Chapter 6 - S I X

What specifically did happen 7 months ago?

For starters, let's just say that some severe stuff went down between Jimin and his father. Just some normal personal family drama, right?

Normal.

Normal?

No, it was far from normal.

What sort of family dilemma would be considered normal if it affected Jimin to alter the way he behaved around the people he knows and cares about.

And this all came about because of a relative.

A relative who broke out from prison.

A relative who blackmailed their own son.

A relative who would expose Jimin to the internet in a matter of seconds about the unpleasant things he committed in the past if he didn't execute the tasks he was assigned to do.

Most of all, his father knew about his son's little childhood companion, which Jimin had so desperately tried to keep their friendship hidden from him.

It would be such a shame if he not only jeopardized his child, he might as well reveal to the whole world about her as well.

Unfortunately, Jimin absolutely had no idea about all of this.

Which was really bad for him.

Really, really bad.

Because as his popularity boosted throughout the years, his main priority was to protect (Y/N)'s identity from the public.

He knows how harmful people could be.

He knows how threatening some comments on the internet could become.

He would accuse himself till the day he dies if her identity got out.

After all, he doesn't know if she would be able to deal with all the hate made towards her.

But this all had to be crashing down on him because of some foolish things he did as a youngster. Stuff that not even his childhood friend or his mother knew about.

Only his father did.

This is depressing...

Very depressing.

It made him wonder that if he was never a kpop idol, would things have ended up differently?

-

How much time has passed since Jimin hung up the phone?

How many times had (Y/N) try to contact him again?

Brushing the strands of (H/C) hair off of her face, she positioned her phone against her ear for the 10th time. Just when she believed she was making some improvement, she had to express her emotions of sadness at him. Cursing under her breath, the grip on her phone tightened as the buzzes kept echoing.

"The person you're trying to contact is currently unavailable-"

"ARGGHHH-" She tossed the device across the bedroom at an abrupt speed, resulting in the phone hitting the concrete wall next to her wooden cabinet. The fragile cracks of glass from the screen could be heard as it fell to the ground. Clutching onto her blanket, she yanked it off her legs and hauled her body so that she was sitting at the edge of the mattress.

Another wave of insufferable pain rushed through her head again, making her surroundings blurry.

The amount of stress she was undergoing wasn't common at all.

As she was nearly about to reach towards the cylinder bottle which contained the pills, a ring emitted from her phone. Surprisingly, the device did not entirely shatter into pieces. She stood up, making the migraine disastrous than it already is.

"Fuck." She swore under her breath, the feeling of her legs were starting to give in. Her legs stumbled with every step she took, causing her to collapse. Her knees touched the floor first as she held herself up with her arms. The volume of her heartbeat chimed repetitively, draining out the sound of the ringing coming from her phone.

Her fingers gradually reached out towards the prescriptions but it was too late. Just as the tips of her fingers caressed the plastic, she lost consciousness, causing her to tumble to the side.

The rings came to a stop. The bedroom became silent. (Y/N)'s body laid still and helplessly on the polished wooden floor. There was no one nearby who could help her.

No one at all.

Missed call from Jungkookie...

Stretching her arms above her head, (Y/N) shut her eyes as she opened her mouth widely to give out a big yawn. It was the end of her exhausting day at work in the office. There was nothing interesting that happened (there never was, to begin with) but the pile of paperwork she needed to complete kept racking up. Pulling her arms back down to her sides, she searched for her phone inside her unorganized bag. Feeling the rectangular device, she pulled it out as a smile began to form on her face.

It has became a habit to call Jimin whenever she would get out of work. Of course, the man didn't mind at all. Even if his schedule was super busy, he would still make the effort to have a chat with her for at least a minute or two.

Dialing the celebrity's number, she held up her phone and placed it against her ear as she began to walk towards her (F/C) car.

"Hello?" The male from the other side of the phone answered, his voice was clearly groggy. He must've woken up.

"Hello, Jimin?" She said, unlocking her car as she opened the door and stepped inside the driver's seat. "Did I wake you up?"

"Hm?" He responded, yawning loudly.

"Looks like I did..." She murmured but more directly at herself. "Were you practicing with the guys?"

