The friends never acknowledged how distant they have become.
Sure, they do walk to school and back home together but it would usually be an awkward silence. They still ate lunch together but never uttered a word.
Just a simple hello or goodbye was all they said to each other.
One day (Y/N) managed to see her friend dancing by himself while she was passing by one of the empty classrooms at the school. She guessed that he had left to go home since she had after school club duties to attend to but she never expected to see his presence still at school. She knew about his passion for dancing since he's mentioned it so much but never gotten the chance to see it in real life.
His flexibility and the way his body moved so smoothly to the beat was so unbelievable. Everything was so beautiful that she never realized she had been gawking at him for minutes.
She also didn't know that somebody had sneaked up behind her.
"Boo."
"AHHH!!!"
That was her first interaction with the weird, handsome, beautiful, goofball...
Kim Taehyung.
Ever since that day, Kim Taehyung became part of their tiny group. He was able to make Jimin and (Y/N) go back to talking to each other normally again and he was a very fun person to hang out with.
Although at first, Jimin had a rough time getting comfortable around the other male. It wasn't that he was intimidated by him, it was just that since he and (Y/N) were always together most of the time, it was weird seeing another person be with them. After many awkward conversations and moments, they found out that they had many things in common.
Even though Taehyung would make occasional jokes about Jimin's height, they were still very close friends. They talked about many random things about movies they watched, songs that they liked, and they even talked about the music industry.
The more she conversed with Taehyung, the more she found herself taking interest in him.
In the perspective of her classmate's eyes, Kim Taehyung was the class clown. He was also one of the popular kids at school because of his looks. However, he's never shown his real self to them. He was actually pretty quiet and quite shy at times.
That's what (Y/N) adored about him.
No matter how times she tried to deny and push her feelings away... it was no use.
She had a hard crush on him.
She loved his personality, his looks, his box smile, everything. Unfortunately, she was too blinded by her love for Taehyung that she didn't acknowledge how her childhood friend felt about it.
One word that would describe how Jimin felt was jealousy.
Only jealousy.
He was jealous that Taehyung was going to take her away from him.
However, deep down inside he was scared of losing his best friend.
-
Beads of sweat trickled down Jimin's face as he intensely stared at his reflection on the mirror. Ever since (Y/N) had woken up, he began to pick up dancing again. His moves were a little sloppy due to how long he hadn't been practicing but eventually, he began to pick up the pace again. It has been a week since he had last seen her but he has heard from the hospital that she was resting well.
Unfortunately, his flexibility wasn't that great like it was in the past. He could still do the splits but if he bent his body more, it would begin hurt a lot.
His arms and legs gracefully extended out as he proceeded to follow it up with sharp moves. His breathing became irregular but he still continued to dance.
He needed to get better.
As the song came to an end, he stood quietly in the middle of the practice space. It was dark but a couple of lights were turned on. He liked that kind of atmosphere around him, it was also kind of depressing too.
He stood alone looking at his reflection once again.
The more he looked at his pathetic face, the more he began to hate himself. He's an adult, why was he still obeying his father's orders? Luckily, the old bastard hasn't contacted him for a while but he knew that eventually, something will pop up again.
As peaceful silence was about to envelop the room, slow loud claps could be heard from the distance.
"Wow, I thought I'd never see your face here again."
He could recognize that deep tone of voice from anywhere. His facial expression immediately twisted into a scowl as he quickly turned his head around to face the person causing the disturbance.
"What are you doing here Taehyung?"
The older male proceeded to examine Taehyung's appearance. His fashion sense has changed drastically over the years. Back at highschool, Taehyung usually didn't care about what he wore but now, all he sees is Gucci, Gucci, Gucci, and more branded clothing. There was some clothing of his that is cheap but Taehyung would usually wear something more expensive.
He had also surprisingly become more mature now.
"I should ask you the same thing." The younger male retorted as he slipped his black coat off his shoulders onto the polished black floor. There change in dance practice rooms have improved over the years. It became bigger and bigger but that also meant larger performances.
"I'm just practicing, it's none of your business."
Taehyung crossed his arms over his chest as he stared at Jimin restarting the music again.
"You haven't come to practice with us for a long time, why are you suddenly doing it here alone?"
Jimin however dismissed his question since he was more concentrated on his dancing. Taehyung had practiced the song with the members together but he felt genuinely surprised at how Jimin quickly picked up the moves.
The way his body gracefully moved to the music and his outstanding footwork sent his jaw hanging open in amazement.
Hoseok would be impressed.
