Chereads / When The Goddess Fell In Love / Chapter 56 - Chapter 56

Chapter 56 - Chapter 56

"They have always been too greedy and must have hated the humans following all Gods instead of just the three of them. Thank you for opening my eyes to what has always been in front of me. Unfortunately, a follower of the elders who are willing to try and kill me is my enemy. I hope they save your soul when I am done," Artemis wanted to send her soul down to the underworld just like she did with the thieves. She was prepared to set Wendy on fire but like the hero he always was, Alexander stepped in.

"Don't," Alexander stopped her. They have already made her out to be evil, she didn't have to prove it to them. Everyone she didn't like did not have to die. They could leave here and ignore this woman. Now that he knew Artemis was alone much longer than he thought, he felt bad for her. To be alone with no interaction must have taken a toll on her.

The added information that her elders must've sent the weapons down for the humans to kill the Gods just for them to be the remaining Gods would upset him too if he was in Artemis's position. He couldn't blame her for being so angry with everyone for a crime that her past life did.

"Stop trying to be the hero Alexander. If I don't get rid of her, she'll keep on following us. I don't want to hear her anymore. Why is it always about protecting humans and those like me being evil? I am tired of this repeating story. I am going to kill her."

"Do not become the person they are portraying you to be. Let's agree that you had nothing to do with what your past life did. I have been with you for a short period of time but I know you are not evil. Don't kill her and prove their point. Just walk away," Alexander advised her. This was close to the same advice he had to give to Darius but the man never listened to him. Artemis was just as stubborn as the king.

"You can't reason with a Goddess like her-"

"Fine but she isn't going with us," Artemis's eyes glowed for a few seconds, and then out of nowhere, ropes appeared out of nowhere tying themselves around Wendy. "Stop following us." Just this once she would listen to Alexander and walk away from someone she wanted to kill.

"She'll be the downfall of this world if we continue to let her roam free. You have to kill her and make her reincarnate. You swore to protect the people of this kingdom or have you forgotten Alexander?" Out of all people, Wendy wouldn't have expected someone so close to the king to be protecting Artemis. Granted, she wanted the king to die also since he was harming his own kind but right now, Artemis was the bigger threat.

"I haven't forgotten what I swore to do and I have not stopped doing it. Never once when taking the oath did I state I would specifically protect humans. I swore to protect anyone innocent in need of help-"

"She is not innocent! She has killed almost an army of humans in her past life. Artemis still has time to pay for what she has done and should be grateful that they had not killed her. Those artifacts were sent to kill her specifically. The perfect punishment would be for the humans to have an equal ability to kill her. She is not a God who needs to be protected!" Wendy had helped hide many Gods from humans and took humans to see those Gods as they did in the old days.

She knew Artemis could not be saved because of the evil brewing inside of her and the hate she had for humans.

"I am making my judgment based on what I have seen from her so far. Yes, she kidnapped me and placed this thing on my arm. Yes, she killed those thieves, and yes she wanted to kill you but it's all because she was left alone for many years that she is so angry."

Artemis squinted her eyes not seeing the reason for him adding all the negative things. Still, she was a little delighted that he was coming to her defense. She expected him to switch up on her because he was looking out for the best interests of humans first. She believed he would only come to her defense like this until he learned more of what her past life did to make her be punished for this long.

Alexander continued to say, "Do you have any idea what that could do to a person? Why didn't anyone think to at least check on her even if you thought she was evil? We have a routine in the palace to check up on our prisoners. I believe there are innocent humans in this world just like there are innocent Gods and other creatures."

"She has brainwashed you," Wendy failed to believe someone like Alexander would come to the defense of Artemis when he had helped hunt those who weren't human. "Fine," she decided to end this topic for now. She decided to kill two birds with one stone by visiting the king and informing him of what his general was up to. If she plotted this right, she could get rid of the king and Artemis.
