Chapter 19 - The Teasing

Chapter 19

ALEXA ROHAN

I was outside the packhouse beholding the beauty of the moon above me.

Normally, it appears full to the eyes for three nights but there's precisely defined instant when it's totally opposite the sun and that's when every werewolf feels invincible and indestructible.

The newly shifted werewolves during these times needed to be watched as most cannot control the surge of power coursing through their very being.

It is during this time also that every pack would go for a run.

Looking at the packhouse, it's more lively than ordinary nights. In an hour, we'll run as one guided by the moonlight that we all so love.

'hehe'

I inhaled and took in everything the moon could offer me. I have always been drawn to it. Well, every werewolf does but specifically for me, I find solace gazing at it.

It warms me.

Then time eluded me. I was dazzled with the moon's bewitching beauty that a nudge from Carmen pulled me out in my daze.

"Moon to Alexa."

A smile flashed on my face seeing how mischievous she appeared.

"What is it now Carmen?" I sounded grumpy but my creeping smile blew it away.

'duh'

My bestfriend has been pestering me about my romantic life which I learned to brush off with a smile, a scowl or a frown.

Ever since Lou came, Carmen has become a nagger, a loud one.

"I see that you are slowly giving in Ali."

"When will you wholly give yourself to Louchie?"

'ugh'

Her teasing tone amplified as it was the full moon and I found it more irritating than usual too. So, I rolled her my eyes and gazed up back to the moon above.

'tsk'

"What's stopping you Ali?"

"We now know that she's not the mate who will weigh you down."

I shook my head in contrast, "Too early to say that Carmen."

She chuckled, "Didn't you say you feel stronger just sitting by her side?"

'ugh'

There you go— Carmen's insisting tone at it's finest.

Well, for these past days that I have loosen up a bit for Lou, I found out that she'll be the death of me in the long run.

I am even starting to question if it's only the mate pull or it's already the real deal.

'tsk'

Just by sitting beside her, just being with her, I feel like I'm invincible and secured. I hate to admit that her presence calms me too.

'yeah'

And besides that mate pull I'm so stubborn about there's something else too. She gives off a warm vibrance and a soothing feeling that I don't understand.

It's kind of weird actually.

It's similar to the feeling of being affiliated in a pack for the first time but a little different too.

I just don't know what it is and I don't know if it's just me or the others around her find it the same.

But then, in the matter at hand, I still chose to be a hard bull infront of Carmen. I don't want to admit my tangled feelings to her — yet.

So I let out a frustrated groan before taking a side glance at my bestfriend who I can't hide a thing from.

'oh'

'shoot'

Another groan escaped my throat seeing the way her brows arched. She seemed to read my mind, "Oh come on Ali, don't blame it on the mate pull again."

"You defended Lou from Kareem."

"You had the choice to do that or not when the mate pull triggered but you chose to step up for her Ali."

"You stepped up for her!"

"You had the freaking choice and you still did that!"

"So stop being so difficult already."

'ugh'

'such a nagger'

"I'm not being difficult Carmen. I'm just not into girls," I reasoned.

She huffed and pointed her finger at me, "Don't give me that lousy excuse Ali."

"It won't work on me."

"It's not like you've never slept with women."

'wow'

Right, can't hide that from her.

'tsk'

[*************]

I sat in the kitchen counter nibbling the food Sylvia has prepared for me.

Sylvia, she's the head chef of the pack and she's the best.

I even paid no mind to the other werewolves coming to and fro in the kitchen as I savor the taste of the food in my palate.

A meaningful smile curved up at Sylvia's lips when Lou sat beside me.

'ugh'

My mate seemed to get along well with everybody in the pack not to mention with the other packs at school. Well, I just notice that.

"What are you doing?" I asked grumpily when I felt Lou's stares sticking like a glue on my skin.

"I'm staring at the most beautiful piece of art there is."

'shit'

I cursed myself inside denying all the blabbering of Carmen about butterflies and giddy feelings which I'm feeling at the very moment, that I had to chew the inside of my cheek to suppress the smile that's trying to expose me.

"It's rude to stare Louchie."

'gosh'

I managed to utter those words despite almost clenching my jaw.

"Then I'd rather be rude than bypass the chance I get to behold you."

'shit'

Goosebumps were visible by then that there's no way I could hide them.

"Louchie—," I gave her a sharp glare and a cold tone.

"... could you move away a little?"

"I can't breath."

'ugh'

I held my forehead as soon as I realized what I said. I regretted the words the instant they come out of my mouth.

And my mate— her face lit up the moment she heard the words and she flashed me a teasing smile.

"You did not take my breath away so stop assuming."

"I'm saying you're just too close," I clarified but I knew it's of no use.

"This distance is no big deal baby," Lou pointed the gap between us.

"You already licked me in the face."

"Could we be more closer than that?"

"Sex Louchie—" Carmen spoke from behind.

The idea brought all the blood to go up my cheeks that I'm sure they were akin to a ripened tomato.

"Right— " Lou acknowledged, dragging her voice along then grinned like an idiot and thanked Carmen with a wink.

'wow'

'really now'

"Oh, we already slept together," she added in a nonchalant tone, pointing me as she address that to Carmen.

'wait'

"What?"

My ears fumed in heat and the gasp of a few werewolves around did not escape unheard by me. The most dramatic one is of course, Carmen.

"We did no such thing," I hissed glaring at Lou.

"We did— and you threw me out the window the next morning."

I could really pick a few dropped jaws from the shocked werewolves around.

"But we did nothing, we just slept— together," I clarified but still seemed off to me.

"I did not say we did something though," my mate pouted.

"I just said we slept together."

'ugh'

I groaned in defeat and shifted my gaze away from her. I can't take anymore of her stares that sparkles with mischief that moment and there's from Carmen too.

'ugh'

I would love to punch them both.

'really'

'ugh'