There was shuffling coming from his side of the phone, "Yea, we've practiced for so long. I genuinely don't think I could feel my legs."

She giggled as a thought came up to her head. "Did you visit your mother today?"

A loud gasp erupted from his mouth. "Oh shit, I promised her that I was going to be there! What time is it?" He asked, ruffling his hair as he yawned one last time.

She scoffed, he could clearly see the time on his phone. Glancing down at her wrist to take a peek of her digital watch, it read 9:00 PM.

"It's 9 PM." She answered, leaning back on her seat. "I think you overslept a bit."

"A bit?" He asked, cursing incoherent words under his breath. "I had so much free time! I could've gone and seen her..." His voice drifted off as a pout began to form on his lips. He hadn't seen his mother for a while because of the schedules his manager would assign to him every day. Usually, he would practice the newest choreography with the members, which would take up most of the day. Besides choreography, it would be reciting lyrics or to just sleep to gain back energy.

"You can't visit her right now?" She asked, looking out the window. The sight of the high buildings blocked her view of the stars in the distance. There were barely any stars in the sky, to begin with.

Jimin shook his head, "No, I can't leave the dorm, or else I'll get in trouble."

Her heart clenched at his words. The life of a kpop idol must he so hard for him. He couldn't even get out the dorm at a specific time.

"I'm sure the manager will understand if you tell him that you want to see your family. Just for one day."

"Are you sure about that, (Y/N)?" He asked, his eyes began to brighten up.

"Of course you idiot! I don't think he's that heartless. Ask him tomorrow about it." She exclaimed, pulling a few strands of hair behind her ear.

"You're right (Y/N)! I'll ask him tomorrow!" Jimin did his signature eye smile as he looked out the window. Aside from (Y/N), he got a pretty nice view of the buildings from the top. "You're the best!"

A deep red blush began to form on the surface of her cheeks, "I'll call you later, I'm going to drive home now."

"Awe okay! I'll talk to you later then!"

"See you soon!"

"Bye-bye!"

"Bye..."

-

(Y/N) twirled around on her chair, feeling bored at the current document she needed to complete by tonight. There was nothing fun to do in the office. It made her wish that she should've taken the photography class that was offered by her professor during college.

Sighing deeply for the nth time, she twirled around her chair once again.

"This isn't time to be fooling around Ms. (L/N)."

"AHHH!" She shrieked, almost falling off of her chair. Luckily, it was lunch break so there was barely anyone around who heard her scream.

She turned her head to glare at the man who was stifling himself from laughing.

"Subin!" She cried out, a pout displayed on her lips. "Don't scare me like that!"

He held onto his stomach as he shut his eyes to stop the tears of happiness from escaping. "Y-you should've seen your face!" He choked as he let out another fit of laughter.

The girl furrowed her eyebrows in anger, "Not funny!" She kicked his shin, causing him to stop his laughter as he yelled out in pain and fell down to the floor.

"Okay okay, I'm sorry." Rubbing his chin with his hand, he looked up at her in forgiveness.

"Okay get up, you're embarrassing me."

Following her orders, he stood up and smoothed out his pants. "You didn't have to kick me there (Y/N)!" He walked away, causing the girl to look at his back in confusion.

'Okay then...'

She thought, twirling around in her chair again. Suddenly a force of another chair seemed to collide with her.

"Hey!" She yelled out, "Did you just steal someone's chair?!"

Subin sat down on it, not minding the screams coming from his co-worker as he twirled around. "I'll give it back once the lunch break is over. It's not like they'll notice it."

She sighed in defeat and crossed her arms over her chest. Subin was the first person she had talked to when she was new at the office. As time has passed, he seems to always talk to her whenever he got the chance to. Even if she was feeling annoyed at his presence. "Why are you in my cubicle anyways?"

Subin stopped twirling and placed his thumb under his chin in thought. "Why did I come here?" He asked himself. The girl deadpanned at him.

"How did you forget-"

"Oh!" He snapped his fingers, causing her to stop speaking. "Now I remember."

"Then what is it?" She inquired, feeling a bit curious at what this goofball was going to say.

"Have you seen the news today during the morning?" He asked.

