The platform rumbled to a stop. The guards made way for us to pass which we did Star looked around and huddled closer to me not liking all of the eyes on her. The only sounds heard was the soft crackle of fire, clanking of armour and the thudding foot fall of us and our escort. The enchanted golden armour of the royal guard shone like the sun with an aura surrounding them due to the enchantments.
Ahead of us were two doors engraved with runes of power and protection guarded by two statues of past kings. There was a loud click and the rumbling and whirring of mechanisms as the doors opened. A female royal guard approached us and gave each of us a jade pendant with the royal symbol carved onto its surface. "Wear it, this is the only way you can enter through the barrier, also never lose
it. It is expansive to make and jade does not come by easily. The pendant serves to show your status in the castle and is also used to activate certain mechanisms or gain access to certain areas." She explained to us "Now come, his majesty awaits for your arrival heroes."
With that she stepped aside showing a hand towards the throne room for us to enter. I was only able to tell her gender from her voice and the shape of her breastplate which was shaped for a woman. I slipped the pendant on feeling it's cold surface slide across my skin as I tucked it under my shirt. I looked towards my friends and saw that the rest had done the same as I did.
"I would not recommend putting it under your clothing as it's harder to identify you when in the castle." The female royal guard told us gesturing to her own which could be seen above the armour. I nodded and pulled it out and the rest followed after me then we walked forwards as we got closer to the door a soft blue glow could be seen. As we got closer the glow got stronger until it eventually looked like a force field, our guard stayed behind at the entrance.
The female guard was now the one guarding us as we entered the castle. There was a slight resistance as we first came into contact with it before we passed through which felt like walking through a cooling wall of mist. There were banners of all the noble houses hung upon the pillars that lead to the throne. It was vast and empty as the royal guard was all outside, it seemed that the king wanted a private talk with us. At the end of the hallway surrounded by a moat was a throne elevated by riches and swords.
The moat to signify importance, swords for power and riches for wealth all fitting for a king to show to their subjects. I looked over to the lady guard who had a purple cape behind her with the kingdom's insignia on it. Her armour is certainly the most impressive looking out of all with runes and symbols etched into it. Her sword had an emerald embedded in the hilt her sheath had vines carved over it along the edges. It emitted a soft blue glow which was presumably a magic weapon, her guathlets had claws at the end of her fingertips.
Sprouting from her helmet were horns made out of gold curving towards the sky. Her footsteps were as silent as the wind, only her black eyes were visible through the slit on her helmet. Once before the drawbridge pass the miniature moat she took the lead and kneeled "They are here as you wished your highness"
"Excellent job Teardrop, now lets see the heroes whose our future depends on" said the king whose face was obscured by darkness each of his fingers had a ring upon them. A white shirt made from silk with a purple fur coat over his well built frame and despite being in the safety of the castle still wore light plated armour which his coat was worn over. He wore combat boots made of iron which had purple stripes over it and was covered in runes which were also purple.
