Chapter 11 - Gossips

"I'm sorry I thought you were joking around," I said guilty, it was the first time someone actually asked me out like this and not because they wanted to joke around for my disability. So it was actually a first.

"No problem and please don't think if someone asked you out like this means they're trying to bully you or anything," He said, took it from my mouth.

But again my heart was not listening, and all it can hear was 'ask you out.'

"Asking me out?"

"Yeah, I mean, going out to grab something kind of friends, like what friends do?" He questions himself, and I laugh at him.

"I get you," we were walking back from the library he had asked if I wanted help getting to the next class and I had agreed, not because I wanted to. But because it seems like my two best friends haven't found each other and deliberately had abandon my ass back in the library.

Shouldn't blame them though.

"It's just you're kind of right, it's been a while since someone asked to grab lunch together, it's been like that since seventh grade when someone had asked me to go grab a bite somewhere, and I didn't know it was a prank and they decided not to show up." I laugh bitterly at what had happened that day.

My naive self thought that I might have friends finally and decided to agree that day to join them. Who would have thought I had waited for them after 3 hours, and my stupid self thought they had caught up in traffic.

So I had to wait by the sidewalk for an hour until dad picks me up. Told him I had a great time and lied that I thought we could be best friends.

He didn't know I had cried that night, alone in my room. Since that day I had agreed to myself that I shouldn't trust someone like that so quickly, I wouldn't know what I would do if I had cried again for the same reason.

Fooled me once shame on you, fooled me twice shame on me, that's what they had said.

"After that, I had sworn to myself I shouldn't trust anyone like that to quick." I shrug," It was better that way, so I do apologize if I look down on you like someone like that."

But he could only think that she must have gone through so much for her to believe that she couldn't be loved and appreciated like a human being. It was a society they all had to live by, It's not perfect, but you've got no choice.

So it became a mission for him to make her happy, the idea of making her realize her worth and a little study to conduct. Nothing that might hurt her, no he wouldn't be able to live with himself if he did.

He wanted to know what makes Anaya Moore happy?

"No... I should be the one sorry, I didn't realize you'll take it that way, I was just joking, sorry," he quietly said," I'm not good at joking, always too serious for that."

Anaya who had heard that smiles in her head, as she had forgotten what had just happened, she smiles regardless.

"It's alright nic, I hope your offering still stands?" I asked as I heard the chairs scrape because of the friction of the floorboard. It was caused by him, surprised to see her calling out a nickname for him, well he didn't know they were already by nicknames based. But calling out her name out as long as it is, is more fun, the little scrunch she likes to the giver, a habit he picked up from her as to show her distaste on calling her full name.

"Yes! Of course, it still stands, now who wouldn't want to grab that opportunity?" I heard him chuckle," It is a pleasure, Miss Moore, to bring you to have lunch, and I didn't know that we're already nickname base, that was quick."

I laugh and shake my head, I could imagine him doing so jazz hands to impress, but sadly I could only dream of being able to see him like that. But it was fun to imagine what situation I would be if it did happen, well it did happen, but it feels like it's not.

"Well you surprise me and impress me, I don't usually call someone by their nickname like that, you should be grateful I reconsider it for you," I teased, and he laughs.

"Well, I'm honoured Miss Anaya Moore to be bestowed by the name," He unconsciously bows down to her, not that she couldn't see, but she knew. It made her laugh alright.

"Why... what's so funny Anaya Moore?" He asked as I shrug teasingly slumping into the chairs.

"I don't know, it's just refreshing to be laughing like this, my whole existence is a bothersome and laughing is clearly out of the question so it's nice to laugh out like this and no one would judge," He frown at her statement, is that how she views herself as? Someone bothersome.

"Anaya when was the last time you're this free with someone?" He asked as I frown at him. That question, no one has ever asked me those question. Well, no one bothered to know, so I never bothered to think about it.

"I don't think I have the answer for that question," I said, and he sighs," You'll need to ask those question after I find the answered for it."

"Anaya I hope you know that you're free to be you with me, alright?" He said, and I smile. Thank you, those were the words I thought I'd never heard.

"Thanks, I'll remember them," I said.

"Alright do you need help going to the next class?" He asked, but I shook my head, it didn't take a genius to figure out that we were probably out of the library right now and people's whispers throughout the hall.

Isn't this an eventful day.
