Chapter 10 - Friends

"So?"

Daniel starts talking as the confused man looks at Anaya with curiosity, She was living a perfect human-like nothing is going in her life, just because she had a disability doesn't make her any different from the society.

He would even say that she was a unique human being and a solid one to be living in this kind of world, she's able to survive with a smile latch on her face as she was surrounded by the people who love her.

Something he had wished Anaya could be an eye-opener for someone.

He was daydreaming about her as he looks at Anaya with curiosity, someone might even say he might have an interest for her if they didn't know him, he was interested.

He was interested in her. He was snap out of his daydream when he heard his best friend said something.

"Dude, you're helping a liability if you help her every time then she's going to start lifting her burdens to you,' he scoffs," I bet her friends thinks she's a burden for sure, but they are good people who take a pity if I were them I'd -"

As Daniel was about to finish his sentence, his chair suddenly jerked back as Daniel saw his friend glaring at him.

"I dare you to finish that sentence, and you'll have the whole campus would know your little fiasco." He had threatened, and Daniel's eyes widen.

The bell rang, and he went out as fast as possible.

For someone who has a bad reputation he sure talks a lot, he tsked at his friends, he wonders how he had ever be-friend that guy, and he could only think about the same person he likes to blame for the friends he had now.

How could someone had a small-minded mind in this world, he must be a joke and a hazard to societies. He should be educated more, hell everyone who had gossiped about Anaya should be educated more.

He looks at her now as she trembles in her feet in fear as she thought he might have read the letters, well he did.

For starters he understood braille, but he was also a man with a bit respect despite understanding the braille letter she had written he didn't want to know to acknowledge the message, it was personal for her, so he didn't know what's inside.

He would have confessed he could read them, but her panicking and all it was best if he didn't tell anyone with his unique talent of his.

Instead, he had led another topic out of the letters something to calm her mind from the little accident.

"You're not ditching out plans are you by the way?" I had asked, and she furrows her eyebrows, and I pretend to be hurt, not that she can see my expression, but I had to try. Pretending to be hurt by the words, I gasp.

"You did forget, I'm sad Anaya Moore, I had thought we had something special," I faked hurt myself, and she was left dumbfound, well I hope she did.

"some-something special?" and I grin bingo.

"Yes... I thought we more than that Moore, that time we had was something special..." I huff in annoyance, and I smile as she furrows her eyebrows and I smile at her, she is so cute.

"You mean the part where you embarrass yourself and plead to join in lunch," she innocently asks and my smile from my face as I look at her, touche my friend.

She giggles at that as she relaxes more, thank go she did.

"Don't have comeback anymore?" She asked," to clarify you, we're acquaintance my friend, and I didn't think it was severe."

Now it's my turn to furrow my eyebrows at her, and she thinks I'm joking?

"You think I'm joking?" I asked, and her body went rigged, and she fumbled with her hands, and she started squirming uncomfortably.

"No... it's just – I –"

"It's okay, and you don't have to go, you know? If you rather just –"

"NO!" she shouted, and I looked at her wide eyes, and she closes her mouth as she was also surprised by her sudden outburst," what I mean is that, no I do want to go it's just –"

"No one had ever asked you?"

"No..."

"You don't like going?"

"No, I-"

"You think it's not worth it?"

"No... I"

"It's because –" she cut me off as she slams her hands in the table, and I look at her irritated, and I smile even more.

"I don't think you're serious enough to ask, you could be bluffing, and I would look like a fool who believes those words." She finished her words, and she started to turn red, cute.

"I'm sad to know you think I'm bluffing you know, I meant it when I said I want to take you out to have lunch, I mean isn't that what friends do?" I asked her, and she scoffs.

"You mean being friends with a blind person? I doubt that." She said, and I looked at her sadly, how long has it been since someone had asked her to go to lunch without minding her disabilities?

"Anaya Moore, I'm a man of my words, I just don't ask people like that if I don't mean it, what's wrong with asking someone out for lunch, asking a friend to go out for lunch?" I asked and sighed at her, and she needs someone to show her that her disabilities shouldn't be something to bother.

"So what you're saying is that you want me to join you for lunch?" she asked, and I smile, and nod.

It was a silence when I realise, oh.

"Oh yes, I mean yeah I would like too, do you have plans where we should go and when?" I asked, and she stops to think for a moment.

"How about going to a cafe, I heard people muttering about a new cafe that just opened up few blocks away from here?" she asked," well unless you want to go somewhere else then it's okay too."

"it's okay that sounds perfect, uhm how about Friday then, do you have class?"

"That's perfect, and no, I don't."