At that moment, he felt himself reminisce of his past back to when he first saw Jimin dancing alone inside a vacant classroom.
During that day, he was wandering through the empty hallway while listening to some music until his attention shifted to her. The vision of a young girl peeking her head through the wooden door came up to his mind. He felt his heart begin to throb just thinking about the three of them together.
They used to be so close...
Now they don't even say a single word to each other...
If Jimin never changed, would the three of them hang out normally again?
'I miss her...'
Taehyung has heard about the news of (Y/N) from Jungkook. When he first heard about her being at the hospital, he was furious. The anger that was bundled up deep inside of him instantly exploded. Jimin was the reason he made her like that and Taehyung wouldn't want him to get away with it. Even if he is her best friend, he needed to teach Jimin a lesson.
After 2 weeks, Jungkook came back to him with good news about her condition. He felt so happy yet, he also felt awful. Due to his busy schedule, he has never gotten the chance to visit her. If only he wasn't this occupied in the first place, he would've been by her side every single day.
"You know... the way you're dancing right now reminded me of when I found you passed out inside one of the classrooms back at school."
Jimin was about to do a jump but hearing that from his friend made him come to a halt. His breathing was still irregular and his heartbeat pace was beating rapidly.
"Drink water, it looks like you're about to pass out in any second."
A scoff erupted from Jimin's lips as he began to chug down the tasteless liquid.
"Why would you suddenly say that?"
The man responded while wiping away the excess water from his face.
"I was just saying my thoughts, no need to get angry at me."
Jimin creased his eyebrows as he threw the bottle onto the floor. He knew exactly what Taehyung was referring to and he didn't want to hear anything related to that matter.
The past is in the past.
"When you woke up, didn't you tell me that it had to do with something about (Y/N)?"
A small glint of light reflected off of his eyes as he took a step forward.
"You never took a break in between your practices, you just kept pushing your body to its limits until it decided to shut down on you."
He positioned his hand on top of Jimin's shoulder as he looked down at the male. "Didn't you say that the reason you kept doing this unhealthy thing was that you were jealous of someone?"
"Get your fucking hand off of me."
Venom laced through Jimin's words as he swatted Taehyung's hand away.
"Who were you jealous of back in high school?"
Jimin still kept his glare but stood in complete silence. How the hell was he supposed to answer that? The answer to that question is the person literally standing in front of him. With a small sigh, he looked away and turned his body around so that he wouldn't see the reaction on Taehyung's face.
"It's all in the past anyway. Why do I have to tell you?"
"Exactly, it's all in the past. It shouldn't matter now, so tell me. Who were you jealous of?"
"Kim Taehyung-"
"Were you jealous of me?"
A small smirk formed onto Taehyung's mouth as he went back to pick up his coat. He did want to rehearse their newest choreography to get better at it but after seeing Jimin dancing by himself, he didn't feel like it anymore.
"So you were jealous of me."
Taehyung mumbled as he slipped his arms into the sleeves of the coat. The other male in the room just stood still in shock. He didn't feel tired anymore and most of all, he wasn't in the mood to dance anymore.
'How did he know!?'
Jimin thought to himself as he watched Taehyung walk towards the exit.
"I wanted to keep this a secret from you..." Taehyung responded it was as if he knew exactly what Jimin was thinking about. The way his face expressed so much shock and disbelief felt amusing to him.
Back when they still attended school, he wanted to figure out who this mysterious person Jimin was jealous of. However, he did notice that when he was chatting alongside (Y/N), Jimin would always look irritated or he would try to interrupt the conversation.
Taehyung was quite observant of Jimin for many reasons. He felt envious of Jimin's talent for dancing so he would always watch him carefully. He was also with him whenever the bullies we're around.
"I've known about it since we were back in high school."
"Then why did you ask me that question?" The idol asked as he crouched down to pick up his bottle.
Taehyung however ignored it and continued, "You know, I didn't want you to feel more jealous than you were back then, so I did something without you knowing it."
He gripped onto the handle of the door and swung it open.
"(Y/N) and I used to date each other. It's all in the past anyway... See you later." However, as he said that, there was a bit of sadness behind his words. He truly did care about (Y/N) but their relationship wasn't going to work out, as much he wanted to.
'I should be the one jealous at you...'
The door closed right before Jimin came back into reality.
'Taehyung and (Y/N) used to date? Since when? Why haven't they told me?'
He sat down on the floor, feeling betrayed by his close friends. (Y/N) wouldn't do this to him, she always told him everything. He knew that she had a thing for Taehyung but dating?
