Chapter 4 - Answers(Some of them)

Professor Leon sat down and lit his pipe(Which he pulled out of thin air) and began the story.

"22 years ago, of the year 3233, humans and beastkind lived in harmony, as they had for over 3000 years. They lived in many nations, all under a form of democratic government. Peace reigned, and the world was a utopia, with crime, corruption, and unemployment at all time lows.

"But when a wolf-man by the name of Zachias rose to power in the small nation of Herendash, this peace began to crumble. Under the guidance of Dark Magic, he powered his soldiers, human and beast to such extreme levels that they were taking nation after nation with little effort. Many great cities and nations fell, and much blood was spilled."

Professor Leon looked at the floor with a sad expression.

"Many great leaders and scholars were executed.

"For many years, war raged as nations rose together to defend their people. But Dark Magic was so unbelievably powerful, and Zachias' army grew with every conquered nation as he released and recruited hardened and evil criminals from prisons.

"Then, on the year 3251, the kingdom of Hardish was on the front lines as the war came to their doorstep, and they rose to the challenge. Hardish was home to some of the oldest, wisest, and most powerful mages of all time. And for a while, hope shined as Zachias' army was pushed back.

"But it was unfortunate that when the king of Hardish died of a strange illness, hope died with him, as he was the world's wisest and most powerful mage at the time. Hardic soldiers were wiped out with little opposition without the King's guidance.

"And 2 years later, 3253, Zachias had conquered all the nations around the globe. He truly had achieved world domination. And then one day, a year to this day, a Scribe told him of the visions an Oracle had seen. They were visions of a human, rising up and striking him down, and ending his reign. And in his fear, he released The Death Order. And under this Order, any and all humans and half-bloods, male-female, old-young, anyone, was to be executed by any means possible.

"A massive hunt ensued, and in less then 3 weeks, all humans had perished. He even executed the loyal human soldiers and military leaders serving in his army. He killed his son and his wife, his wife human and his son half-blood."

I had my hand over my mouth in shock. "So, this man killed all the humans because of a vision he heard a rumor about?"

Professor Leon nodded. "In his fear, he killed all of them."

"Children, elders, even his own wife and kid?!" I exclaimed. "WHAT THE FUCK?!"

"Watch your profanity," Professor Leon said. "But I understand the reaction and emotion."

Professor Leon walked to a table and picked up a picture. It was him with another guy, this guy was human. He was white, and had a pair of glasses. Light brown hair and blue eyes. Pretty skinny, but you could see the intelligence and strength in his eyes even through the picture. Leon looked younger and they looked so happy together.

I noticed the ring on his finger.

"That was your husband wasn't it?" I said, realizing why this was so hard for him to tell.

Professor Leon nodded. "Adonis was the love of my life, and he was taken from me by the Order. He was a simple scholar, he taught at the University like me. And he was slaughtered as if he were a threat."

A tear ran down Leon's face and I sighed, swallowing my anger. "What do I have to do?"

Professor Leon gave me a confused look. "What do you mean my boy?"

"I mean, what do I have to do to put a stop to this guy. I obviously have to be the human the vision spoke of." I said, a determined feeling overtaking me.

"Don't you want to go home?" Leon said. "Isn't that your priority?"

I shook my head. "I was brought here for a reason. And I'm not leaving until that reason is fulfilled."

Professor Leon smiled. "Learning magic is an physically and mentally draining task. Are you sure you're ready to undertake it?"

I nodded. "I'm ready, when do we start?"

"We start today." A female voice said from the doorway.

I turned and saw the fox girl, Lana I think her name was. "And you better be ready, cause I'm not holding back."

I smiled. "Good, cause I don't want you to."
