Chereads / Munsters Meets Addams / Chapter 7 - Lionel Barker

Chapter 7 - Lionel Barker

Lionel Barker drove from 1313 Mockingbird Lane all the way back to his house. He let Adrian out of the car and the two walked inside. They hung their hats and coats on the coat rack and went into the basement which was half finished, and the other half was basically a storage unit. Lionel placed his hands on the pool table and sighed in frustration.

"Why couldn't you have just gone in and went through with the plan to lure Mrs. Addams to me?!" Lionel exclaimed banging his fist on the pool table making Adrian jump.

"For the last time, there was a DRAGON in the house!!" Adrian exclaimed. Lionel threw the pool stick and balls off the pool table and grabbed Adrian by his collard shirt.

"I don't care if Vincent Price's 'House of Wax' in there! You need to do as your boss tells you no matter what?! What part of that you don't understand you incompetent fool?!" Lionel exclaimed.

"What part of there was a dragon in the house do YOU not understand?!" Adrian exclaimed. Lionel pushes Adrian away.

"Just go!" Lionel barked. "GO!"

Adrian sprinted up the basement stairs and slammed the door shut. He slid down and panted from running all the way up the stair, hoping Lionel wouldn't come back up the stairs angry. He's seen Lionel angry before and it wasn't pretty when he was angry.

"What am I doing with my life?" Adrian thought. "For all I know I could have a wife or children and here I am with this despicable person."

Adrian often questioned his life choices on a daily basis. He didn't know Lionel would be this evil when he took him in just two years ago. He remember that day like it was yesterday....

~

Adrian was walking alone in the rain. He had just lost his girlfriend because she cheated on him for a supposedly better man, and to make matters worse he had no home, because his job had been shut down, so employees had been let go. What he considered his home now was under the Crispy Cream donut roof. Normally the employees there wouldn't allow loitering, but those people were kind souls. They understood why Adrian had to sleep under the roof and every morning, and a nice employee named Emily would bring him two free donuts for breakfast with a warm cup of coffee just the way he liked it every day. He didn't get to eat much at the time, so he could definitely use the carbs.

It was evening and Adrian didn't know what time it was, so he went to sleep. He never knew how many hours he got of sleep each night. As he was about to fall asleep a car pulled up to the sidewalk. A man kneeled down by Adrian's face and woke him up.

"Sir, are you alright?" A man asked.

"As alright as a homeless man can be." Adrian said.

"My name is Lionel. Lionel Barker." Lionel asked. "What's your name?"

"Adrian." Adrian answered. "Adrian answered.

"I think you'd better come home with me." Lionel said. "I could certainly use someone like you."

"You couldn't use someone like me." Adrian said.

"On contraire, I can." Lionel said.

"How?" Adrian asked.

"Well, I could us an assistant." Lionel said, extending his hand for Adrian to take. Reluctantly, Adrian took Lionel's hand and Lionel led him to his car. Off they drove to his house. In spite of Lionel having a lot of money, his house was average. He didn't think it was necessary to have all that space for one person. They walked through the front door and up the stairs and into the guest room. Lionel lent Adrian a pair of his pajamas and told Adrian to shower in the bathroom. Adrian instantly climbed into bed when he was finished. He was so tired from walking around all the time.

"Good night Adrian." Lionel said. "Sleep well."

Thunder clashed as Morticia and Gomez lay peacefully asleep in the guest room of the Munster's house. Morticia smiled at the sound of this. An Addams loves thunder a lightening. To Morticia, this was the perfect vacation. Making new friends, and the whole family together, with a thunderstorm to make it better than what it already was. She was half asleep, and she turned over on Gomez's side and locked her hand in his. She smiled as she slowly began to doze off....

~dream~

Morticia was back home in her knitting chair knitting a black dress for Wednesday on those cold winter days. Even an Addams needed to keep warm. She made sure the neckline was just right, and the waist wasn't too tight and no thread was loose or would come apart. Morticia rose up from her chair and walked upstairs to her and Gomez's room and held the dress up in the mirror.

"For once, I didn't mess up the neckline." Morticia thought, proud of herself. She set the dress on her and Gomez's bed and headed downstairs because she knew Lurch would be serving dinner any minute. She opened the door and in walked her old friend Lionel Barker with Wednesday in his arms. His large hand covering her six-year-old mouth. She was screaming and struggling but no matter what she did she couldn't break free.

"Lionel! You let my baby go!" Morticia exclaimed, ready to claw at him with her sharp feminine fingernails.

"Not unless you come with me and be mine...." Lionel threatened.

"No!" Morticia exclaimed. "I love Gomez and Gomez alone! He is my life! My love! My everything! He's better than you in so many ways and every good thing no other gentleman in this world is!"

"Then I suppose I'll just have to take your daughter." Lionel said.

"Wait!" Morticia said, beginning to cry. "Let her go....I'll be your wife, just don't hurt my little girl!"

"Ahh, that's better." Lionel smirked as he pushed Wednesday to the ground. Wednesday grunted. Morticia ran over and wrapped her arms securely around her daughter.

"Mommy, please don't go." Wednesday begged crying.

"It's the only way mommy can protect you." Morticia said, stroking crippling Wednesday's tear stained face and stroking her cheek with her thumbs.

"Will you be back?" Wednesday asked.

"I don't think so." Morticia said trying not to cry for the sake of her daughter, but failing.

Lionel grabbed Morticia and Morticia struggled. She screamed and kicked until Lionel threw her to the ground and knocked her out.

~End of Nightmare~

Morticia felt Gomez gently shaking her. She struggled and struggled until Gomez held her in his arms. Morticia panted.

"Querida." Gomez whispered in Morticia's ear as he rocked her back and forth.

"Lionels going to take Wednesday!" Morticia exclaimed. "He took her in my dream and he'll end up taking her in real life! I just know it!"

"Twas only an unpleasant kind of nightmare...."Gomez whispered soothingly as he stroked Morticia's silky jet black hair, and rocked her back and forth. Morticia cried and cried.

"Gomez, I must go check in Wednesday." Morticia exclaimed.

"Querida-" Gomez said.

"I won't hear of it!" Morticia said. "I'm checking on my little girl!" Morticia rushed to the guest room Wednesday and Pugsley are sleeping in to see Wednesday sleeping with her Marie Antionette doll curled up with her. Morticia sighed in relief as a huge weight lifted off her shoulders. She walked over to Wednesday and affectionately strokes her hair and rubbed her hand along her arm. Morticia kissed Wednesday's temple and stayed close to her ear.

"Wednesday, listen very carefully." Morticia whispered. "No one, is going to hurt you. Do you understand? No one. If they do, I will fight like an Addams, and for once, there will be bloodshed." Morticia once again kissed Wednesday on her forehead.  "I love you my darling." Morticia whispered. There was a freak on the floor. Morticia turned around to see Gomez standing in the doorway, willing her to come back to bed.

"Oh, Gomez-" Morticia whispered. Gomez wrapped an arm around his beloved wife.

"Tish, it was just an unpleasant nightmare. Your safe and Wednesday is safe." Gomez said. Morticia looked back to see Wednesday and Pugsley sleeping in their beds. Gomez kissed his wife tenderly on the forehead and led her back to their guest room.
