Chapter 6 - The Play of the Nameless Hero

"Woww, this is a very large city!" Derrick exclaimed. This was his first time seeing such a large city, even the cities he toured with his parents aren't even this grand.

"Same to me as well! I am thrilled we can stay in this big city!" Luna thought of the same thing.

"See that? Can you imagine how fun it is to be inside this big city?" Oriel smirked at the unmasked admiration of the kids.

The carriage stopped by the gates for the guards to inspect the traveler's carriages and collect entrance fees.

You can see a gigantic wall that rises to 30 feet or 9 meters tall. It is securely guarded by the local soldiers above the wall.

They monitor around Viridian City every day, not even rats and ants can sneak inside the city.

Oriel went down to pay for the entrance fees in silver coins. Before the guards follow their normal procedures, Oriel showed an insignia, letting him and his carriage pass.

He immediately went back in the carriage as it moved forward, passing from houses to houses.

The Virtualis Continent is immensely different from the modern world. They have unique histories and cultures, but oddly enough the names of buildings and establishments are very similar to the ones in modern earth.

The infrastructures and the ongoing culture of this continent somehow resemble the 18th Century Gregorian era. The only odd addition of the buildings here is the walls and many specialties that can only be found inside the Virtualis Continent.

The native language of humans is coincidentally the same as one of the most popular languages in the modern world. It is in English.

Oriel observed around until he felt a hint of magic in the air. He finally stopped what he was doing and smiled. He turned his heads to the kids and announced.

"It is almost time before we can finally see the spectacles inside this town. Watch closely, kids."

Almost at the same time, the trio heard applause near them. They looked over and found a theater stand with five performers on stage.

On the stage, the four bright 'silhouettes' encircled the injured 'dragon' with many heads. Both sides didn't attack rashly yet. The fight came to a brief face-off.

"Hydra, your time is nigh. Surrender now or prepare a gruesome fight!" One of the bright 'silhouettes' sounded out, asking the 'dragon' to surrender.

"I will surrender over my dead body!" All the dragon's head recklessly attacked the surroundings with magic. Risking to kill the four humans even if it means injuring themselves on the brink of death.

The audience looks anxious about the four humans. Dragons are naturally very strong from birth, but this dragon has many heads. Making them near impossible to beat it with numbers.

The four bright 'silhouettes' dodged some of their attacks, all of them being seriously injured, but one is still struggling to stand up with their feet...

All that was revealed in the eyes of Luna and Derrick is a human figure trying to pick up his daggers and stand up out of sheer will.

The dragon was also struggling to keep their feet. She is trying to flap their wings to flee but failed; they are too weak to even stand up, much less fly with their injured body.

Having failed of doing anything, they sighed and looked over to the human who was weakly, but surely approaching him. "Why don't you go lie there and rest like those other humans?" They scoffed at the human.

The human who was quietly approaching the dragon wasn't able to respond to the dragon's provocation, but he still stood and went over to the dragon and persevered.

There was silence in the scene. The audience is all staring at the play. The dragon and the human are also silent throughout the play, just letting the human approach him until the distance shortened into a meter.

Both of them recovered some of their strength, they recovered a reserve of their power but they are all immensely exhausted to even do anything.

The dragon can only attack once. It was the same for the human as well. Both of them stared until the dragon broke the ice.

"I am impressed by your perseverance human. I want to know your name before being slain by my claws."

"My name does not matter." The human suddenly moved in swift speed as he attacked the limbs of the dragon.

The dragon already expected this, however, she moved all of her heads to protect her limbs, only to realize that the human's attack was a feint.

The human figure suddenly jumped up to meet the dragon's heads. He attacked them and blinded all of their eyes in just a second.

"What matters is that..."

The human used magic to hover down instantly to incapacitate the necks of the dragon. He was immensely successful until he is down to the last one.

"Humans are victorious once more."

The dragon struggled until the end, but they still couldn't defeat the human, much less stop him. He can only let the human kill them.

This is the Legend of the Nameless Hero. This legend has been popular for centuries and even adapted as a play. There are also many variations of this legend, and this play is one of them.

After this scene the theater received a standing ovation, every single audience sounded claps around the theater stand.

Luna and Derrick also followed the crowd and clapped as fast as they can. It thrilled them to see the theater as they exclaimed in delight. "The play is so cool!"

On the other hand, Oriel was not reacting even once. He didn't continue to watch the play as he stayed at his seat and minded his own business.

After a while, Derrick felt something was off as he looked over to Oriel. He did not see him clapping to the theater and immediately asked.

"Uncle Oriel, why did you not clap after the play? Do you not like the play?" Derrick asked his uncle, Luna looked over to him as well.

"I don't even like it one bit, the plot is very unrealistic and too much cliché going on here!" Oriel showed his obvious dislike for the play. He looks like a very demanding critic that can't be satisfied even with masterpieces, criticizing the most minor details of the plot.

Derrick and Luna were both speechless at his remarks. Both of them have the same thoughts in their heads. They hoped the author can satisfy these kinds of readers.
