Chapter 36 - Meddlesome Bestfriend

While the crew packed up a sensitive gear after the concert, Alexander and the others came out to sign autographs and take photos with the die-hard fans who had stuck around well after the two-hour concert ended that evening.

Unfortunately, Red didn't show up for the whole event even during the afternoon.

Weirdly enough, there was a tall guy with raven-hair and light grey eyes in an expensive suit and another guy who wore sunglasses (inside the dark theatre, mind you) as if he was a Hollywood Actor.

They looked out of place and too young to be a business CEO or an actor. Maybe they are art students playing dress-up. Art students are in a whole new level of eccentric. They do what they feel like doing.

Alexander smirked.

It reminded him of Red.

Anyway, these guys stuck out like a sore thumb from the number of adoring women in the group. The one who approached and was about to snap a photo with me was the raven-haired one, giving me a beaming smile.

"Ohmygod, I can't believe I get to meet you!" The raven-haired guy said and he placed his arm around my waist for the shot.

Alexander was taken aback because he wasn't used to dealing with male fans. He was so flustered because this was the first fanboy he had encountered in his groupie. His face was too close, invading his personal space.

Alexander was sure he wasn't homophobic but... it was just awkward for him.

Alexander wasn't the only one being showered with the male's attention. All six of them had their groupies, most of them were females. Only Jason and Blake usually had a few male fans on their groupies.

Blake had exchanged fist bumps with a muscled bloke who turned around to have him sign his back with a black marker.

Next to him, Marco had his hands on a brunette's waist who tucked a piece of paper into Marco's jeans pocket with a blatant invitation in her eyes and her assuredly collagen-enhanced lips.

The other guy who looked like a Hollywood actor just stood there waiting at the corner with his arms crossed, looking us over and checking us out, not blending with the girls' excited atmosphere but instead, he had a spaced-out look on his face.

"I know what you did last summer." The raven-haired guy with the light grey eyes beside Alexander whispered and his ears perked up at that.

"What do you mean?"

'Please.' Alexander prayed, hoping this guy was Red's acquaintance or whatever.

"I didn't murder anyone last summer."

"My best friend has told me all kinds of things about you."

"Oh."

"You looked so much better than the photos on her phone. It's a shame she didn't post it on social media." He said conspirationally. "I think she wanted to keep your memories all by herself."

Now, this is the news he had wanted to hear all day.

"Did she tell you that?" Alexander gave this guy a charming smile so that he could pry for more information.

"My best friend is a greedy, secretive bitch. If I were her, I'd to the same too." He shrugged as if it was no big deal for him sharing other people's secrets. "It took her almost two months to spill the beans between the two of you and what happened last summer. But I think she's regretting everything bad she has done to you."

Did he mean Cat? As in Cat with the red hair and sexy lips?

"Cat was smitten about you, you know? For the past six months, she was talking about you and your band members non-stop. Sometimes, she gets depressed for no reason at all." He continued. "Perhaps, she misses you. "

Alexander's heart beat fast, and then it slowed for a few seconds. It sounded like was talking about the same Cat he knew last summer.

So she was interested in him but still kept on denying it when Alexander confronted her? He tried so hard to hide his smirk from her friend but it insisted on revealing itself.

Alexander raised an eyebrow. "Really? I'm glad to hear that."

"Cat told me to pass this message." Red's friend leaned closer to his ear and whispered. "She wanted to apologize personally."

"Yeah?"

"She told me to tell you to meet her in the library." Red's friend said. "I think she will profess her undying love for you."

Undying love for him?

After six months of no contact with each other, she had resorted to a lovesick mess?

Because of Alexander?

He wanted to run around the place, laugh heartily, and shout for joy.

"Really?"

Even if he had a hard time believing that, Alexander wouldn't ignore the possibilities that it was true. But then again, beggars can't be choosy because how will he take his revenge if he didn't have the upper hand, at least?

Good.

The guy stared at him seriously, searching his face and frowning at his smug expression.

"Don't hurt her, mate. I may be gay and find you attractive," He stood up straighter which showed his broad shoulders, flexed his muscles a little, and showed them to Alexander, "-- but I can still punch your lights out."

With that, Red's friend walked away along with his companion after giving him those familiar death glares. Alexander just stood there, slack-jawed as he gazed at their retreating backs.

Hmm. Should Alexander bring Blake along to the library? He was the reason why they were here in this school anyway. He needed to talk to Cat about something that had been bothering him for weeks.

But the fact was, it was him (Alexander) Cat wanted badly to meet. Only him and not anyone else.

Alexander's eyes narrowed as he realized something. Di she just wanted to meet because she figured out that their band was famous and just fell in love with him right away? Was that what this confession in the library was all about?

Convenient.

Which was more fun? Should he bring Blake so that she will feel more awkward? Will she still confess her feelings to him if he would bring someone along?

Alexander hadn't forgotten the night she slapped him. The impact had remained ringing in his memories until now. It didn't hurt physically but his ego was in tatters and only revenge can heal it from humiliation.

There was only one way to find out.

It was hours later before the crew's work was finally done. Alexander had left the rest of the band a while ago. It would have looked suspicious if they can't see him when the crew members and the band got together for a drink afterward.

Gah. Alexander didn't care.

He should head to the library alone and see if Red would apologize. If not, then he will have his wicked way with her.
