Chapter 9 - My Letters

Daydreaming about our last encounter was something, but this was something else.

"Did you read the letters?" I asked quietly, and he was suddenly quite. The atmosphere had turned very awkward as I was still standing in my spot.

"I was just looking I didn't -"

"Can you read braille?" I asked once again, and he sighs silently.

"No, I can't I was curious about what you were writing, I think it was something else, I didn't realise it was that important to you."

"It is..." I said it was crucial because if he did read it or did know how to read it would be over for me. It was a letter to him, the anxiety was building up after our encounter that day in the committee room, and I couldn't help to overthink so I did what I do best. I write.

My whole body tense as no words would come out from the person, and it was dead silent, it was also not helping that we were in the back of the library. No one is here, and I don't, I can just run away without embarrassing myself more.

As the silent grew my anxiety was building up as I snapped myself out of the trance and held onto the papers tighter as I try to find my bag, I heard the chairs scrapping, and I felt someone holding onto my hands handing my purse in my hands.

"I'm sorry, if it makes you feel better, I can't read braille, that's really a special talent for you to be able to write. I wanted to see how someone like you write it looks interesting despite not understanding," After hearing that, my shoulder slump and I let out a sigh, the breath I was holding for a solid minute because anxiety was almost taking over me. I took a deep breath and out.

"Are you alright? Do you need a minute?" He asked, suddenly appearing closer, and I step back in surprise as I felt him brush my hands. But I blocked him out as I focus on my breathing. After a silent 42 second, I was alright, and my breathing was stable. I thought that he had left when he suddenly held my hands, handing me to some bottle.

"I didn't think you'll have a panic attack like that, here drink first and then you can sit and do you want help in sitting?" he asked politely as waited for me, I thank him for the bottle, and he opens the lid, and I drank from the bottle.

"It's alright I just need a moment, I'm sorry if I scared you for a moment," I said as I search for the chair and sat down and I slump further into the chair as I heard the chair scrapping in front of me, indicating he was sitting in front of me, well I hope he did.

"No! I should be the one sorry, I shouldn't have done it without asking permission," he said, and I nod. We bot sat in silence as I took the chance to search for my homework if he doesn't read braille he might try to take a picture of it. My mind started to overthink about the possibility of him reading the letter, reading the love letter for him.

My mind started to go blank at the thought of him reading it.

"How did you manage to get over the panic attack?" He asked sudden ask snapping me out of my blank space.

"It's not a panic attack, I just start to worry too much that I forgot how to breathe, literally," I said, and he smiles, the smile Anaya never got to see.

He remembered the first day he had seen Anaya, he was going to class when he saw a girl was struggling with her books as she was trying to open the door.

He was not in the mood to argue because of the night before so that day he was in the mood to discuss and all he wanted to sleep throughout all the lesson but after seeing Anaya, he was wondering why no one was helping the poor girl.

He didn't know that the girl was actually blind and was struggling because the door keeps closing in, and her books might fall if she doesn't hold it properly. So he initiatively took the books from her hands as he heard a gasp and he gently pushes her inside the room. After she turns her back, she bows, and she stretches her arms out for his hands. He handed her the book after hearing a small thank you from her.

The class erupted in murmurs as their eyes had to look their way to both of them. It was bothering him to know that everyone was staring, and to top that he didn't know why. After the girl scurries in her seat, he went to sit in 2 rows behind her.

The staring didn't stop as he sat down beside one of his best friend, Daniel Knight.

"Nicholas you're late," he said as he said it sarcastically and I roll my eyes at him as he nudges me.

"Please stop, you're turning in like those people he likes to go with," I groan as I opened my back searching for my phone and my eyebrows furrow, he took it.

"What's up with you and Anaya Moore?" he asked suddenly, and I look away from the bag, turning my attention to him over the unfamiliar name.

"Who?"

Daniel's eyes widen as he hit me in the back," You idiot, you decided to help some stranger without even knowing them." I flinch as he hit me yet again, and I glare my eyes at him.

"isn't that what strangers mean?" I sarcastically ask," besides who is who?"

"The girl that you help," he said, and I quirk my eyebrows, and I sigh.

"Oh, nothing is going on between us, and why are you so nosy I'm being a civil human being by helping out, I can't believe you just stand there while she struggles her way."

"You wouldn't be saying that if you know her condition," He murmurs as I averted back to him.

I stare at the girl as she talks with her friends, they giggle about something.

"I don't think I see the problem here. seems fine with me." I said.

"Dude, have you been living under a rock? I'm disappointed in you," he pointed at her," Her name is Anaya Moore, and she has a condition, she's blind."
