Earlier in the morning Nathan finish his regular routine before heading out of his house. The office was busy today and it seems that many have started to become tense due to massive work being out on their shoulders.
He was no different and his work that was left on his desk for sure have started piling up.
What's more it been two days since he saw Katelyn and even their calls were short because she was a bit busy.
He felt like abandoned puppy left by his owner in the rain. He sighed and looked at the window in deep thought.
And once again the driver and Assistant Kai looked at their boss with a strange look. They even had stiff emotions but didn't say a word to the gloomy vibe behind them.
It was very rare to see him in a conflicting expression. He was even sighing a lot more making him look a bit sad to them.
What's exactly is wrong with the boss today?
Kai looked out the window and looked at the the traffic that was onto the move. He felt like these days his boss was getting stranger and stranger.
And it all started after having that date he had with Ms.Evertine.
They soon arrived at the huge building that was built to greater heights with the help of Nathan. Sky Tower Empire, like its name that building was tall and grand looking.
They got out the car and enter the building, many employees greeted them as they arrived but his boss only walked towards the elevator not minding them.
Nathan soon arrived at his office that was on the top floor. His other secretary Hanna also greeted them before he walked in and shut the door with Kai filling him inside.
"Schedule"
"You have two meetings one with Mr. Robin and the other with Mrs. Evertine. You also have a meeting with the Tech team for their up coming project.
Mr. Robin meeting is probably targeting our next project that we have with Mr. Knightly and Mr. Sanders. As for Mrs. Evertine, it seems she wants to talk to you for a personal reason. Do you want me to decline the second meeting?"
"Don't cancel it. Make sure to chose a good location for the meeting and make sure you book it around 5." It was most probably for the engagement they need to have.
Otherwise why would it be personal?
He sighed and went through the papers that appeared in his table and worked. His day was only going to get busier from now on.
He met with both the Tech team and then Mr. Robin who was interested in their plan.
It went smooth and Mr. Robin looked happy about his plans and agreed almost right away.
'He agreed even faster than before.' He mused.
After that meeting he went to back to have his break in the office. Kai had order a set long ago and was just waiting for him to arrive before he left to have lunch.
Nathan watched his retreating back and quickly pulled out his phone to look for a certain number dialling it.
"Hello?" A sweet voice said from the line.
"Katelyn it's me." He said.
Katelyn who was sewing the dress stop her work and put down the needles and fabric. She excitedly answered him through the line.
"Ah! Nathan! What are you doing now?"
"Lunch break and then I'll go through more work again."
"Busy day?" She softly asked.
"Ya, but after talking to you a feel much better. I really do miss you. We haven't meet for days, ah."
"I-I see glad I could help. We could meet soon if you want." She blushed feeling her face getting hot again.
"Katelyn do you want to meet up this week? How about tomorrow for dinner?" Nathan asked hesitantly.
"Of course I would love that!!" She almost squealed.
"Then I'll pick you up at your boutique."
"Of course. How was your day?"
They both talked for the whole lunch break things ranging from likes and dislikes in foods and also some things they adore. Nathan felt like his dead battery instantly recharged and he was back in business after his phone call with Katelyn.
His focus became better thinking about meeting with his future mother-in-law. He thought about a gift but then remembered that he should go together with Katelyn to get one since in his last life he told his assistant to send it.
Maybe it was better that he picked the gift himself too.
Time was doing it's job and soon the appointment time was around the corner.
Nathan walked towards the bookshelves in his office and pulled out a book. The shelf then moved to the side and soon a unnoticeable door with a key pad was displayed.
He quickly entered the code before walking in to change and look at himself in the mirror. Feeling satisfied by his looks he smiled.
'Time to enchant another person!'
Wasn't it written somewhere that a good son-in-law was golden? He wasn't striving for the best but always decent should be enough?
But something in his mind ticked. It was like he became a fool instantly and didn't even think about it before.
How come he never saw her mother before?
His eyes shook and tried to remember all the times he ask Katelyn about her mother.
'your mother... what about her?'
Katelyn became silent and didn't answer him and avoid his question with other words.
She never mentioned clearly about her mother since day one.
He even remembered that their was some fright in her mentioning her mother.
Her father on the other hand was in a coma almost 4 years ago due to an accident. He remembered that Katelyn was with him two but was found unconscious, while Mr.Evertine covered her body using his as a shield.
In the process he gotten very hurt and ended up in this state. But he remembered how much a great man he was from his father.
Howard Evertine was an amazing architecture and had made a great name for himself in the business he even helped with the building that he currently set foot on everyday.
Sky Tower Empire was a huge project and it was left to the hands of Howard and a few others.
It was a shame that he didn't wake up. Otherwise he would have even become more successful.
He shook his thoughts off and remembered that he had something more important to do.
Meeting his mysterious mother-in-law that he never saw until she reached out today.

He arrived at a private room in one of Matthews trusted restaurants. Nathan walked towards the room with Kai trialing behind him. Knocking polity he entered the room and saw a middle age woman who looked nothing like Katelyn sitting around the table.
He was shocked but quickly hid it with his indifferent look.
There was something wrong with this woman and he didn't know what.
"Your Mr. Kingston correct?"
"Yes that's right madam. Good afternoon Ms.Evertine." He greeted her politely and sat down across her.
They few minutes if silence was bothering him. This woman... more than anything he trusted his guts more.
"Let me ask you why you choose to propose to out family's daughter?"
Nathan paused for a second and looked at the tea cup that was placed in front of him. The warmth seeped into his hands.
He gave a small smile and Mrs.Evertine understood it as the love he had for her daughter.
"Our Stella is really fortunate to get engaged with you. I can't wait to see you guys together!!" She said excitedly.
Nathan froze hearing her statement and corrected her immediately.
"Mrs.Evertine I don't mean your other daughter. I mean Katelyn. Katelyn is the one I want to marry." He solemnly put out.
