Chapter 14 - Shameless Uncle

"Round 2 Start!"

Derrick did the same thing once again. He lunged directly at Oriel.

Oriel sidestepped and got forced to move into the corner by Derrick.

Luna shot her arrow to where Oriel was. The latter dodged, but he was now touching the walls.

The area was narrow, to begin with; it didn't take too long for Oriel to get cornered from the attacks of the kids.

"Hehe." Derrick finally gave a victory screech to Oriel, feeling good that he finally beat his uncle after this strike.

This time, he didn't use any sword techniques. He swung his sword sideways, back and forth; his action was wide enough to cover Oriel's escape routes.

He thought Oriel made this game easier for them.

But he was wrong, Oriel suddenly jumped from his position and pushed his legs to the wall, making his body fly away from it. He dodged Derrick's attacks perfectly and landed in the middle.

Luna and Derrick were dumbstruck immediately from Oriel's shameless move.

"Papa, isn't this cheating?" Luna sounded out. She felt her father is being unfair to them.

"What cheating? I didn't use magic, I only exploited the environment to the max."

The kids were speechless from his remark. They finally found Oriel to be very shameless.

He, as an adult, didn't want to lose a game for kids like them.

Derrick didn't give up as he yelled. "Let's go again, Luna!"

Luna nodded and readied her bow. Derrick strode forward to Oriel as he slashed his sword upwards.

Oriel knew what they were up to now and evaded on the left. At the same time, Luna shot the arrow and hit the right side.

He smiled when he found out Luna was hitting to which side he usually dodges on.

'Luna is using now her brains to attack, compared to Derrick. As expected of my cute and smart daughter.'

Derrick kept following Oriel's footwork, slashing everywhere near him. He also copied his uncle's footwork and sidestepped every time Oriel tries to escape at either side.

He didn't allow Oriel to run any longer.

It didn't take too long for Oriel to get forced to the corner, much faster than the last time.

It was the same situation but in different circumstances. Luna readied her bow above Oriel and Derrick was alert to where Oriel will jump towards.

Oriel grinned after seeing their new tactic. He jumped to the wall and heard the sound of piercing air. He jumped twice to the corners, barely dodging the upcoming arrow.

Then he saw Derrick lifting his sword high to intercept his foot, he jumped to the other corner again. After dodging the attacks of the two did he jump towards the center, yet again.

"Ahh!" He heard the screams of unrestrained frustration coming from Derrick. "My sword almost touched uncle's foot!"

"I almost caught my father with my arrow as well!" Luna argued.

"Well, I am the one who forced my uncle to the corner!" Derrick turned around and contended with Luna.

The two kids bickered during the fight. Looking at the sight of them arguing, Oriel became speechless as he tried to bring them back to the game. "We are still playing the game!"

The two kids ignored him. They looked like they were bickering, but they had smiles on their faces.

"If only you shot your arrows a little faster, we could have won that part!" Oriel pointed his sword over to Oriel. His eyes are glinting with a strange light.

"If you weren't dumb enough to fall from my papa's trap every time, we would have won!" Luna's eyes were also glinting a strange light.

It looks like they were sneaking a look at Oriel at the corner of their eyes.

Oriel pretended not to see that and went to the flow. "Guys, guys. We still have to continue, or else!"

"If it wasn't for you--" Derrick's tone suddenly got excited. He withdrew his hand and threw his sword to Oriel without warning.

Luna and Derrick were excited to find out the result. Will he fall for our trap?

Oriel, who acted like he didn't know, suddenly tilted his body and let the sword pass through. He perfectly dodged the surprise attack.

Luna and Derrick were dumbstruck and didn't believe their plan would fail.

Oriel laughed at them. "I would certainly believe your act if you guys didn't intentionally try to peek a glance on me."

The kids were crestfallen. Everything doesn't work against Oriel. How can they win?

"Now let's continue."

Both of the kids sighed and surrendered.

"We don't wanna play anymore uncle. You are too strong."

"Are you going to give up the battle and go home now?" Oriel feigned angriness as he spoke. Inwardly he was thinking if he should go easy on them now...

"No, we don't like that!"

"Please papa, let us stay here for a month. You promised us." Luna's cute face made a pleading frown. Normally, Oriel's heart would melt at the sight of Luna's begging, but today was training.

No more compassion for the weak.

"No more negotiations, it's either to surrender or win!" Oriel ruthlessly cut their act. "2 more minutes!"

"We need to win!" Derrick desperately charged at Oriel. The latter evaded while Derrick picked up his sword.

Luna felt her quiver and found out she only has 2 arrows left. She thought in contemplation before retrieving one arrow and pulled the bow. She was patiently waiting for opportunities.

Derrick looked at Luna and found out her plight. He suggested. "Luna, why don't you try using the dagger?"

"I don't know how to use the dagger." Luna shook her head. She pointed the bow to where Oriel was.

Oriel stayed in place as he watched Derrick charged over him. He looked at Luna and found out she still wasn't withdrawing her bow. He focused his attention on Derrick.

Derrick made a lunge, Oriel dodged it sidewards, he made a slash, Oriel jumped backward. Derrick threw his sword, he just sidestepped.

Derrick tried to kite Oriel once more to the corner. He wanted to make an opportunity for Luna to attack.

They thought of their plan one step ahead than Oriel.

Oriel jumped from his position and in that instant, he saw Oriel jumping and throwing the sword to where he would jump towards, and Luna was blocking his other escape route.

The two attacks only hit the wall, not Oriel. When he saw no one actually intercepting him, he didn't know whether to laugh or cry.

In the end, what Oriel only did was jumping in place, then running at the opposite wall. Very simple.

Luna and Derrick thought that this was their unlucky day. The two of them were in bitter tears. They went too far ahead that they forgot to attack Oriel.

Luna only had a single arrow on her quiver, and Derrick was already tired, to begin with. He rested on the ground once again.

"Derrick I'm going to use the dagger! I barely have any arrows anymore." She knew using the arrow again would only result in Oriel running away.

She tried to use another approach. Hopefully, she can surprise her papa this way.

"30 seconds left!" Oriel shouted to them. He was giving them immense pressure.

This time, it was now or never.
