Chapter 8 - Passing the day.

He looked at me, his expressions were worried according to what I sensed. And he quickly turned his vision and headed towards classroom. What's wrong with everything today? Shane has been nice to me yesterday evening, I don't know why but he was talking as a friend and today we are back to being strangers. I don't really understand him and I today, I can't understand Ellis either. Did they both fight each other over something? I really needed to know the answers to my questions or else I will really go mad.

"What are you thinking? Let's go, our first class is together, today."

She said checking the schedule and then beamed at me.

"Where is Ellis?"

I asked.

"He left for his basketball practice. Our school basketball team is determined to win the tournament this year."

She answered while walking towards the class. We entered the classroom filled with students and the teacher was already there. There were only three vacant seats at last, adjoining each other. I and I sat in the middle and Jess took a seat near widow on our right.

Shane entered the classroom when teacher was just about to start with her lessons. The professor gave him look and said to the whole class in general,

"I hate when someone is late in my class. You all shout be on time from tomorrow."

She gestured Shane to take a seat. She surely is strict. Shane took a seat on my left and he wasn't happy about it, I can tell seeing his expressions. What's wrong with him? Sometimes he wants be my friend and then he can't even tolerate my sight the other second. Teacher finally began with her lecture, o tried to focus on it. But my mind only wanted answers for all these weird happenings. I could not stop myself from asking Shane,

"What happened to your forearm?"

He didn't respond for a moment and then said,

"I tripped and fell from the bicycle."

He did not looked at me while answering.

"And you only injured your forearm. No other injury?"

I asked and tried to observe if he was lying.

"No, I am fine. You don't have to bother about it."

He said and I can't tell if he was being kind or rude.

"Then why were you hiding the band aid when your friends approached you?"

I questioned. I couldn't stop.

"It is really none of your concern. When I am trying to be pleasant with you, then don't make me go ride on you again."

He said in a little raised voice that could be heard by the adjacent sitting students and Jess was one of them.

"What happened? Did that assailed shouted at you?"

She asked concerned about me.

"No. It's alright. He didn't mean that."

I whispered with a smile and she seemed confused. Obviously, she'll be confused when I am supporting Shane. But somewhere I knew, he wasn't that bad how much he pretends to be. It was just my instinct saying to me consciously, when I was tossing and turning on bed all night. I am a great over thinker.

"Okay if you say... "

She said. And continued with her work. I too listened to teacher attentively but I was so disturbed that I can't focus for five minutes straight and my mind went to thoughts of Ellis and Shane being weird. The class ended soon as the topic was cleared and we were allowed to leave early.

It was our art class now so we decided to start with our idea for fundraisers and started with making some handy stuffs as souvenirs for the event. We can't start with remaking furnitures in school itself.

We went to the art lab and started collecting the items like paints, brushes etc from there while waiting for rest of the members to come.

"Hey! Jess. Hello, Iya."

Emma joined us followed by Mason and Austin. They beamed at us and Mason said,

"How's it going, miss new girl?"

"All good. When you all are here to help."

I beamed. And they chuckled. Austin seems to be a shy guy he doesn't talks much.

"Let's start with our work now."

Jess said and Mason interrupted,

"Shouldn't we wait for Ellis?"

"He doesn't seem like he would be happy to join us. Don't know what's wrong with him today."

Jess sighed and I totally agree with her. Ellis hasn't showed up since the first period and his temper wasn't good when we met.

"Why what's wrong?"

Asked Austin and Emma nodded as it was the question she was going to ask.

"We haven't figured that out yet. But he was not in a good mood when we met."

Jess said and added,

"Let's go we are getting late."

We followed her to the auditorium hall where we could all work together with ample space for us to work.

"What should we make for the event souvenir?"

Emma asked and I thought definitely not some cliche item like a pen stand or something.

"We can try sun catchers and dream catchers for the purpose.. "

I suggested.

"Yeah good thought but we will add our touch to it let's make it in the shape of our arts club's logo."

Emma added.

"I am impressed by both of you girls."

Jess stated and we all began with our works. Mason and Austin went to get threads and beads while we went to garden to collect some sticks for the purpose.
