"You'll graduate next month, Pacey?" The baritone voice of my dad shrouded the dining area.
"Yes, Dad." I firmly answered.
"And your rank?" Dad and Mom's attention is on me.
Here we go again, the pressuring part of being a Sangco.
"It's fine dad," he nodded at my answer.
They already know what I meant to say. Throughout my life, I've been pressured to excel. Being a Sangco here in the house is already a pressure, how much more in school. My family was known as an intelligent clan. One wrong move that could taint its title will be your worst life.
I have two siblings, Chacey is our eldest. An aspiring doctor just like our parents. She's on her 3rd year in med school now. Among the three of us, she's the most obedient. Whatever our parents told her to do—she would do it. She said she's lazy to decide for her self.
Dhaley, which is our youngest brother is fond of Mixed Martial Arts and video games. He would do better in school in exchange of getting what he wants for his hobbies. He has guts for making a deal to our parents about it. He's only in 2nd year in middle school yet he's cunning as he is right now.
I, on the other hand, a graduating student in middle school. I'm all ready for whatever course my parents would want me to take, that should be given. From kinder garten up until now, the school became my battle ground. If I didn't do better? I don't think I would be sitting here comfortably.
Although, I already thought a course that I would really love to take. I think I'd be inspired to study if they would agree to it.
"What about your course in college?" My mom asked. I looked at them both, they're sitting opposite to each other. I stopped eating, readying my self to explain my desired course.
"Actually mom, dad, about that. I want to go to med school too."
Mom seems to like my idea because she nodded and smiled a little. While Dad's attention is on me, waiting for me to tell more about my wants. He's observant, I know that. He knows that it doesn't end there.
"But..I want to be a psychiatrist." I said emphasizing the major course that I want.
Yes, I am one of those students that are being pressured by their parents but it did not discourage me to choose psychology as my course.
Some of the pressured children tend to be depressed at the end of the day. Usually, pressured people are the ones that are most vulnerable to depression. And there are many teenagers and even adults nowadays that are depressed because of the kind of life that they have to deal. That's why I would like to be a psychiatrist for the likes of them.
"Okay," dad answered firmly.
"Really?" I needed assurance because why not?
My parents are surgeon, as well as my sister. I did not think they would agree to it that easily!
"You don't like it?"
"No! That's a close deal, dad, mom!" I almost exclaimed out of gladness. I'm feeling a mixed of excitement and gladness. Excited to engage in the course I longed for a long time. And glad because my parents are okay about it.
I looked at my siblings, they really seems to not care when it comes to this things. They were eating like they didn't hear anything. Well, that became a norm between us—you shouldn't have a say on things you aren't involved.
After dinner I decided to go to the leisure room—it is where the three of us entertain ourselves. I know that my siblings are in there because it became our routine every now and then.
I opened the door to our hideout. It was placed in the middle of the garden. The outside was covered with thick ivy. It's nice to look at and it fits the atmosphere in the garden.
The inside of the leisure room is a mixed of color pink and blue. The wall and most of the things in the room is either in a pink or blue color. It's weird but we like it. The room was just like a simple living room, although it's our leisure room. There's an LED TV, speakers' beside the TV, and some other things that could be found in every household's living room.
Since this is our leisure room, all the things that we like are here. There's a nintendo and xbox for Dhaley, he's also crazy for that things.
He also got a little box ring in the other corner of the room—that's where he usually practice his MMA since he had Dad and Mom to buy him the things that he would need.
Ate Chacey on the other hand likes to travel. She collects memoirs from the places she had gone to. We put a classy open divider for her collections, from figurines to photographs.
It's all you could see once you enter the room since it's facing the entrance and it's attractive!
Me? I like reading books, although I like to travel too but I still can't do that since I'm still in middle school. That's why I did the thing that I thought would be the best choice for my hobby—I simply collects books.
I have a mini library corner here. All the books that I've read and will be read was placed there.
Books are partly the reason why I like to take Psychology course. Through reading I learned some words of wisdom and my knowledge about life broadened. It helps me think maturely.
There's no kitchen here but we decided to put a comfort room for convenience.
We're just here to relax anyway. Since being us is a pressure already.
As I entered I saw Dhaley playing on his Xbox and Ate Chacey is reading on some book. I sit on the sofa where Dhaley is.
"Don't you have classes tomorrow?" I asked as I watched him maneuver the controls expertly. It's seven pm in the evening yet he's playing again.
"It's the last round," he coldly said. Tsk, he's not really cold from the outside but you can feel it when he talks.
"I don't really get why you like that kind of games, I can't really understand even a bit of it."
He's playing a game that was like the usual game I always heard from my classmates—that League Of Legend thing. I can't really figure what's the difference between this game and that one. My classmates are addicted to it that's why I memorized the game name but that's just it, I only know the name but not the game.
I once tried it but then I was gasping for help. I don't know what should I do in the game that made me more uninterested. My mind wasn't set for that kind of games.
"Why would you want to take Psychology course? You can't even understand this simple game." He harshly answered. Okay, I take it back. He listened.
"I won't study that course to understand every games you have. It's to understand people!"
"It's a product of a person's mind. I guess it's somehow the same?" He confidently said.
"Whatever, don't go witty on me!" He chuckled though his voice is cold like you would think he's just faking it. That's sick!
"You two should sleep, you have classes tomorrow." Chacey said with finality.
She's reading a manual again. Being a surgeon really isn't easy. So many surgery procedures that you have to study to master it. Thanks to my self, I won't have to experience it.
Dhaley turned off the TV and Xbox when she said it. I stood up to go out of the room. We may be brat but we really take ate Chacey seriously.
Being respectful are one of the rules that we need to follow in this family. Dhaley's the only one who see me as a joke, really. We got out of the leisure room and entered the house.
"Night, Dhale." I said as I reached my room.
"Night." I sighed as I heard him answered. What do I expect? His voice is naturally cold.
Let's sleep, Pace. Another day is waiting for you ahead.
