When I emerged from the portal, I found myself in a sort of infirmary. And the second I walked through the portal, I was swarmed by a bunch of kids. And I couldn't help but internally gush at how cute they were with their little animal ears and tails.
But the kids were quickly ushered out of the room, and Lana and I were nudged into beds where doctors checked out our wounds.
The doctor tried to heal me first, but I waved his hand, glowing with a dark green energy, away.
"Heal her first," I said pointing at Lana, who was laying on the bed on her belly, grimacing from pain as the effects of the aloe-like plant began to wear off. "Her wound is worse than mine, heal her first."
The dude, Doctor Keneleg his name was, gave me a funny look, but he walked over to Lana and put his hand over her wound, and I watched in fascination as the blisters faded, the muscle began to stitch itself back together, and the skin began to grow over the muscle. Lana sighed in relief as the pain likely completely disappeared. A nurse brought her a fresh tunic, and Lana slid the fabric over her newly healed skin.
Satisfied that Lana was healed, I allowed Doctor Keneleg to heal my arm. And I found myself sighing in relief as the pain faded and disappeared altogether.
Once my arm was healed, I stood up and walked up to the leader fox guy that retrieved us.
"I want answers." I said.
"And answers you will have my boy," the man said. "With time."
I growled in frustration, but I didn't push for answers. That guy knows something. I thought. I'll get answers, eventually.
"I have yet to properly introduce myself," the fox dude said."My name is Professor James Leon, but just call me Professor."
"Okay, Professor," I said. "Care to tell me where I am? And why those guys were trying to kill us?"
"You are in my Castle, what used to be Loretta University before the war," Professor Leon said. "Now it serves as the HQ for the Resistance."
"The Resistance?" I said. "Why do I feel like I'm in a Star Wars movie?"
"Star Wars?" Professor Leon said, cocking his head at me in confusion.
"It's nothing, just a story." I said quickly. "I'll explain it after I get my answers."
"Yes," The Professor said. "I'm willing to bet you are wondering how you ended up in our world, and how you are going to get home."
"Yes!" I said. "That's exactly what I want to know!"
Professor Leon nodded and gestured for me to follow him. I followed the man, and as he led me, he talked.
"I don't know how you got here my boy, but I do know why," he said, his voice full of charisma. "You were brought here because we need your help."
"Me?" I said. "What's so special about me?"
I looked and patted myself up and down.
"I'm just a normal high school kid, what can I do to help you?" I said, ridiculously confused.
Professor Leon pointed his cane at me(strangely enough, I literally just noticed the thing) and said,"Because you're human."
"Well no shit Sherlock," I said getting frustrated. "What can humans do that's so special that those guys have killed all of us?"
Professor Leon gave no sign of frustration, and waited for me to stop talking before he calmly said, "Bear with me child and I shall explain everything."
I crossed my arms as we reached a door, and Professor Leon put a key in and opened the door. I stepped inside and saw that it was a study of some sort.
"Have a seat," Professor L said, gesturing at some very floofy looking seats. "And I'll explain everything."
I sat down, and crossed my arms.
"Now," I said. "Talk."