He wasn't in the mood to dance anymore. The thought of drinking a nice cool beer seemed like a better option than being cooped up by his thoughts.

Taehyung walked down the sidewalk as a familiar building came into view. In a few more minutes, he'll be able to face his friend again. Or what some would call it, his ex.
Standing in front of the hospital, a cold breeze flew by him, making him tuck in his coat closer to him. This was going to be the first time in a long time since he'll see (Y/N) in person again. After debuting as an idol with Jimin and the other guys, they didn't have the time to meet up and hang out as they did in the past. (Y/N) has also gotten a job as well so she's hardly had time to be with them.
Pulling his mask more to cover his face, he entered the hospital and strolled over to the receptionist's desk.
"How many I help you?" She asked as she looked away from her computer.
"I want to visit (Y/N) (L/N)."
Placing her fingers to her chin, she scanned her computer to look for the patient.
"Are you a relative? Friend?" She asked while clicking through some files.
"A friend. I've known her for quite some time." The idol responded as he began to impatiently tap his foot. Even though there weren't that many people around, he still needed to be careful to not let his identity out.
"Ah, I see... there appears to be someone there already. Do you want me to give them a call?" Her hand reached out towards the phone but Taehyung immediately cut her off.
"No thanks, what room is she in?"
"Room 613."
Giving the receptionist's a nod, he began to walk towards the elevator. As he stepped inside the small space, he felt the pace of his heartbeats suddenly boost. He did feel pretty nervous but he wasn't going to back down now.
With sweaty hands, he pushed the button which leads up to (Y/N)'s floor. Feeling the tug of the elevator rise up, it did remind him of something similar that happened back when he was younger. Back in his debut days, the company filled a video of the members each alone inside an elevator. It was a fun video to look back at and it made a smile appear on his lips.
The elevator doors opened up, causing him to snap out of his thoughts. Reading every number above each door, he finally found the one which he was looking for.
613.
Slightly jogging towards it, he placed his hand on the handle and was about to turn it until the voice of (Y/N) caught him off guard.
"How's Jimin been doing? Is he okay?"
"I haven't talked to him in a while but I believe he's fine."
'Jungkook? What's he doing here?'
He pushed his ear more against the door as he decided to eavesdrop on their conversation. Although it was a bad idea in the first place, he wanted to listen as to what (Y/N) was saying about Jimin.
"I hope he is... days ago there were large bruises everywhere on his face! I just hope he isn't doing anything stupid... it makes me worry about him more."
"It's okay (Y/N). The bruises are probably healed already."
She hesitated. "You're right... but I care about him so much..."
Taehyung couldn't handle it anymore. Instead of entering the room, he decided to leave after all the effort he had put in himself to visit her. It was also his one time chance of seeing her since it was his free time. The feeling of his heart throbbing caught him off guard.
Why was he feeling this way? Their relationship didn't even last that long so why did his heart suddenly hurt? Was it because she was talking about another man?
The male clenched his hand into a fist as he slowly continued to get as far away from the room as possible.
Their relationship back in high school was like all typical highschool romance stories. They held hands, they hugged each other, and they even kissed. However, both of them did that in secret.
(Y/N) basically didn't want their relationship to be public while Taehyung wanted to brag to everyone about it. Thinking about it, it was immature of him to have such a thought.
At first, Taehyung didn't understand why but as time passed, he finally comprehended why she said that. She didn't want Jimin to be left out. She didn't want him to feel like a third wheel in between her and Taehyung.
Most importantly she was scared of how Jimin might feel. Of course, he respected her request but they were a couple now. Isn't that how relationships work?
During school, he would always watch her from the distance. He admired everything about her, from her face to her clothing. In his eyes, she looked adorable in general. There were times when he would try to sneak a hug or a kiss but she would only accept it when her best friend wasn't around.
Time passed by and Taehyung noticed something about her that made it dreadful for him to even realize. There was a matter of time before their relationship would come to an end and he wanted to end things immediately.
Before both of them could get seriously hurt.
On March 1st, their 3rd year of high school, Taehyung broke up with her.
Although it was painful for him to move on, he did it for her happiness.
During their relationship, he noticed something in her that changed and even she doesn't know about. He thought that she would eventually figure it out sooner or later but she never did. Many years later, it appears that she still hasn't figured it out.
She was beginning to fall in love with another guy.
How can Taehyung be the only one who knows about this? Ever since high school, he's known about it!
How come she didn't realize it after they broke up? She must've felt something for him during high school.
Why did it have to be him?
Letting out a shaky sigh, he walked away from the hospital. She had already moved on from him.
Taehyung however didn't.
