Chapter 9 - Chapter 9

ABBEIGH'S POINT OF VIEW

"Mallory~" I cooed, brushing my fingers on her cheek to wake her up.

Mallory groaned as she slowly fluttered her eyes open, squinting at me. I could feel myself smile at her cuteness.

Mallory fully adjusted her eyes and tried to pull a smile for my sake.

"Good morning" I sang, standing up from the bed, she was lying in. "I have a present for you" I smiled as she slowly sat up on the bed.

"Present?" She asked, her morning voice groggy.

I nodded to her with a bright smile on my face, clapping and jumping around in excitement.

"Yeah! It's downstairs!" I exclaimed as I ran to her and helped her up to walk.

Mallory groaned as she stood. Maybe her knees weren't healed yet.

I let her walk at a pace that she was comfortable with and carefully helped her downstairs, clutching on to her tightly for full support.

I let Mallory sit and wait on the couch as I got her present for her. I pulled it out of the kitchen and pushed it to the living room with a smile.

"It's a wheelchair!" I exclaimed, grabbing Mallory's attention.

She went wide eyed and covered her mouth as she looked at it in confusion. "Do you not like it?" I asked, feeling down.

Mallory glared at me and slammed her fist on the couch, making me jump back. "How much of a psychopath are you?! You break my knees, then you buy me a wheelchair?! The hell's the matter with you?!" She yelled at me, her face red with anger.

I blinked at her and a smirk crept up to my face as my brows knitted together that made her anger turn into fear.

"What do you mean?" I growled, walking up to her, keeping my face the way it is. "I'm doing you a favour and you ignore it?" I continued, pulling her head back by her hair as it slammed on the window pane behind her.

"How can you not be thankful? You should be since I'm one those psychos that do you good" I said, piercing holes on her face.

I could feel Mallory tremble under me as I tightened my grip on her hair. She bit her lip, drawing out blood, trying to keep her voice in.

"I'm sorry..." Mallory whispered, her voice cracking.

I tilted my head to the side and looked at her in confusion. "What?" I asked, not averting my eyes, keeping my hand in her hair.

"I'm sorry, I do like your gift" She managed to choke out that replaced my scrunched up face into a smile.

"Good!" I said as I let her hair go and went back to push the wheelchair over to her.

"Wanna give it a go?" I asked, leaning on the handles, resting my chin on the back of my hand as I looked at her in anticipation.

Mallory smiled at me with tears in her eyes as she nodded. She really likes my present that much?

I picked her up from the couch and settled her down in the wheelchair. I opened the door and pushed the wheelchair out of the house, locking the door behind me.

Mallory looked around worried and tensed in her seat. I placed a hand on her shoulder that made her flinch and look at me.

I gave her a reassuring smile before saying, "Don't worry, I already told them not to"

Mallory nodded and sighed, she still looked worried and tensed, but, compared to earlier, she was more relaxed now.

I continued to push the wheelchair as we passed by the houses of our neighbours.

Some of them were already up and was getting ready for their daily run. Most of them looked at us with sharp eyes while some waved at us with a smile on their face.

As we arrived at the lake that we used to fish at, I put Mallory's wheelchair to a stop.

"The lake..." I heard Mallory say as she stared at the lake. "What are we doing here?" She asked, not taking her eyes off the lake.

"Wanna go fishing?" I offered.
