. The two guards, who are positioned beside the door, open it to reveal a glamorous room.
The walls stretched on and on, with tapestries covering every inch of the walls. Lights hanging from the roof, light up the whole room. I see two thrones sitting magnificently in the middle of the altar. "Wow," I whisper.
"Wow, indeed." Akatsuki nods, "Keep your head down!" Bipolar much? I keep my head down and follow them upstairs cases and down halls.
We finally reach a room with a wooden door. Akatsuki opens the door, and I see three people sitting on the couch. A woman sitting on the right, the man sitting on the left with the little girl in the middle.
"Paul."
"Sire." The strange man stands up and comes towards us and shakes Akatsuki's hand. 'This is the girl I have told you about, Christina. Her name now is Raylana." Paul finally regards me with a firm gaze. I try not to squirm under his gaze but fail miserably. "Raylana." My name rolls smoothly off his tongue.
"My name is actually Christina," I say.
"I'm afraid we can't do that. You have to change your name," explains Akatsuki. I give him a confused look. "It's because so your real parents don't identify you before your sixteenth birthday."
"Rayla, then. Short for Raylana."
"That's appropriate."
"Hi," says the woman, holding out her hand. I hesitantly shake her hand. "Raylana, this is my wife, Matilda and my daughter, Isabelle." I shake everybody hands, still confused about why I have to know them.
"Raylana, this will be the family you will live with." Explains Akatsuki, clearing my confusion.
"Oh, ok. It's nice to meet you."
Mystery POV:
"Who is she?"
"She's the new assassin, Boss."
"The new assassin? How old is she?"
"She is eleven years old."
"She's young. We need to wait a couple more years. Get me her file."
"Yes, Boss." Footsteps leave the room and after a couple of minutes return. "Here's her file, Boss."
"Leave me." The minion leaves the room.
"Stay comfortable little Christina, because when you least expect it, we will pounce." His gaze pierces the picture of the little girl.
