MALLORY'S POINT OF VIEW
"Oh my god! I'm finally here again!" I exclaimed as I jumped on the couch that occupied the living room of The Teenager.
"It still gives off the home-y aura that I love the most" I said, snuggling one of the pillows on the couch.
"Wanna watch a movie before we sleep?" Abbeigh asked as she placed her coat on the rack, opening her CD drawer.
"Yeah! You still have that CD?" I asked as I walked to her side, looking in the drawer.
"Oh wow, now that's what I'd call organized" I chuckled.
All of the CDs were organized by the year they were released, by the letter the title started, and of the genre it classified.
I was about to pick a CD out from the drawer when a separated box picked my interest. "What's this?" I asked as I pulled it out of the drawer.
I opened the box and saw tapes inside that, you guessed it, was organized, but by the date and was labelled.
"Oh, those are the tapes that you and I recorded together, some of them are the ones that Mom and Dad took" Abbeigh explained.
If you're asking why I was always with Abbeigh's family, it was because they're friends with my family.
My parents were always overseas, even now, so I was left in the hands of Abbeigh and her Mom and Dad.
I met Abbeigh when I was in 3rd grade, when her parents invited mine to a Welcoming House party that was just in the next neighbourhood.
I would always be left with a nanny, that I wasn't really fond of, so when my Mom saw how Abbeigh and I became friends so easily, they thought, why not just let me be with Abbeigh.
And ever since then, I was closer to Abbeigh's parents than mine. Don't get me wrong, I love my parents, but I wasn't as close to them as I was with Abbeigh's.
But then Abbeigh's parents passed away 2 years ago, when we were in our third year in college.
They were running a company, but gave it to my Mom since Abbeigh's mom was the CEO of the company.
"Let's watch this one!" I said as I pulled out a tape that labelled '06-07-02 Abbeigh's 9th Birthday'.
"I'll go get the popcorn, you can watch that ahead of me" Abbeigh smiled as she tapped my shoulder, pointing to the kitchen.
"Sure!" I exclaimed as I put the tape in the player and sat on the couch, hugging the same pillow from earlier.
'Happy Birthday, Abbeigh~ Happy Birthday, Abbeigh~ Happy Birthday, Happy Birthday~ Happy Birthday Abbeigh~'
I smiled at the screen as little Abbeigh sat on the table with a big smile on her face, me standing by her side as I sang along with all the other guests.
Abbeigh's mother placed the cake down in front of Abbeigh saying, 'Make a wish, Darling'
Abbeigh closed her eyes with her fingers intertwined with each other, making her wish.
I could feel tears form under my eyes, smiling at the TV screen. That was the first time I celebrated Abbeigh's birthday.
It was one month before her biological parents' death. Yes, Abbeigh was an orphan and she was taken in by my Mother's friends because they lost their daughter a few months before they adopted Abbeigh.
"Popcorn's read---" Abbeigh cut herself from her sentence when she saw a tear trail down my cheek.
"What's wrong?" She asked as she handed me my popcorn after I wiped the tears from my eyes.
"Nothing, I just saw Aunt Jean and Uncle Airam in one of the tapes" I laughed as I ate the popcorn she handed me.
"Oh... yeah, that's fine, we both grew under their roof anyways" Abbeigh smiled as she sat down beside me and we watched the rest of the tape together.
This feeling never gets old. Me and Abbeigh reminiscing the past by the tapes that we recorded while we ate popcorn at night.
