"Stay soft"
Sebastian looked up to Poll with surprise adorning his features. He couldn't believe what she was saying.
"What ? What's gotten into you !"
"I am not sure what kind of feelings you have for her but June doesn't want to see you"
"I have a hard time believing you, let me talk to her"
Sebastian got up but Poll stood in front of him, "like I said even if she wanted to wake up she won't be able to do that" she pushed him back so that there was some distance between them.
"Do you honestly think that June is in love with you ? That she stayed with you just because of love ? Fool. She got you in love with her just so you would give her the land and the firm's papers in the end and you blindly gave in"
Poll smirked as she saw the clear pain in Sebastian eyes.
"What ?"
"What you've heard"
Sebastian felt the world around him stop. His whole body felt numb. When he thought he finally was in love, that he found someone, he realized that once again it was for what he had and not what he was.
Sebastian felt a sharp pain in his chest. He wanted to feel nothing at the moment...nothing at all.
He should've never gave in to her. Her young but tired eyes. Her soft voice. Her charm. He shouldn't have done that at all. But he did. And it hurt him.
Why did she do that ? Did he deserve any of this ? He did everything to have her and still it wasn't enough. What else could a man give ?
He wasn't enough.
Sebastian walked himself to the door.
Poll watched him leave and hopefully out of their life forever. This love caused nothing but pain to both of them. There are stories that are just bound to have sad endings and sometimes we can't help but watch.
She watched the cityscape become clearer in front of her as the night set in. She walked to her room ignoring the soft sobs that were coming from June's room.
It will be gone soon, my dear.
He drank his pain away. No matter how much he tried to keep his eyes dry he wasn't able to.
His eyes were red and puffy. He didn't like it but for some reason he couldn't stop the tears from falling down.
"Why did you do that to me, June? Why did you hurt me like that ? Do you have any idea about how much it hurts ?"
At the moment he hated June's guts.
He grabbed the glass of whisky too hard it shattered in his hand. Sebastian bit the inside of his cheek as he felt the blood drip down his desk. The alcohol only made it worse.
He held his hand as the pain got unbearable. "Fuck !"
"Be more careful the next time, please Mr. McClain. How hard did you grab it that it shattered ? You could've easily damaged an artery"
Sebastian let out a deep sigh, "Just do your work"
The doctor wrapped the wound with care after finishing the final cleaning.
Sebastian threw his head back . He needed to sleep badly.
"I'll see you in two weeks and Melinda please take care that the other hand stays safe"
Melinda, the housekeeper, nodded as Sebastian threw a look of disapproval at his doctor.
"I'm going to bed, Melinda, please make sure sure that everything is cleaned"
"Yes sir."
