Chapter 3 - The Sun and the Moon

When the Earth was created, and the world split between Land, Ocean, and Sky, the Sun and the Moon divided the stars, watching over Earth from space. The Moon originally was brighter than the Sun, giving brilliant light and warmth to the creatures on Earth. The Sun was dwarfed by the Moon, and the Moon grew prideful as a result of its incredible power. One day, the Moon bragged to the Sun, pridefully boasting that it could do anything. The Sun, sensing an opportunity to steal the Moon's glory, told the Moon that it couldn't possibly submerge itself in the Earth's oceans. Because of their immense pride, the Moon agreed to the bet, drifting closer to the Earth. It sunk into the deep Ocean, laughing because it had won the Sun's bet. But the Ocean soon put out the brilliant flames of the Moon. The Moon, dismayed, lost all of its power. After returning to space, the Moon was humiliated. It had won the contest but had lost all of its power, and with it, its pride. Now, the Moon only comes out at night, dimly reflecting the Sun's brightness as a husk of its former glory.
