ABBEIGH'S POINT OF VIEW
As I cooked the fish that I caught earlier, I felt something in my pocket vibrate. Being the curious cat that I am, I pulled whatever it is out of my pocket.
It was Mallory's phone. "Huh, I forgot I had this here" I scoffed while the caller ID displayed, 'Miss Clean-a-holic'.
I clicked my tongue at the ID. 'Miss Clean-a-holic? That's some nickname' I thought to myself as I answered the call and put the phone over my ear.
"MALLORY!!!!!" A Female's voice cried that made me flinch and pull the phone away from my ear.
I didn't need a speaker for this since the volume of the Female's voice compared to that of a megaphone.
"WHERE ARE YOU?! YOU HAVEN'T COME HOME YET!!" The Female continued to scream, as I heard sniffling on the other line.
"ARE YOU WITH MYSTERY NUMBER GIRL?! WHY AREN'T YOU TEXTING ME?!" She continued.
I gave out a long sigh before speaking up. "Hello?"
There was a pause on the other line before she started yelling again.
"WHO ARE YOU?! WHY DO YOU HAVE MALLORY'S PHONE?!" She yelled, her crying from earlier turning to anger.
"I'm Abbeigh, and Mallory is watching TV" I said as I sautéed the garlic and onion in the pan with oil.
"ABBEIGH?! THE MYSTERY NUMBER GIRL?!" She kept yelling. "Uh... yeah... That's what she calls me?" I answered, confused, placing the flour coated fish in the pan.
"OH DEAR LORD! I THOUGHT SHE WAS IN DANGER!" She continued. I swear to god, if she doesn't stop yelling, I'm gonna fry this phone in the pan.
"How is she? Do you know why she won't come home, yet?" She asked in a more normal and calm tone.
I paused for a second, looking at Mallory by the couch. "Uh... yeah, she said that she wanna stay here with me for a while" I said, flipping the fish over to let the other side cook.
"Is that so?" She paused. "Tell her that I'll be cleaning her house till she comes back" The Female said.
"Yeah, sure" I nodded, taking the now cooked fish and placing it on two separate plates.
"Okay, thanks!" She said before hanging up.
I glared at the phone for a bit before storing it back in my pocket. I scooped some rice on the plate and walked over to Mallory, handing it to her.
"Thanks" Mallory smiled, picking up the spoon and fork from the table before settling her plate on her lap.
As I was about to take a spoonful of my food, when the house phone rang, grabbing my full attention.
I settled the plate down on the table in front of the couch and ran to the phone, picking it up, I placed it on my ear, listening to whoever was calling.
"I lost a hostage" They breathed out. It was a kidnapper who called.
I clicked my tongue and slammed the phone back, heading to the door.
"What happened?" Mallory asked as I opened the exit to the house. I looked at her with sharp eyes to which she jumped back from.
"Stay here if you don't want to be the next one to be hunted down" I growled, leaving her in the house.
The moment I got out, the neighbourhood was as quiet as a ghost town. They were all probably somewhere looking for that hostage.
In this neighbourhood, if you lose a hostage or somewhat, the person or people who finds them gets a reward, it depends on what they give you or you can demand something from them.
Standing from where I was, I saw someone limping from a small distance. It was the hostage.
I smirked to myself and hid wherever was near her. You have to take a turn that passes my house to get to the entrance. Miss that turn and you'll be lead deeper into the neighbourhood.
She stopped in the middle of the road, looking at both directions and thinking whether to go right or left. But, lucky her, she went right.
I ran from behind the houses and took a sharp left, jumping to her from up front.
We stumbled and rolled to the ground as I stopped the both of us by grabbing her shirt and stretching my legs out, letting me sit above her abdomen.
"Hello~" I greeted the Female below me.
