"Oh, you're one of those," Artemis lost interest in the Wendy stranger since she was one of the people who wanted her to remain hidden in the forest. "I would say it was nice to meet you but then I would be lying. Come on Alexander, we're done here."
Wendy stepped forward placing her hands behind her back and asked, "Do you mind if I tag along? It's been a long time since I've been in the presence of a God like yourself and I am curious to know why you have a human warrior by your side. Are you turning over a new leaf when it comes to humans?"
"Of course not and I don't need anyone following me home. Stranger danger. One annoying person around me is already enough. Have a good day and leave us alone before I send you to the underworld too. I am in a good mood to send the devil many more guests." Artemis wasn't certain what was up with this woman who claimed to know about Gods but she was certain she didn't want her coming back with her and Alexander.
"Why don't you see if she knows why you're connected to the forest?" Alexander whispered to Artemis. The woman knew right away from seeing Artemis that she was a Goddess. She might be human but there was something mysterious about her.
"Fine. Do you know why I am pulled back to the forest whenever I try to leave?" Artemis asked.
"Ask Alexander. When someone tries running away from their punishment the obvious thing to do is to bring them back to complete their sentence. Maybe I am getting too old but isn't that how things have been done for years?" Wendy looked to Alexander for confirmation. Why would anyone want a Goddess like Artemis running free considering what she did in the past?
"You want me to keep paying for something which occurred thousands of years ago and I wasn't the one that technically did it. Blame my past life for that nonsense. If any of you had common sense you would have realized that I would have left everyone alone had they released me from whatever force is in the forest. I would have left the humans alone but thanks to the wise decision to keep me there, I had a lot of time to think about who I want to take my revenge on."
"Forget about revenge and just serve your time. You'll find more peace in yourself that way. You have caused enough damage to humans already whether it be you standing in front of me or your past life. You have caused the elders to be very upset with you. Be obedient and show them that you have changed," Wendy tried to reason with Artemis. She fought for peace amongst humans and other creatures. People like Artemis and the king ruined the growing peace.
Artemis's shoulders shook from her laughter because of Wendy's words. The woman spoke as if she could convince Artemis to take her advice. "It always cracks me up to hear things like that. How much more obedient do I have to be when I spend year after year all alone in a forest waiting for a response from anyone to help me. Those elders you spoke of are sitting back watching the humans slaughter many of their own. Do not talk to me about being obedient or I will kill you with my bare hands. Come along, Alexander," she stormed off in the direction she came from.
"She's so violent. It's a good thing she cannot hurt humans," Wendy was glad something was done to keep the Goddess away from others when she had so much anger built up inside.
"That has been proven to be wrong. She can hurt humans. She just killed a few of them before coming here. I must take my leave before she becomes even more upset with us." Artemis had ordered him to come along with her and he could already feel the bracelet working its magic. He started to leave but Wendy grabbed hold of his arm stopping him from leaving.
Wendy knew for a fact that no Gods were able to hurt humans after the law was made by the elders. No one had the power for the law to not work on them. "What do you mean she hurt humans? No God can do no such thing."
"She killed them actually. Sent them down to the underworld."
"That's not possible," Wendy muttered trying to figure out how Artemis would be able to hurt a human. There were no reasonable explanations unless this man was lying to her but he had no reason to. "Are you sure? Did you see this with your own eyes?"
"Yes. She burned them alive and then got rid of the bodies. Sorry but I must…" Alexander trailed off when Wendy brushed past him in the direction Artemis had gone. He sighed as this could only mean trouble. He followed after Wendy as she followed behind Artemis.
"Wait there one moment Artemis. Did you kill someone?" Wendy questioned out loud. A little too loud for Artemis's liking.
"Why are you following me and broadcasting my business? Go back to wherever you came from and leave us alone. I told you to come along, Alexander. Why were you back there talking to some stranger? Don't you remember what happened the last time you were getting all buddy-buddy with a stranger? This happened," she motioned between the two of them. She didn't like this Wendy person and Alexander shouldn't be so friendly with her.
"Did you kill a human? Answer my question?" Wendy needed the goddess herself to confirm it.
"I did. Now, will all of you stop assuming that I can't?" Artemis replied, annoyed with the question.
