Once when the Earth was new, there lived a Lion and an Ant. The Lion was very proud and viewed the savannah as his kingdom. The Ant, however, was very humble and called nothing her own. The Lion would laugh at those who were weaker than him, refusing to associate himself with those he viewed as powerless, even leaving his pride because he thought they were feeble. The Ant, however, toiled endlessly to help others, serving her colony with all of her power. One day, when the Lion was out hunting, he came across a gazelle, ripe for the taking. The Lion quickly brought down the gazelle and was about to eat it when another lion appeared. The Lion roared and reared, showing his might. The other lion, however, not caring for shows of power, struck the lion with his claws. Soon, the Lion was struck down by his adversary. Suddenly weakened, the Lion cried out for help, but none came. Alone due to his pride, the Lion slowly died alone. On the same day, the Ant went out with some of the ants in her colony. They came across some meat, and they quickly began taking it back to their colony. However, a beetle soon came up and stole the meat, wounding the Ant and her compatriots. Unlike the Lion, the Ant's companions helped her back to the colony, where she recovered and saw the sun another day.
