Derrick struggled to catch a single butterfly under thirty seconds. He still randomly threw his insect net around.
These set of actions may make some kids exhausted, but not him. His thrill of catching a butterfly dominates his state of mind right now.
He doesn't have any time to think about being tired.
"Derrick, there's a butterfly from your left!" Luna pointed her finger to the blue butterfly near him.
The lone butterfly was happily pollinating on a flower, the boy turned around and saw it as an opportunity and made a call.
"I'm gonna catch it." The boy enthusiastically replied.
Derrick turned his body in front of the butterfly and suddenly made a forward charge, gripping the insect net. He is seeking to catch the unguarded butterfly.
The butterfly, however, sensed the incoming danger as it hurriedly flapped away its wings to flee.
But Derrick was one step ahead as he already expected the butterfly to run away.
Without thinking about anything else, he concentrated his accuracy on his hands as he pulled the insect net downward with great precision.
He smiled thinking, 'this is it!' The butterfly will be caught based on his prediction.
Alas, something inconceivable happened right in front of his eyes. The butterfly suddenly dropped downward, then skillfully flapped its wings away from the direction of the net, barely dodging the insect net.
Butterflies may look fragile, and easily capturable as they travel lazily from flower to flower, but never underestimate them.
Behind their lazy persona, they are highly skilled pilots, able to weave and dodge their way out of the path of a net without flinching even once. The sky and the wind are their domain.
Now that the butterfly escaped from Derrick, it flew away in the sky slowly.
Because of Derrick focusing his attention to the butterfly and his net, he clumsily tripped over and lost his balance. His knees met the rough surface of the rock and got injured.
"Derrick!" Luna was watching everything from start to finish. After she saw Derrick being injured, she shouted in worry as she immediately ran over to Derrick to help him.
The wound on Derrick's leg was covered with dirt, but when you look closely, the blood is slowly becoming visible on his wound. His injury is not that deadly, but very painful to bear.
"Oww, it hurts." Derrick was hugging his knees as he sobbed lightly from the pain. He vented out his pain by screaming lightly.
Looking at Derrick's struggles, Luna panicked. Her arms were shaking all over the place as she worriedly rambled.
"What should I do..." She repeated it twice, she scratched her hair wildly as if trying to operate her brain more nimbly.
Derrick had nothing to say but softly reminded her. "You can just use your scarf."
She even forgot the basics... Luna immediately approved Derrick's suggestion as she shook her head. "Let me treat your wound."
The girl took off her scarf from her neck and clumsily bandaged Derrick's knees. The process of bandaging looks sacrilegious in the eyes of professional medics.
Fortunately, Luna is still learning. She is much more knowledgeable compared to kids of her age.
Although the scarf was folded messily, it worked out fine.
The scarf that was folded on his injury was slowly turning into red, the blood is starting to color the scarf. It would take over 30 minutes for the blood to overflow if his injuries were more serious.
It was fortunate that his injuries were light and will be treated in less than a day if handled appropriately.
"Thank you, Luna." Derrick was smiling even though his face was covered with sweat and huffed rapidly. It didn't take too long for his pale face to go back to normal, but he was exhausted.
While wiping her sweat off, she accidentally looked at Derrick and was taken aback from his silly smile.
Thinking about something, her face slowly turns red, and she panicked.
"I'm going to go call your mom here, she's the best nurse in the village right? She can treat your wound in no time." Luna hurriedly came up with a solution, then she ran back to the village.
"Wait— you can just take me back home." Derrick was stupefied from the sudden reaction of Luna.
"No, just lie there and wait!"
The girl exclaimed as she ran to the path back home.
It didn't take too long until she shouted to him from afar, "Make sure to press your wound before we would come to you!"
Derrick had no other choice but to lie down on the grass fields. He looked at the white clouds and the blazing sun, then to the forest full of white, papery-plate trees and a blue, clear pond nearby him. There he saw frogs croaking and water lilies dancing on the water.
He started reflecting on what happened today. Not understanding how the butterfly escaped from his grasp, he shook his head and closed his eyes to rest.
Derrick Vogel is a talented youth who likes to read books and also trains in swordsmanship. Although he looks frail, he packs a punch. He is balanced in both his physical and mental state.
Eleanor Vogel, his mother, is the Chief Healer of the Birch village. She is widely acknowledged by everyone for her healing skills since her youth. She is an absolute genius regarding nature magic, her studies stopped when she met Derrick's father. She is 26 years old, but she looks younger than her peers.
Leo Vogel, his father, is the head of one of the top mercenary groups. He is renowned for being a master of the sword and feared for his unpredictable moves. He is acknowledged to be peerless with his swordsmanship. He is a year older than Eleanor.
He also has an older sibling, Oliver Vogel. He is a monster among his peers and even undefeatable to teens 6 years older than him. He is currently studying at Terran University and is among the best in his class.
Compared to his monstrous parents and his brother, Derrick is a bit unremarkable compared to them, but Derrick had no displeasures about his plight because he is the most optimistic of them all.
After recollecting his background, Derrick opened his eyes and suddenly shifted his gaze to a certain illusionary button on the bottom-left side of his view. The button looks transparent black, with a big word saying "Menu."
He stared at the "Menu" button for a second. Instantly, something in his mind clicked, and the "Menu" button suddenly expanded, revealing two other buttons of the same color.
One button revealed, "Stats." Then the other button was named rather foreign, not knowing the exact function compared to his understanding of stats.
It was...
...
"Admin Commands."
