Chapter 1 - The Land and the Ocean

Many many years ago, the Ocean ruled over the Earth. It wrapped around the globe like a blanket, covering the Land and lapping against the Sky. The Ocean held many creatures, plants, and animals, in the palm of its hand; nurturing many animals from childhood to adulthood and watching the plants under its care grow. The Ocean was peaceful and content. But one day, the Land grew jealous of the Ocean's rule over the Earth. The Land began to try and break the Ocean's hold over the Earth. Land began to make huge shields out of dirt and rock, creating the first continents. The Land also created swords of earth, striking the Ocean and carving the islands onto the Earth. Ocean, rising like a tsunami to meet the challenge, fought back with all of their might. The powerful hurricanes of the sea washed back over the continents that the Land made. The Ocean created arrows of water, making the first rains. Ocean's arrows struck Land, creating rivers and lakes. But it was not enough. One day, Land, almost overwhelmed by the Ocean, created a spear out of dirt and rock. Land threw the spear, piercing the surface of the Ocean. The spear became the first mountain. Soon, more spears of rock appeared, creating even more mountains. Land created even more continents, and the Ocean was quickly blotted out by the towering rock and dirt of the Land. Desperate, Ocean tried to take back what Land had stolen, but the Ocean was too weak. All Ocean could do was weakly strike against the Land, sometimes taking bits and pieces of rock. To this day, Ocean and Land are still fighting. This is why the waves continue to strike against the Land: Ocean is trying to take back what has been stolen from it.