"I don't really watch the news..." She replied back, going back to the process of twirling around on her chair. Subin followed her movements, both of them just twirled around in silence for a couple of moments. If someone were to walk pass them, they would've think that the both of them are crazy.

"Well," Subin began, "Apparently this guy escaped from prison. Pretty cool right?"

The girl stopped moving and deadpanned at the man again. "You're weird." Simply ignoring the question.

He brushed off her comment and continued, "From what I heard, he's some kind of gang or mafia leader. I wouldn't want little Ms. (Y/N) to run into him."

She cringed at his words, "Thanks for being concerned but I don't think he would be around this area in Seoul." Subin stopped twirling as well and looked at his co-worker in the eye in seriousness. She widened her eyes in shock, she's never seen this office clown look like this.

"You're probably right but there's still a possibility this escapee is wandering around this part of the city. What if he kidnaps you!" A chill went through Subin's spine at the thought of (Y/N) screaming for help.

She placed a hand on his shoulder, causing the man to look at her. "Don't worry so much about it. Also, why would he even kidnap me?" She questioned, tilting her head to the side in confusion. To be honest, what Subin said made her feel a bit frightened. There hasn't been that much bad news lately so this was a first.

"You don't know?" He asked in shock, making the girl even more confused.

"You're pretty, beautiful, kind, nice-"

"Oh my god stop you're making me cringe. You got me all scared for nothing!"

-

Walking out of the building, (Y/N) couldn't help but think back to the conversation she had with Subin. She quickly walked towards her car, feeling panicky at the empty sidewalks. She had guessed that people must've heard the news because she hadn't seen a single person on the streets at all.

Making herself comfortable on the driver's seat, she pulled out her phone from her bag and dialed Jimin's number.

"Hello?"

"Hey Jimin! How-"

"I'm sorry, I can't talk right now. I'm busy."

She felt her heart drop. "O-oh, then I'll talk to you-"

He hung up.

'Weird...'

(Y/N) thought, placing her phone down and inserting the key into the car. Driving away from the parking lot, she headed towards her house. The empty streets made her feel more anxious.

'Jimin isn't usually like that.'

She stopped at the traffic light when it turned red.

'Is there something wrong?'

Waiting for the light to turn green, she turned her head to look out of the window to examine the area but saw a figure dressed in black walking towards a shady looking alleyway. Furrowing her eyebrows in curiosity, she pressed her face more against the glass to inspect where the guy must've gone to but then the light turned from red to green. Muttering under her breath, she began to drive again.

Oblivious that the person was watching her from the corner of his eye.

Upon arriving at her house, she took off her shoes and plopped herself down on the couch. Dialing her friend's number again, she pressed the button to let it be on speaker.

"The number you've called-"

Pressing the end call button, she sighed out in worry. Jimin would never do this to her. It was probably the first time she called him while he was this busy. Was he even busy though? She wanted to tell him if he had visited his mother today but it seems that she can't.

He had turned off his phone.

In her last resort, she decided to dial the maknae of the group, Jungkook. In less than a second, the youngest picked up the phone.

"Hey (Y/N)! I haven't heard from you for a while."

She laughed at how enthusiastic he was. "Hey, Jungkookie! How have you been?"

"I've been doing fine but these days have been pretty hectic. I can't even rest for an hour or two!" The youngest complained as he followed with a sigh. (Y/N) nodded her head, even though he couldn't see it.

"I see, being an idol must be rough."

"You sure bet it is! But I love having this career, meetings fans, and creating music is what I live for."

A soft smile plastered on her face as he continued to ramble on about his occupation. Before he could finish what he was saying, she interrupted him by asking him a question.

"Jungkook, have you seen Jimin? Is he in the dorms?"

Jungkook rubbed his chin as he thought about his older friend. Snapping his fingers, he remembered what Jimin had told him. "Jimin told me that he was going to go visit his mother today but he hasn't come back yet."

Giving out a sigh, she replied back saying, "Thanks for telling me, Jimin seemed a bit off while I was talking to him on the phone but I'm glad he got to visit his mother."

Lifting his eyebrow in confusion, the youngest responded. "Really? Jimin looked very happy before he left."

"Do you think something happened at his mother's house?"

"I'm not sure but don't worry about it. He'll be fine."

"Right..."
