Before they knew it, it was already late noon. The sky's already orange, and the sun was setting.
Oriel was getting stressed guiding the kids into learning their weapons.
Derrick was... manageable. He is using the sword to begin with. Oriel only needs to correct his stances for his first day. Before anything else, Derrick needs to learn the basics.
Luna is having trouble with how to use the bow. As a kid who likes to play and cook, she only knows how to use knives, but not bows.
She just wanted to try the bow on a whim. She made Oriel's head hurt terribly.
Fortunately, she was improving rapidly on her bow after her father showed her how it's done. She was trying her best to alter her bow stances.
Derrick didn't care how the stance was done. What he likes was slashing, thrusting, hacking, and cutting the dummy with his sword.
Thus kids like Luna, who were much more mindful and clear-headed, can learn anything easier than kids who were very much impulsive, seeking fun more than anything.
Oriel stressed that they should be mindful of how their weapons are used, especially Luna's arrows. While their weapons were mostly made out of wood, the arrow's tip is all rusty steel. If it hits someone's body, it would surely become a serious injury.
He knew the kids would accidentally injure themselves by carelessness, thus Oriel was on guard all the time.
Alas, the kids would always injure themselves in tricky situations even Oriel cannot expect.
The worst one was that time Derrick thrusts his wooden sword to the dummy's chest really hard, but the sword bounced and hit his own stomach instead.
Oriel, who was still teaching Luna, got caught off guard and didn't save Derrick's stomach in time.
He had to ease Derrick's stomach pain for dozens of minutes. He strictly scolded Derrick and told him to never do that again.
There were times the kids got into an accident, but Oriel reacted swiftly
If you wanted the author to give the statistics on how often the two kids get injured by accident, here it is:
Derrick: 19
Luna: 2
In conclusion, never ever let your kids hold real sharp objects, including the knife, especially without adult supervision.
Before they knew it, it was already late noon. The sky's already orange, and the sun was setting.
When he saw that it's getting dark. Oriel and the kids finally called it a day.
Oriel sighed in relief after their training. Everything was a mess, especially Derrick.
Derrick, who was holding his stomach, struggled to move his legs to walk.
Trying to recall the incident and the pain he felt earlier, Derrick shivered immensely. Derrick finally learned his lesson. He will never move the sword carelessly again, or else he would regret it several times over.
Luna was terribly exhausted. She was actually having fun pulling the bows as she shot dummies and targets. She neglected to work on her dagger though, causing her to be saddened.
"Sit on the benches and rest. I'm going to come back soon to get you." Oriel walked over to the backdoor as he spoke.
Hearing no response, Oriel looked at the kids lying on the bench, sleeping. He shook his head and sighed, knocking on the door as he went in.
He viewed the katana briefly before casting his gaze away. He went to the other room and saw the owner attending to a customer. Oriel looked at the weapons in the store as he waited.
Five minutes later, the last customer has been served. The burly owner saw off the last customer then walked to where Oriel is.
"I'm sorry for letting you wait for so long, do you need anything?" He followed the attention of Oriel and found out he is staring at some light weapons.
The light weapons on those stands were sets of swords, spears, shields, maces, long swords, and sabers.
"I would like to rent this place for 25 days for the kids to train. I want to buy 10 sets of light weapons as well." Oriel turned to look at the owner. "Do you have spare armors?"
The burly owner became confused about his weird request. 'Is he trying to arm a group of soldiers?'
He recovered his thoughts and replied. "I can help you transact with the weapons but sadly we don't have any armors for sale, Sir."
"That's a shame." Oriel thought for a moment and shook his head. "Just store what I bought, I'm going to retrieve them soon."
The owner didn't ask any questions and nodded. "Okay, I'm going to store them for you."
He went back to the counter and got a quill pen and paper. He wrote Oriel's long purchase. After that, he looked at Oriel and asked.
"Is there anything else, Sir?"
Oriel thought for a moment and said. "I'm buying the katana too, here are 10 gold coins for my purchase. Keep the change."
He took out ten gold coins from his pocket and lightly placed it over the counter.
The burly owner looks calm on the outside, but Oriel's generosity shocked him. This day may only be the luckiest day of his life.
What Oriel gave was worth more than its original price. An average sword that he sells only costs 3 silver coins, and one set of light weapons only cost 15 silver coins.
The total coins Oriel should have paid is 150 silver coins. Then adding to the katana, which doesn't have any monetary value, what Oriel paid is tens of times more than what it should be.
The burly man trembled in joy and excitement. He faintly mumbled.
"Thank you... Really." He only said three words but with deep emotions.
Oriel didn't mind his generosity and was going to leave to take the kids home. "I'm going to come back. See you soon."
The owner watched Oriel slowly leaving and smiled in happiness.
...
In the evening.
In the Headmaster's room of the Ashburn Academy of Magic.
An adolescent man was sitting on his chair looking at the documents. He heard a knock on the door and but he didn't bother to look.
"Come in."
The doors outside the Headmaster's room is opened, and the figure of a petite lady is seen. It was Angelica Cynthia.
"What is your report?" The adolescent man stopped what he was doing and made eye contact with Angelica.
Angelica didn't flinch or make a reaction to the sudden seriousness of the Headmaster. She started her report as she was asked to.
"I have interviewed them and asked them questions. Only the daughter of Meyer Family passed the evaluation with a high score."
"The results of the youngest son of Vogel Family are troubling and nurturing him would only be detrimental to our resources."
"We can't afford to risk adding him to our academy if his Physical Potential is less than 'A'."
After that, there was still silence. Angelica was sweating from patiently waiting for the headmaster's response. She was anxious that something in her report was lacking.
The headmaster stayed still as he contemplated. "On the second thought, I will personally interview the youngest son of the Vogel Family at the right time."
Hearing that there was nothing wrong with her report, she sighed in relief, and politely responded. "Thank you, headmaster Ozpin."
She left the room and closed the doors. The headmaster is the only one inside the room.
Ozpin looked at the pendulum clock with a familiar design beside the door and stared at it for a while.
