Chapter 1 - The Field

Storm. It was around 8 p.m, mid October. I've always loved storms. I used to run through them when I was happy just last month. But now I was running from my reality. My reality of my mom dying just the month before and being torn away from all of my friends when I moved. Away from the house that stole the last bit of hope I had in me to pull through everything. I finally collapsed in a large field with tall grass. Crying. There was lightning close to me, I didn't care. I wasn't going back to that house right now.

"It's going to be okay, Lizzy. Don't be afraid." I could hear my mother say to me. Her voice ringing in my mind. Its Thursday, but I'm home schooled. I couldn't last a day in public school without breaking down. Especially not now. The thunder roared in the background. As I tried finding the strength to get up. The sky bright with lightning and the cold rain touching down on my skin, it was turning to hail as it rained harder. As everything faded into the background. I relaxed slightly and tried to stop crying.

I woke up I'm guessing around seven in the morning to the birds chirping and the wind blowing. I was still in the field. Drenched, I looked up at the sky. Just laying there. Something large started approaching me and I shot up and looked over. It was a horse, my favorite animal.

"Hey girl." I said petting her. She replied with a neigh.

"Where did you come from?" I asked looking around. She must be pretty far from where ever because there is nothing but tall grass for all I could see.

"Lizz! There you are. I was going out fishing just down the trail, wanna come?" My dad asked, pointing toward the trail to the water.

"Sure." I replied. I quickly threw my hair in a pony tail and rung out my shirt. I pet the horse one more time and started down the narrow trail.
