Chapter 23 - You Are Falling

Chapter 23

ALEXA ROHAN

"How was your little date last night Ali?"Carmen asked in a teasing tone, nudging me on the shoulder when she got to my side.

I was on my way to my next class.

If only I could pluck her brows as how annoying those thin line danced playfully above her eyes, I already did.

'tsk'

"What date?" I played dumb even knowing exactly what she meant.

"Hello, you were gone with Lou far too long last night Alexa."

"And?"

"Oh my Goddess— " there it was, her dramatic gasp.

"Have you mated?"

I stopped on my tracks and stared at her in a boring way.

"We did no such thing Carmen."

"Well, who knows she was your knight in shining armor there, defending you from the insane wolf. Then you rolled over down the cliff, you fell, you kissed, got heated, got naked and mated—"

"Ouch!" There, I whacked her on the head.

"You watched too much drama Carmen," I sneered then resumed my pace.

"Also, didn't I tell you that we had trespassed another land?"

"So nothing happened?"

"Nothing," I assured and that slowed her stride making her fall behind.

And when I sensed that she had stopped walking, I turned with lifted brow and she just stared at me, unfazed.

"Fine Ali, nothing happened but surely something has changed," she mind linked.

'change'

"What changed?"

In a moment, a cold wave ran through me seeing the way she smiled; a genuine one. And her eyes, her eyes said it all that all my built up walls of denials went down crumbling.

"You are falling."

viLelouch's POV

Sweating, a guy was curled up in a ball, trembling with all his being down on the ground. A group of four individuals circling him. They were laughing in his suffering— laughing with glee.

Truthfully, none of those four delivered even a punch yet but the guy was already on that state.

It was like the act, the scene made his body to respond that way. A behavior only seen in those individuals with a distressing, a disturbing experience or suffering from a continuous violence; a trauma.

The laughter of mockery died out when a pebble stone came rolling in.

Their attention drifted to where the stone came from and there was Lou, smiling and looking young, dumb and well, not broke.

'ooppss'

"Sorry about that."

"I was shooting a bird on that tree," she pointed at a random tree nearby. Of course, who would buy that?

"Well, look who's here," said the big guy, the one that emitted more power than the others.

"Isn't this the famous mate of the heiress of the Rohan?"

"Didn't know I'm that famous."

"What are you doing here?" The big guy growled.

"I just told you, the bird," Lou shrugged and pointed again on the tree.

"You know what new girl—" another guy butted in. He has a calming vibe, smart and dangerous.

"There are places in the school premises that you are free to roam around and there are those that you shouldn't."

"Unfortunately, this place is a shouldn't," a treat wrapped around those words.

"Oh," the big guy snapped his fingers, sharpening his gaze at Lou. "Are you trying to play the hero here?"

"Saving this damsel in distress?" A kick landed on the curled up guy, a whimper was heard and laughters resonated.

"Oh no, do continue," Lou denied.

"I just accidentally lost my way here trying to catch that bird."

The four gave her a silent response along with an intimidating stare; totally not buying her excuse.

"Well, go on guys," Lou encouraged.

"I can even grab a popcorn and watch how the strong bully the weak."

[**************]

Sitting on a hospital bed, Lou never left her gaze away from the woman who was busy doing her job in the infirmary.

"You are boring holes on me, Rivers," the doctor said with her back on Louchie.

"Forgive me, Doctor. I can't seem to stop my eyes from running all over you."

"Oh," the doctor turned elegantly and faced Louchie. "Smooth, aren't you?"

Lou just responded a smile.

Walking back to Lou's bed with a basin, disinfectants, cotton and some handy equipments, the doctor begun the treatment.

With bruises around her left eye, on the cheek, a deep cut on the brow and not that much on the lips, Lou winced in pain as the pack doctor damped the cotton and did the stitching.

"Can I go here everyday?"

"Nope, unless you are this beat up."

"Guess, I'll have to get beaten up everyday then."

The doctor sighed, "Coming from someone who has found her mate."

"Why not? I am much appreciative of all the wonders and beauties of the world— and definitely you are one, Doctor."

The doctor put down the equipment in her hand, her eyes narrowed in a thin line and she bit the inside of her cheek forcing away the smile that was threatening to break.

'ahuhuhu'

"Will yo stop hitting on me Rivers?"

"I'm afraid, I'll have my body patched up like a mummy with all the broken bones I'll suffer from the wrath of Alexa Rohan."

'ooopss'

"Is my mate that scary?" Lou whispered.

"Pretty much."

'hahaha'
