Chapter 39 - Chapter 1 [Hope Anew] (Page 33)

He leaned towards us the fire light shining over his face which boasted a strong build with a rigid jaw line. He had a beard which reached to his hairline and clear blue eyes like water. He went silent for a while as he scrutinised each of us from head to toe. It seemed as if Star was unsure if she was to keep standing or to kneel down as she tugged on my sleeve. I tugged upwards on hers as to tell her to keep standing until otherwise told to although I myself was unsure about the question.

No one dared to speak up regarding this as when Nimbus glanced over to Teardrop then back to the king he stood up and walked towards us. "At ease" he told Teardrop who stood up "So how was your journey here, enjoy the sight of my throne room?" He asked waiting for a response which was delayed by anxiety after a while it was NImbus who responded. "The journey here was pleasant and even more so was the sight of your majesty's throne and castle."

He nods at us looking over to Teardrop "See to it that they get their rooms and brief them about the schedule. The feeling must still be sinking in on the hero of the world thing don't worry, you have the day to get used to it. In each of your respective rooms there is a totem which will show you the map of the place. There are multiple of them throughout the castle to ensure no one gets lost. Off you go now and no pressure but training starts tomorrow good luck."

Teardrop nods "Follow me I will take you to your rooms, today will be all yours to explore and get a somewhat grasp of the castle." She signaled to the guards outside who came back inside to resume their positions. She then gave us a gesture to follow as she walked off towards one of the doors along the wall. We looked at each other before following after her as she pushed the door open and went inside waiting for us to follow up. Once we were all present she took the lead through the winding maze of corridors and halls. "Stay close even though I have been here for a long time there is still a tendency to get lost with how big this place is"

After hearing that Star immediately raced towards us from staring at the surroundings. "What do the totems look like and is it magical or mechanical perhaps both?" Star asked out of curiosity looking around. "Magical and you will know when you see them you can't miss it unless you're blind that is." Teardrop responded as she led the way, after a few more turns she stopped at a hallway with 5 doors on each side. "Here are your rooms feel free to choose whichever one you like the best, they are all the same other than the general design"

She stepped aside as we went forwards "The schedule is in a scroll on the desk, there is a dial which tells the current time in each room beside the bed. That's all, if you have any questions ask now otherwise you will need to find me." Shadow looked around at us reading our expressions "Nope all good, have a good day" he chirped as he took a look into a room. Teardrop nods and continues along the hallway as she does so she would remove her helmet and tuck it under an arm.

She walked towards the end of the hallway, turned to the left and vanished. The last thing to disappear was her purple cape which trailed behind her. Teardrop had glossy long hair which was hidden underneath her armour, the front locks of her hair reaching down to her shoulders.

I peered into a room which was larger then what we are used to although it was also filled with all sorts of furniture. The theme of the room was related to dreams with a light colour showing a landscape of clouds and floating platforms. I looked back seeing that the rest had already chosen their rooms so I stepped into the room, closing the door behind me. I took a seat on the soft couch and took my time to admire the room looking around. Above the door there was a magical board which told the time with blue numbers.

As Teardrop said there was a scroll on the desk which had a pile of papers and a feather pen which was most likely enchanted. On the center of the desk there laid a scroll with a wax seal over it boasting the kingdom's insignia. Towards the foot of the bed there was a couch to sit on and in front of that was a pedestal with what was assumed to be the totem.
